CHAPTER 54
Windows to another world.

Am I going to do this?
Throughout the night, despite the terror she experienced, she couldn't shake off that feeling. Still, she questioned herself, unsure if she was ready to take that leap.
As he opened the passenger side door and settled into the seat, he leaned in towards her, prompting her to smile.
"Thank you for tonight," she said. She gave Kelly a very gentle kiss on his cheek.
As she sat back and put her seatbelt on, Kelly started the car.
His Bluetooth connected to the phone, and he played the list from earlier.
The ride to Maxine's from his uncle's house to hers would only take fifteen minutes, and she wasn't in a rush to go home.
As the streetlights passed over the top of the car, they stole quick glances, neither knowing about the other.
"You handled that well," he said. "And you definitely won my Aunt Aisling over."
A smile spread across his face, his heart beating as he admired her exquisite beauty.
"Your family is great. I can see why you're so close to them," she said. Now I know where you get your concern and kindness from.
The night's interactions, the gentle hugs, and the brushes against each other's shoulders and cheeks ignited a wildfire of arousing emotions within her.
For Maxine, these touches were not meant to flirt or tease but to convey a different sentiment. They were meant to comfort and protect her, letting her know he was there.
Now that it was over, at least for the moment, those feelings changed. Weeks of kissing, gentle petting, and loving each other led her to a matter-of-fact conclusion.
"Kelly," she said. "Can you pull into that parking lot?"
Maxine moved closer to him, pointing to his left. As she did, she put her hand on the inside of his thigh.
With every passing second, her arousal intensified, and a soothing, warm feeling washed over her spine.
Kelly put the blinker on and slowed until a truck passed the opposite way. He pulled into Isaac Wrightman Esquire's empty parking lot. The area was well-lit and isolated.
Kelly's heart throbbed, and he yearned to reach out and take Maxine's hand or a strand of her dark brown hair. But he respected her and what she'd just experienced. And he'd always stay within the bounds.
She saw his hand edging over the seat and drifted her palm next to his, feeling their flesh brush against each other.
"There's a sensation I get," said Maxine. "I don't know. Call it a revelation. But when we look into each other's eyes, I see happiness and sadness intertwined and inseparable."
Kelly's eyes widened in disbelief as those words echoed in her ears. His heart raced, her fingertips tingling with the residual excitement of the evening's events.
He didn't expect to hear something like that, but he'd still approach her with the greatest of caution. With a tall stature, he turned towards her and tucked his foot under his thigh. He was slow to reach out and take some of her hand into his own.
When he touched her cheek with his palm, she pressed against it with hers, her eyes closed.
Maxine felt her lips swelling as her arousal spread. Her mouth dropped open as her breath became shallow.
Kelly readjusted his shoulders, opening his mouth and placing his lips against hers. At first, it's tender and intimate, their breath hot. But before long, Maxine extended her tongue, feeling the smooth texture of his upper lip against hers. He reciprocated her gesture, deepening the kiss as he explored the cavern of her mouth. Their hearts raced as the tension of arousal and attraction grew, culminating in an explosive kiss.
Maxine kneeled in her seat, her hands spread across his cheeks and ears. As Kelly thrust his chest forward, she could feel his breath on her face, a mix of anticipation and desire.
Max pulled away, smiling and raging to have him inside of her. But not in her car in the parking lot of a lawyer's office.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I hope I didn't cross a line."
"No, not at all," she said.
But I'm about to cross them all. And in a life-changing way.
He put the car in drive, pulled to the concrete apron of the parking lot, and sped into the street. Her insides were still on fire.
She felt safe with him. Complete security in his presence and touch. But she would feel better with him in her bed.
"I'm sorry. I have to protect you."
"Kelly, it's not that at all. I promise."
The feeling had been haunting her all night despite the terror she experienced. Still, she questioned herself, her mind filled with doubts, unsure if she was ready to take that leap.
She settled into the passenger's seat, the anticipation building as she waited for him to join her in the car. When he did, she leaned closer, her breath mingled with his.
"Thank you for tonight," she said. She gave Kelly a very gentle kiss on his cheek.
As she sat back and put her seatbelt on, Kelly started the car. His Bluetooth connected to the phone, and he played the list from earlier.
The ride to Maxine's from his uncle's house to hers would only take fifteen minutes, and she wasn't rushing to go home.
As the streetlights passed over the top of the car, they stole glances, neither knowing about the other.
Kelly intended not to flirt or provoke but to express a distinct emotion. His strong and sturdy presence provided comfort and protection, reminding her she was not alone.
With the ordeal now behind her, even if only for a moment, she felt a shift of emotions. A wave of warmth and comfort washed over her, making her feel safe and content.
The culmination of weeks spent kissing, gentle touching, and adoring each other brought her to a practical conclusion.
"Kelly," she said. "Can you pull into that parking lot?"
She inched closer to him, her arm outstretched as she pointed to his left, directing his gaze. As she did, her fingers traced a tantalizing path along the inside of his thigh, igniting a surge of desire. Her arousal intensified with every passing second, and she felt a soothing heat wash over her spine.
