The first day I met her was the day I had started to have heart problems.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

"No, it actually wasn't yesterday. It was a decade ago. Just to be clear to you brats."

I was visiting the Trainee Corps with Erwin in front of me. He was searching for (Full name). The soon to be new member of the Scouting Legion.

I was aimlessly following Erwin while observing my surroundings.

"Tch. These recruits aren't going to survive with skills like that. " I scowled lowly, but loud enough for Erwin to hear.

"Because it's only been 6 months of training, Levi. " Erwin said without stopping his search.

"Then what's so special about (Full name)? " I scoffed audibly now.

"She is going to be the Scouting Legion's own titan slaying machine when I succeed in persuading her to join us. Somewhat like you. " he said with a creepy ass smile plastered onto his face.

"Your smile is creeping the shit out of me, Erwin. " then I gave him the 'stay the fuck away from me' look, which he didn't really care for.

"Right, I apologize. " As soon as he said that, the smile got even bigger.

Something is wrong with him, and I'm not even talking about his eyebrows.

"Cadet (Full name). That is you, right?" I heard Erwin say.

"Yes, sir. " She saluted with no emotion hinted. Her face was a blank canvas, all colors representing emotion, washed away.

Somewhat like me, except for the eyebrows. Her's aren't furrowed. What a pity though, she is a beauty.

"At ease. We would you like to join the Scouting Legion, as of now. If you'd like. " Erwin asked but it sounded like an order to me.

"May I know why, sir?" She stared deadpan into Erwin while I stare at her.

"You posses amazing skills that would help humanity greatly. The possibility of lessening the human death rate is very high and increasing the titan death rate it quite visible. "

"Thank you for the kind compliment, but I was already planning to join your legion. " She still has no emotion whatsoever.

"That is great! Thank you for your help, if you would please pack up your things now, we would like to adjourn to our HQ and start on your personalized training. " Erwin commanded.

She saluted and went off. I stared at her retreating figure longer than I would've liked to. But I was just curious.

What made her like me?

Erwin, as if reading my thoughts, said, "According to Keith, she has been like that ever since she entered. She follows orders and executes them perfectly. She even trains when she has the day off. Alas, her past is unknown because she doesn't want to talk about it. "

I hummed in response.

The carriage ride was odd for me.

She had sat next to me, not Erwin. Of course, with space in between.

But that's not the odd part. The odd part started after nearly 5 minutes into the ride when she fell asleep, on me.

Somehow, she felt no urge to warn or even ask me to lend her my shoulder. It's not that I didn't enjoy the human warmth, it's just that she's a fucking stranger who's possibly carrying filth.

Filth...

I snook a glance at her and saw that she was quite clean and pristine in fact. I sighed out of relief and relaxed my muscles.

"I will punch you in the face if you don't wipe off that idiotic expression you're making. " I glared at Erwin.

"Sorry. It's just...a female is sleeping on your shoulder. " I guess he couldn't hold it anymore because the next thing I heard was Erwin chuckling.

"Mm..." she mumbled into my shoulder and stirred a bit.

"Tch. Shut up, Erwin. " I sneered at him, afraid of waking her.

"Oh, aren't you caring~" He smirks while wriggling his 'eyebrows' at me.

"She is going to be put under my watch, so yes, you mofo. "

(Fun fact : If you read the manga, you'll see that Levi really did call Erwin and his accompanies, 'mofo'. It was when he was waiting in a room with Eren for Erwin and other people to talk about some shit. It's where Eren voiced out that Levi was a talkative person. )

"Sure. " He smiles and looks out the window like the dramatic person he was.

It's not anything special...she just reminds me of myself...that's all there is.

"I apologize for sleeping on you, Corporal. Punish me as you see fit. " She said monotonously as we stepped off the carriage. Erwin had left moments ago to do some 'paperwork'.

Do paperwork. Tch, more like shitty glasses. Gross.

"Tch. It's fine. For now, we will grab lunch and train after. "

"Yes, sir. "

She then trailed behind me like how I do to Erwin.

In the mess hall, she didn't talk much other than introductions, she seemed to be the quiet type. Seeing how she just listened to Hanji and everyone in my squad talk to her, while she just gives short replies.

Training her came easier than cleaning. She never complained. She never refused me. She never shot me any dirty looks.

She just complied with me like how she has been for the past year.

"Your hand to hand is improving very well. "

"Thank you, sir. " She saluted me.

"Sir?" She asks timidly. Probably the only emotion other than fear and disgust I've come across so far.

Amusing fact actually, she's disgusted and afraid of spiders but not of me or the titans.

"What is it?"

"What do I do now?" Slight confusion written all over her face.

So she does have emotions. Wait, why is she showing them to me?

"Unless you want to help me with my paperwork, I suggest you go do whatever is it you usually do. " I said as I started to walked to my office, while she was still trailing behind.

