Willows POV

I get to leave early. I start college next week. I get to leave this house. I have been packing my car slowly over time. My mom has been helping me and stashing money in the glovebox for me when my dad isn't home.

I'm ready. I need to leave or I won't see high school graduation. I can feel it in my bones.

I sigh as I gather the last few pieces of clothing I want to take in my last suitcase.

My Dad is gone in another business trip and Tyler and Ryan are at another party. I know they will be home in a few hours drunk and I know what Tyler will have in store for me.

I shudder at the thought of his hands on me again. But I feel a sense of relief that once I leave I never have to come back unless I actually want too.

The only reason I would come back is to save my mom if she wanted.

I know she's stuck. I know she has nowhere to go but maybe if I can break this cycle then I can bring my mom when I find my own place.

I sigh as I go down the stairs quickly to find my mom by the front door.

"Don't tell me where you are going Minnow. I don't want to know in case I accidently say something. Just be safe please. I have stuffed more then enough cash in your glove compartment. Your account has been set up. The money your grandparents left you for college has already been sent to the school you told the banker. Everything is covered." She said quickly.

"I love you mama. I will come back for you. I promise." I whispered.

She only smiled softly back at me.

"Now leave before anyone comes home." She said pushing me out the door.

I hurriedly got into the car and sped off. Too afraid to look back and too afraid that I would turn around and not end up leaving for my mom's sake.

It took 22 hours of driving and 12 hours of sleeping in a rest area in the middle of nowhere to get to my new home.

Today was orientation day and it was already 7am. I looked out over the parking lot to see barely a soul there but a young man standing on the sidewalk with a hat that had our school emblem on it.

According to my welcome paperwork I needed to find him or someone with that hat.

I felt the overwhelming need to go to him though. Even though a girl about 100 feet from him was standing there smiling and already talking to a new freshmen I assumed.

I grabbed my backpack from the front seat and adjusted my hoodie and walked towards him. My hair that had come undone from my messy bun was whipping around my face in the wind.

"Good Morning." I said softly.

I think I scared him when he jumped and when he finally met my eyes he smiled. He had dark brown hair that looked messy but I know it was just that type of look. His green eyes shone in the early morning light. And his tanned skin gave off the farmer tan vibe.

"Good morning. Freshman?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Awesome. I'm Michael by the way." He said smiling and sticking out his hand to shake.

"Willow." I answered back.

"I like that. It's my favorite movie too." He said with a chuckle.

"I love that movie too." I said giving him a small smile.

"Let's go to the housing building and find out where you are staying." He said and led the way.

I had no clue that this boy right here would be the one to change my world.
