The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (Wolfstar)
//cussing! Because honestly, I picture Sirius Black as the type to cuss a lot...//
"Honestly Sirius. Why are you so gloomy?" James asked, glancing worriedly at one of his best friends.
Sirius sighed and flopped down on the lush grass next to James, deliberately staring into the sky and avoiding the question. "What do you mean? Gloomy? Me? Never!" He let out a huff as he stared at the clouds swirling shapes. Hey, that one looks like a wolf...
James scoffed and shook Sirius by the shoulders. "You know what I mean! You're moping around like a girl on their period! Oh, wait- are you secretly a girl?!" James looked at Sirius, horrified at the prospect of an extra moody Sirius.
"Uhh...excuse me?" A sharp voice came from behind Sirius, and James went as pale as a sheet. Lily was standing right behind him, with her arms folded and glaring at him, making it clear that she heard every word that James has said.
"Lily!" Sirius heard James exclaim. "Uhh...I forgot! I have to go...do something important! As much as I'll love to have this chat, I got to go! Byeeee!"
"JAMES! GET BACK HERE!" Sirius chuckled at this little exchange, however, he stiffened quickly when someone sat down next to him.
"Hey Sirius, is this spot empty?" Remus Lupin asked from the ground next to him.
"Y-yes...not that that stopped you!" Sirius chuckled nervously, unsure why he was so sweaty. It's just Remus, idiot! Stop being so nervous around him!
Yet he couldn't help it. His stomach would flutter with butterflies every time Remus was around, he'd find excuses to subtly touch Remus, and he'd get jealous whenever Remus talked to a girl. There was no denying it now, he was hopelessly in love with his hot, funny, smart, and straight best friend.
And there was no escape from the hellhole he crawled himself deep into.
"Sirius? You okay?" Moony's awkward voice was laced with gentle concern, and Sirius felt himself internally groaning at how hot Remus looked in the sun.
And at that moment, Sirius Black made the most important revelation of his life. He, Sirius Black, was not straight. And he, Sirius Black, was in love with his best friend, Remus Lupin. As he came to this stunning conclusion, Remus just kept talking about random things.
"What do you think?" Remus turned to his spaced-out best friend, looking worried.
What I think, thought Sirius, is that I'm fucking in love with you. "Huh?" He chooses to say instead. "Think about what?"
Remus scoffed. "Were you even listening to me?" He looked angry, yet his tone remained playful.
No. "Yes, of course I was! Moony, who do you take me for?" Sirius gasped, and placed a hand over his heart in mock defense. "Why, do you just assume I won't listen? Oh, the horror! The pain! The agony!" He collapsed to the ground and heaved dry, and fake, sobs. "My own friend! My own friend doesn't trust me!"
"I hate to say this old friend, but you are very dramatic!" Moony laughed as Sirius schooled his expression into one of mock horror.
"Me?! Dramatic?! And old?! Never!" Inside, he felt a sharp sting at the words "friend", as he realized that's all he'd ever be to Moony. However, he just shrugged it off, realizing that even though Remus would never like him back, he was okay with it.
I'm in love with my best friend. And you know what? I'm fucking okay with that.
Remus POV:
Remus watched Sirius hesitatingly from his spot above the hill. He wavered, torn on coming down, or watching him relax. He looked at ease in the sunlight, his troubled expression morphing into one of peacefulness. Remus hesitated, then headed down.
"Hey Sirius, is this spot empty?" Without waiting for an answer he sat down.
"Y-yes, not that that's stopped you!" Sirius responded with a nervous chuckle. Remus grinned at him, and sat down nervously. He felt sweaty, being this near to Sirius. Sirius is your best friend! You shouldn't feel this nervous! He internally chastised. But deep inside, he knew why he felt so nervous. Remus knew that he felt a feeling that ran much deeper than friendship.
Remus turned and noticed that Sirius hadn't spoken the entire time. "Sirius? You okay?" Sirius looked up quickly and seemed to force a smile
Sirius suddenly looked as if he'd realized something very important in that split second, and Remus felt uncomfortable.
He recognized when Sirius wanted him to talk, and he had a feeling that this was the moment. So Remus spoke quickly, on one of their favorite topics: quidditch. As he was getting into the moment, he looked to Sirius for support but found him staring off into space.
"What do you think?" Remus looked at his best friend worriedly. It was unlike Sirius to stay this quiet. Sirius looked startled, which worried Remus.
What on earth could he be thinking about? He wondered. Probably about some girl... his brain thought bitterly. What? Why am I so bitter about that? He wondered. If it's a girl, I should be happy! Yet try as he may, all he could muster was a sour feeling and hatred to the supposed "girl" Sirius probably liked. What the hell? Where are these feelings coming from? Is he even thinking of a girl? Get a hold-
"Huh? Think about what?" Sirius said, unknowingly interrupting Remus's internal debate.
Remus scoffed playfully. "Were you even listening to me?"
"Yes of course I was!" Sirius exclaimed, placing a hand over his heart. "Moony, who do you take me for? Why, do you just assume I won't listen? Oh, the horror! The pain! The agony!" Sirius collapsed to the ground and heaved dry, and obviously fake, sobs. "My own friend! My own friend doesn't trust me!" Sirius wailed, falling back dramatically.
Remus felt a sting at the word friend for some odd reason, but he shrugged it off, and retorted back. "I hate to say this old friend, but you are very dramatic!" Remus teased, laughing at Sirius's expression of false horror.
At that very moment, Remus realized something. Maybe it was the way Sirius looked when he laughed, as if someone had offered him the sun and moon. Maarten it was the way he smiled at Remus, as if both of them had a secret that only they knew.
Whatever the case, this realization hit him, and it hit him hard.
I'm in love with my best friend. And you know what? I think I'm okay with that.
//Sadly, they both were TOO OBLIVIOUS TO SEE IT UGHHHHHH //
