~• September •~
The musky scent of rain and earth lingered in the air,
I could still smell July on my fingertips.
As I walked through my garden, with my feet bare,
The fresh droplets of rain gathered on my lips.
But then August came with its gusts of wind,
Rustling the leaves as their blades turned golden,
Then the flowers in my garden began to wilt,
Their petals withering, their fragrances stolen.
It wasn't long before I felt September,
As the days were warm but cool were the nights.
A month nestled gently between fall and winter,
But it will pass too as October spreads its light.
All these months will fade in a beautiful harmony,
Blessing our eyes with a million different shades.
The fall season will give way to winter's symphony,
The withered trees will be covered in snowflakes.
But even in the coldest of December,
When lights shine upon frosted window panes.
I will not forget that night in September,
When you and I walked down memory lane.
