(y/n) POV

It's another normal day. I officially joined Hanji's squad and worked around the clock with her. I love working with her she may be a little crazy but she's great. Right now I'm out in the stalls tending to my horse, (h/n), I brush (his/her) (h/c) coat, making it shine. Finally satisfied with my work I left the stalls. As I was walking up, I noticed people walking in the distance. I instantly noticed Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Connie and Jean. Jean noticed me and waved. Surprised to see him, I ran and jumped into his arms almost making him fall back. He stiffed a laugh and hugged me back.

"Jean what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Hey (y/n), I decided to join the Regiment instead." He said still hugging me. We pulled away.

"Wow almost everyone is here. Minus Marco. Couldn't convince him other wise could ya? Oh well he is set in his ways. He's been talking about serving the King since we were kids. I wish I could have seen him but things came up." I stopped my rambling to see everyone's heads hanging. "Whats wrong?" I asked concerned. Jean engulfed me in his arms.

"(y/n)," Jean said, his voice wavering. "Marco is dead." I was taken aback by this.

"No he can't be. He's the best I know. He...He...This is a sick joke isn't it? It has to be. Please tell me it is I won't be mad I promise! Tell me!"I now was shouting. Jean tightened his embrace. I could feel his tears hit my uniform jacket. Mikasa placed a hand on my free shoulder. This is real. This happened. Marco. You are dead? But our promise?

------------------Flash Back------------------

Marco ran up the hill ahead of me. I ran after him as fast as I could, getting frustrated that I couldn't catch him. He jumped in victory as he reached the top before me. When I reached the top, I pushed him over.

"Ow (Y/N) that's not nice," Marco giggled. I threw myself on the ground next to him.

"It's my birthday you could have let me win," I pouted. Marco laughed and put a flower behind my ear.

"There Happy 15th (Y/n)" I smiled and looked up at the clouds.

"Hey Marco lets make a deal. Grad day, we run up a hill to remember our first year." I said.

"Yeah, I'll still beat you but as you wish Birthday girl." Marco turned onto his side. His smile was as bright as ever. I rolled my eyes.

"What ever, I'll be faster in three years. And I'll be top of the class." I said.

"Wow confidant aren't we?" I stood up and looked down the hill.

"Yeah," I said stretching out. "Someone has to give you a run for your money," Marco laughed.

"Yeah I'll have to get top ten to make it into the military police won't I?"

"Yep" I said popping the 'p'. "I'll be sure to stand in front of you too," I said smiling back at him.

"Uh huh," He said sarcastically. I headed down the hill. But my clumsy ass decided to trip over literally nothing. I tried to grab anything, and ended up grabbing Marco, who had made his way to my side. Intentionally, I pulled us both down the hill. When we finally hit the bottom, I was groaning in pain and Marco was laughing his ass off. "Miss two left feet!" Marco teased me.

"That looked like it hurt." Someone said off to the side. Eren ran over to and stood over me. He teal eyes were locked with mine. "That was funny," He said still standing over me. I blushed lightly out of embarrassment and the fact our faces were really close. Just as he was leaning closer, I kicked him over.

"Let me get up," I said sitting up, trying to hid my now deep red blush. Marco was still laying next to me, amused by me. Suddenly Jean came out if no where and offered Marco his hand. Eren did the same for me.

Then, we just enjoyed each others presents. We thought we were going to live forever. Tears slowly fell from my eyes. I didn't even realize I was crying. Jean pulled out of our hug, his eyes are red and water stained.

"I'm sorry (y/n) I couldn't save him." I couldn't find any words. My mind shut off and my body took action. I ran. I didn't know where, I just needed to run. I ran up a hill and stopped next to a tree. This place. I knew it. Eren and I kissed here the first day of training. Marco and I raced up this hill. I shared my secrets here with Jean.

-----------------Flash Back----------------

I am useless. I could barely stand in the 3MG. Hell even Armin was able to do it first try. There was no way I could continue to be a soldier. I remember Dad saying something about the people who left training, left on the field. He said they were cowards. They were as good as dead to him. Tears fell on my face. They think I'm a coward. They hate me now don't they. I sat up from where I was sitting in the tree. One leg was hanging off and the other was tucked under my body. I reached into my uniform jacket and pulled out the loaded gun I stole from the main desk. I pulled the hammer back and pointed the gun at my temple.

"Well that doesn't look very safe," A soft voice said below me. I snapped and put the gun down. Standing under the tree looking up at me was Jean. "You could pull the trigger and die you know." He said in a joking yet not manner. I looked away from him.

"Yea that's kinda the point," I said as new tears formed in my eyes.

"Huh. What makes you want to do a thing like that?" I climed out of the tree and looked Jean in the eye.

"I'm nothing more than a no good coward. I have failed and I get sent home tomorrow. Marco passed. I have no one to return to but I have disappointed many. I am incapable of doing simple things. My father said people who get sent home or leave are as good as dead." Jean looked taken aback. He pulled my hand together and throw me twords the ground. "Hey what the.." Jean throw a punch at me. I blocked it and kicked him in the leg. I stood up as he charged at me. I delivered a solid punch to his midsection. He elbowed me in the back of the head. I grabbed his arm and threw him over me and pinned him with my leg on his chest. He smiled up at me.

"What the hell?" I shouted at him. Jean started to laugh. "Whats so funny?"

"You say you are worthless but you can kick some serious ass. Hell I'm almost a foot taller and I weigh more. But look. You got me."

"So what if I can fight?" I let Jean up.

"Give it one more try, everything not just the gear but also at life. Please. Only when you try, I'll give you this back," He said and pulled out the gun from behind his back. I was shocked that he got it from me. He opened the chamber and emptied the bullets. "Oh and I won't tell Marco. I'm good at keeping secrets." He said and winked at me.

Yeah lots of things have happened at this tree. Lots has changed. Too much. Marco. You are my best friend. Then and there, I fell and cried. And it wasn't to long before I was asleep.

Eren's Pov (Long Chapter go me!)

I'm out cleaning the stables right now and looking for (Y/n). I haven't seen her in a while. Levi probably is keeping us apart.

"Hey Eren!" A voice calls out behind me. I see Mikasa and Armin running at me.

"Hey guys! What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Have you seen (Y/n)?" Armin asked.

"No not recently why what happened?" I asked now concerned.

"She ran off. Jean told her that Marco died." that took me back. Her and Marco were best friends. They grew up together. This has to be hard for her.

"Alright where would she go?" Armin said.

"Levi maybe?"

"No they hate each other right now," I said. Come on Eren think. Where would she go? Then it hit me. "I think I know where she is" I sai. I put down my broom and took off running to the tree.

Surely enough there she was. Laying asleep under the tree. In her hand she was holding the necklace her father gave her. I walked over to her and brushed her (h/l) (h/c) hair out of her face. Her eyes were red from crying, her normally bright smile was turned into a frown. Looking at her made me saw. She was normally so bright. Happy. My girl. It breaks me to see her like this.

I gently lifted her up in my arms and carried her bridal style to her room. I placed her on the bed and laied down next to her. I want to be the first thing she sees when she wakes up.
