Chapter 10
*Anusha Pov*
"Wake up!" I mumbled the moment I felt the vegetables and stove before my eyes and immediately opened them.
I groaned, sitting up and glanced at Satvik to see him sleeping. I smiled and got up from the bed and started getting ready.
"Satvik! Please get up." I whispered, leaning over him and started tapping his shoulder.
"Whoever you are don't disturb me." He mumbled making me frown.
"How is it to be at the receiving end?" he asked, opening one eye and I immediately hit his shoulder.
"I have so much to do and I need your help. So, get ready and take me out." I said, moving away to take out his clothes while he walked into the washroom shaking his head.
"Where do you want to go?" he asked after getting dressed and walked out of the dressing room.
"I need to buy some vegetables." I replied making him frown.
"Why? Mom generally makes sure there is never any less stock of them." He said and I shook my head.
"Not for whole house, but for me, Satvik." I explained and his eyes widened.
"Sha! Don't try to go separately because they will accept it and will build a wall to not let you enter." He said with worry covering his features.
"Satvik! I am not going separate. These are for my experiment, that is, I want to accomplish this task of cooking and I felt it is better to get some items by myself and not disturb their actually things." I explained and he nodded with relief.
"I don't know much about what to buy and how much. So, I need your help." I added and he smiled, holding my hand before we both started climbing down the stairs.
"I don't want too much okay." I mumbled when he started buying and he nodded before continuing to purchase while explaining me everything which to take and which to leave.
"How did you get this much knowledge?" I asked, sitting in his car after our purchase.
"I am my Mom's boy, okay! So, I always tag with her wherever she goes and I observed whatever she does while doing these things." He replied shrugging.
"I am surprised you didn't become a chef." I said smiling.
"Well, the first time I was near the stove, I got a burn and Mom immediately forbidden me from touching the stove ever again." He said with a smile but the smile fell off and a sad expression appeared.
"I can understand you are sad because she is distant. And I don't think she will be for much long." I mumbled holding his hand.
"Her distance is hurting me more than anything or anyone's behavior." He whispered and started driving.
"Shopping in the morning?" Manvi commented the moment I walked in the kitchen with the vegetables while Satvik left for our room to get ready for work.
"Yeah! Can I help with something?" I asked after putting the purchases inside the refrigerator.
"Everything is done." She replies and I nod at her before look around to see Aunty frowning at me but gestured Manvi to carry the things.
"I will take some." Saying that I took the few and rushed out of the kitchen before they can stop me with a grin covering my face and just then Satvik entered the dining room.
Satvik raised his eyebrow's looking at me, but I just gave him a wink, making him cough while I chuckled before placing the dishes on the table.
"Is this the reward for taking you to vegetable shopping?" he asked in a whisper when I walked near him to sit down.
"How about taking your reward after returning to home from your work?" I asked in a whisper and he stared at me with wide eyes while I smirked before calming down my expression when everyone walked into the dining area.
After they all left, Aunty and Manvi left towards the rooms to do the work while I stayed in the kitchen to start my work.
"You can definitely do this, Anusha. If you can't then no one can, right?" after giving myself a long speech I started cutting the vegetable with as much excitement as possible to achieve this task.
"Yes!" I gave a shout after tasting the curry and grinned at my first ever successful. Finally after a week of trying, I got it right.
Suddenly a few moments happened before me with Manvi tasting my curry when I was flowing in the excitement and suddenly smiled saying, "It is good!"
"Err... thanks!" I whispered, giving an awkward smile.
"You don't want to talk to me?" she asked, frowning and I frowned at her back.
Well, I should be looking forward to create bonds with the family, but after the last week's incident of how she complained about me, I decided to stay away from her and got succeeded until today.
"I just don't want you to say that I mocked something or anything else." I replied turning off the stove.
"I only told them what you did." She said with a confused expression.
"I didn't! I just said those words that my Mom will think all this is weird because you kind of said something regarding my Mom's living choice." I explained.
"But I was just telling you that I felt amazed." She mumbled.
"Amazed?" I asked her frowning.
"Yeah! You see My Mom is like perfect housewife and she made sure I know each and every work. After the marriage, even here Aunty was like that. So, when you talked about your Mom, I felt surprised, but then you kind of said those words and I felt you were looking down at all this because we were the same and nothing special." She explained and I stared at her.
I realized one thing that she actually doesn't know how to talk and the second thing would be she has some serious issues which can be insecurities too, and they will cover with her understanding of other people's words if the other people are not close to her.
"Okay! Let's forget all that." I offered and she nodded, smiling but that smile slipped.