"I'll help you then. Is that fine, sir?"

"Do whatever you like. " I said with no particular emotion but somehow I felt...joy?

She does paperwork fast. Faster than me, which is quite odd because I've been doing this shit for a long time now. All the paperwork was done in no time! It was barely evening and I had zero work left. Which was a very good thing for me.

"I appreciate your help, (Name). " I said as I looked at her.

We were on first name basis when we were alone seeing how she isn't as annoying as the other cadets.

Also because she doesn't defy me in any way.

She seems to be hesitating on what to do next. I would understand, seeing how I was her superior, but what she did next was utterly shocking to me.

"No problem, Levi. " She said.

Smiling.

"..."

"I'll go hand these to Commander Erwin and go get you your dinner. " she said, still smiling.

But as soon as she turns around to close to the door on the other side, she was back to being blank.

She smiled. At me. Why me? It was beautiful though...but again, why me?!

The minute she walked out, I sped walked to the infirmary. My chest felt tight, my heart was pounding and I was slightly perspiring.

I thought I was having a heart attack!

I went to the nurse and I had told her of my symptoms. She simply chuckled and said that I was over reacting.

The fuck? What kind of nurse tells you that?!

But I didn't give it anymore thought because I was back to normal in no time.

When I was heading back to the office, I saw her again. She was standing outside the door with a tray of food.

"What are you doing?" I asked her while I motioned her to come into my office.

"Bringing you your dinner...?" She cocks her head to the side slightly.

That was kinda cute...what-

"Oh...right. " I said while looking at her.

I wonder if she's going to smile at me again...

She did.

All those problems came back again.

I was slightly panicking, not knowing why this was happening again.

"Levi...are you okay?" She asked with concern noticeably present.

"Yes...have you eaten yet?" I asked.

Maybe changing the topic will help.

"No, I'm going to now. "

"...Eat with me. "

"Okay. " She smiles again. This time, my heart rate is exceeding it's normal rhythm again.

When she left to get her portion, I collapsed onto my seat.

"Calm the fuck down. 26 is not an age to get heart attacks. Especially if you kill titans as a job, Levi. " I scolded myself.

After regaining my composure, again, she came back.

I told her to settle down on the seat opposite me.

She did and started to eat.

It wasn't silent like when I first met her. We were on good terms, after all, I did permit her to use my name in private.

She started to talk about anything with me and I even joined in. I am the talkative type after all.

It was actually really enjoyable. Just like all the other times when we were training. If you air heads didn't figure it out already, we've only been talking through training regimens, walks to destinations and meal time. Office visits from her are non-existent unless I needed something so this whole office dinner thing is a first.

So as I repeat again, it was really enjoyable.

That is, until I asked her, "Why did you smile at me?"

That's when it grew silent. I took it as she didn't want me to continue prying further, that is, until she answered me.

"Because I like you. " She smiles again. "I will see you at training tomorrow again, Levi. Goodnight. " She bids me with a gentle voice then heads out.

While I sat there, still in shock.

I'm definitely having a heart attack now.

That night, after our little dinner, I had laid on my bed, staring at the ceiling, heart rate increasing again. Everything just like before, my heart attack symptoms.

Why?

Because the image of (Name) smiling at me, the one who everyone cowers at, was imprinted in my mind.

Because she said she liked me, the stone cold Corporal, even if it has been a year or so.

To my liking or not, it was there, and it was staying.

But, it wasn't a bad thing, entirely.

Because the problems came with a warm, fuzzy feeling which I enjoyed very much.

"And that, you little brats, is how your mother stole my heart." Levi said with a hint of love in his monotonous voice.

As if on cue, the three brats all 'Ooh-ed'.

"I can't believe you thought you were having a heart attack!" You said while laughing your ass off. The laugh which only Levi, the kids, Mikasa, Erwin and Hanji had the privilege of hearing.

To think Levi actually broke your walls and brought the crazy bitch out of you. Of course, you broke his too but he was still a stoic prick. Just more expressive and awkward~

"Tch. Shut up. " He growled playfully as he tackled you down on the floor without hurting you, giving you feverish kisses all over your neck.

"Ewwww!!!" (Daughter's name) screamed and ran away. Her ebony hair bouncing along the wind that knocked through them.

"Cover your eyes, (son #2). " (Son #1) commanded with Levi's voice but a notch higher and softer. Like a mix of your's and Levi's.

"Okay~ " (son #2) obeyed while his tiny palms enveloped his (E/c) eyes.

"You know why I still smile at you?" You said smiling, after calming down from your giggling reaction at your kids.

"Enlighten me. " Levi mumbled into your neck, and smiled after hearing the words.

The words that held a meaning that only he had the privilege of receiving.

The words that had him skipping a fucking heart beat.

The words that gave him multiple heart problems.

"Because I love you. "