Kelly put the blinker on and slowed until a truck passed the opposite way. He pulled into Isaac Wrightman Esquire's empty parking lot. The area was well-lit and isolated. His heart now pounding, he yearned to reach out and take Maxine's hand or a strand of her dark brown hair. But he respected her and what she'd just experienced. And he'd always stay within the bounds.
Her eyes caught sight of his hand inching over the seat, prompting her to place her palm next to his, savoring the sensation of their flesh making contact. Her lower lip quivered as she locked eyes with him, a mix of nervousness and desire coursing through her.
"There's a sensation I get," she said. "I don't know. Call it a revelation. But when we look into each other's eyes, I see happiness and sadness intertwined and inseparable."
Surprised, Kelly's eyes widened. He didn't expect to hear something like that after a night like this, but Kelly would still be cautious. Regardless, he sat tall, turned to her, and tucked his foot under his thigh. He was slow to reach out and take some of her hair into his own.
As he released her hair and caressed her cheek, she leaned into his touch, savoring the warmth against her skin, her eyes shut.
I promise."
She was terrified but filled with ecstasy at the thought of him in her bed, on top of her and bringing her to the fullness of her womanhood. Her mind conjured erotic images of what he would do to her, and she indulged in every single one. Maxine knew she had to be the one to make a move towards her desires, as he wasn't willing to cross that line, at least not yet.
"Do you want to stay with me tonight?"
Kelly pulled into the driveway and stopped near the front walkway. He resisted making assumptions about her intentions, yet his primal instincts longed for her body.
"Well, I don't know. I mean," he stammered. "I want to. God knows how much. But—"
Maxine didn't let him finish. She leaned in and kissed him, their tongues becoming intertwined in a passionate dance. As her hand rested on Kelly's thigh, her fingers brushed against him by mistake. She felt it, hard and straining against the fabric of his jeans. Her fingers glided over his shaft, relishing in the sensation. She watched his eyes shut and his head tilted back.
Kelly turned the car off and let loose his seatbelt. He put his hand on the back of her neck and kissed her. She sighed and moaned when she put her palm against his erection and rubbed it up and down.
He left her mouth, kissed her neck, and his hands found her breasts over her cable-knit sweater dress.
"Let's go inside," she moaned.
Touching and tasting, they made their way out of the car and hurried to the front door. Kelly grabbed her from behind as Max put the key in the lock. He pressed against her, and she pushed back.
When she opened the door, they pushed through, Kelly slamming it behind them. She took him by the collar and pushed him up against the wall in the foyer next to the stairs.
She grabbed at his belt as he pushed through her panties. She took hold of his zipper and pulled it open.
The dim light from the living room lamp illuminated him enough for her to see him and his perfect shape.
Their lips locked, and their tongues danced as he dropped her panties and lifted her dress over her thigh-high laced boots.
She bent her knee toward her hip, unzipped, and tossed them. Kelly was already pulling on her sweater dress, helping it past her chest and shoulders. When she flung it from her head, she unsnapped her bra, spilling herself into full view and firmness.
He picked her up, taking her into his mouth. Maxine crossed her ankles against his back as he walked her into the living room and took her gently to the floor. No sooner did her back touch the warmth of her faux shag carpet than did he go in.
And when he propped himself on one arm, and the other pulled her leg back, he went in as deep as he could.
She pointed her toes toward the ceiling as the tension grew inside her.
A powerful surge of ecstasy coursed through her, causing her toes to curl and her back to arch. The sensation traveled through her body, from her spine to her feet.
"How are you doing this to me, Kelly?" she moaned, yelled, and dug her fingernails into his back.
She found his glaring hazel eyes locked like a laser beam, firing her to a prolonged orgasm.
"Max, I can't hold it anymore," he sighed and suddenly quickened the pace of his thrusts.
When he finished, he looked Maxine in the eyes. Her mouth was open, and they were alive and glistening in the low light. Her face was flushed, and her hair sat wild on her face, shoulders, and chest.
He took it all in and dropped to his elbows so he was close enough to feel her breathing.
"Maxine," he said, sliding his nose against hers. He twirled her hair with his fingers as she rubbed her feet up and down his calf and thigh.
"Kelly." She kissed him and wrapped her legs around his thighs, her fingernails rubbing up and down his spine.
"Maxine." He was still inside of her. "Maxine McMenamin, I've never been this in love. I want it to be a lifetime."
Maxine's eyes glazed and filled with tears. Her smile was wide. She pursed her lips as the tears fell toward her ears.
"Maxine, I don't want to search anymore. And I can't make a case for loving me, but I hope you will, and someday we can spend the rest of our lives together."
He wiped a tear and waited. Maxine felt overwhelmed. Her body still quivered from what he had done.
She sniffled, smiled, and laughed.
"Kelly," she said, sniffling again. "I love you," her voice cracked. "I have never felt safer, more loved, or more cared for in my lifetime. You are the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me, and I want to cherish you for the rest of my days."
They went upstairs, got into bed, and held onto each other for the rest of the night. They didn't leave each other's embrace. There were no nightmares, fears, or disturbances. In each other's arms, a new world had blossomed.