"Mom still doesn't like you." She mumbled and I know she wants to be in the distance because of Aunty.
"But she is not that angry now. She is kind of observing you." She added in a whisper.
"Really?" I asked in a whisper and she nodded.
"Thanks for the tip." I mumbled and took the curry in a bowl before taking a little but in a small bowl before leaving the kitchen in search of my mother-in-law.
I saw her dusting the living room and stopped when she saw me holding the bowl with my smile in place.
"Can you taste, Aunty?" I asked and moved the spoon near her before she can say anything.
She stared at it for a second before taking the spoon from me and tasted it before nodding at me saying, "It is good!"
"Thank you!" I whispered, turning around and walked back into the kitchen with a broad smile now.
And my joy increased when I got a call from a company calling me for interview the next day. It is a small company, but well this is still a good chance.
I paced in our room waiting for Satvik with an excitement to share the news as soon as possible and grinned when he finally entered the room.
"Satvik!" saying that I rushed near him and pulled him for a kiss and he chuckled when I released him.
"Missed me this much?" he asked and I shook my head before sharing the news about the interview.
"That's great!" he said, hugging me.
"And today I got succeed with a curry and your Mom even tasted and said it is good." I added and he stepped back with a shocked expression.
"Sha!" he whispered and lifted me up in his arms before twirling me around making me laugh.
"Are you serious, Satvik? Put me down." I said hitting his shoulder and he immediately did but hugged me tightly.
"I am just happy." He whispered and we stayed like that for some time before I stepped back so that he can freshen up and we even need to reach downstairs.
The next day I didn't do any cooking, but helped them a little with a few things before they can stop me and waved at Satvik who wished me luck before leaving.
"Which curry will you cook today?" Manvi asked when I reached downstairs after getting ready.
"Actually, I am leaving for my interview." I replied smiling.
"Interview?" she asked and I nodded, taking a sip from the glass feeling nervous before glancing at the kitchen entrance to see Aunty standing with a blank expression covering her features.
"I will leave." I mumbled and left the house when I know cab would have reached before leaving for the company.
"We will let you know by mail." That's all the HR team said and I nodded at them before thanking them.
The moment I walked out, I called Satvik and he immediately asked, "How was it?"
"It went well and they said they will let me know soon." I replied smiling at his nervous tone.
"Uff! See, you were unnecessarily nervous." He scolded, making me laugh.
"Okay! I am leaving for home now." I said and we both hung up.
However, after reaching the house I realized everything that progressed went into still form with the silence from Manvi too.
And it continued even during dinner, but I couldn't share it with Satvik right now. What if I am just assuming and he gets worried without any reason?
Still, I wanted to know what is going on. So, when I reached our room and Satvik stayed back to spend some time with his family, I calmly climbed down the stairs not making a sound and stayed hidden from their sight.
"Anusha went for an interview today." Manvi started the conversation as I expected.
"Okay!" Uncle said making me sigh in relief.
"Of course it is okay. We are making sure to send you guys for work and now we will have someone else to do work for." Aunty said making me wince.
"Mom!" Satvik said and I rolled my eyes, knowing well he will not say anything other than that to her.
"What is the need for her to work? Satvik is working, right?" Manvi asked and I can take her words as she is trying to create problems, but after conversing for the past few days I know she is genuinely confused regarding that and believes that with her heart.
"She is good at what she does and I don't think it is any wrong thing for her to work." Satvik said making me smile.
"Yes! We have seen her work and I think it is a good thing she is trying to continue her work." Jatin said and I stilled.
"Jaya! She even beat our company many times along with her brother. She was a complete asset for her father's company and he is a fool to let her go. Still, if she wants to work, then let her. Maybe we should have persuaded her to work for us." Uncle added and I shook my head climbing up the stairs sighing.
These businessmen always think about business. I may not be good as a daughter-in-law but for business these both men are completely up for it.
Well, at least not everyone is opposing for this. I am not going to stop working just because she doesn't want me to. I know I will go mad if I sit at home and I am not going to change that.
But yeah, I need to make sure she doesn't have any complaints for sure. And why am I thinking this much when I didn't even get their response.
With that thought I opened the mail and immediately stilled seeing a mail from the HR team in my inbox. I opened it and squealed reading the mail.
"I got the job." I said the moment Satvik entered our room with a deep thinking expression but smiled hearing my words.
"That's amazing, Sha. I need a party." He said walking near to me.
"Sure! Just let me start working." I said, hugging him and he hugged me back.
"Okay!" he whispered pressing a kiss to my forehead and we stayed like that with me thinking how to handle everything from tomorrow onwards.
