Guess who I saw today?

I saw your friend Mariah. She came to the theater to see a new movie, and since no one was behind her in line, I went ahead and asked her a few questions.

"Can I ask you something?" was how I started.

"I guess," she said.

"What do you know about Annabel's whereabouts? Tell me everything you know."

"She got home from Hawaii four or five days ago. Why?"

"She told me she was going for the month."

"Really? Who stays in Hawaii that long?"

"I wondered that as well. Did you see her Facebook photo?"

"I did. As I told you, she's a hopper."

"I was afraid of that."

"I heard she started going out with Wesley yesterday."

Despite everything, I still felt a pang in my chest. "She hasn't talked to me at all."

"Huh. Typical Annabel. You're better off staying away. She probably just wanted you for the money or something."

I shrugged, trying to hide how much this actually hurt. "Thanks, I appreciate it. Enjoy the movie."

"No problem. Good luck."

And that's what happened. I'm a little disappointed that you used me like that, Annabel, but a little relieved. If you want to hang around with Wesley, then there is nothing stopping me from hanging around Lucy.
