Reading Taehyung's letter, Aria felt a little floored. Stunned actually.
She had expected to find a letter of heart wrenching anguish, screaming unfairness of the life, declaration of love with more pain.
That was what was expected to the Taehyung she had come to know through the Letters she had read.
This, this letter was . . . in a way, disturbing.
Aria felt a little chilled at reading it. She stood up and backed a little away from his remains.
The cold confident assurance of Taehyung in knowing the following death of her grandmother was . . . Dark. Although his unconditional love for her was more than apparent, something in this letter felt like, like, he had changed somehow.
Changed a little.
Aria gave the letter to So-ra and started searching for the other page while she read it. She looked for it everywhere, even finding the discarded pen, but she could not find the other sheet of paper.
Confused, she looked again when So-ra's gasp drew her eyes to the older woman.
"Aria! I knew it!"
"What?"
So-ra came towards her quickly and spoke the line from the letter.
"My soul shall remain beside you as long as you breathe. I will not leave you alone."
Aria looked at So-ra again, "Yes, so?"
"So," the older woman said, "What if they are both trapped here? If he did not move on, maybe she didn't too?"
Aria blinked at that. She looked back at the remains to Taehyung and shook her head, feeling a sudden headache blooming.
"Lets go back. We'll discuss that subject and the cremation upstairs."
So-ra nodded and the both looked back yet again at his skeleton. The boy who lived in the very house 59 years back.
Feeling a fresh bout of tears coming to surface, Aria and So-ra exited the room, letting two lights remain on out of respect. They left the cellar with its light switched on, but closed the door as they went to the kitchen
The cellar remained quiet.
Minutes passed as everything remained as it was.
It was an hour after Aria and So-ra had succumbed to an exhausted sleep that a warm presence came to the basement. That presence floated down the stairs, standing in the cellar, waiting.
An answering cold presence stirred from the room, a darkness forming rapidly, forming fast. It swirled in a hazy black cloud as it shot out of the room and into the cellar, floating, and suspended before the light soul.
Both the souls had been in the house for 58 years.
Both had been unaware of each other's presence, a curse keeping the dark soul from leaving the basement, a space where the light presence stayed away from. Still bound in its human memories, the light presence had been afraid of the darkness, had not known the significance of it, thinking her lover to be a light soul as her. it had not known the truth, had not recognized her lover as the darkness.
The pain in her last human life had been so acute, that it had scarred her real form, her soul. The impression the pain had left had caused her human memories to remain so strong, that her true form, her true memories had not emerged.
She had been longing to meet her lover, had been waiting for him while trying to shield the house and its inhabitants from the extremely deadly, violent dark presence in the basement, which never emerged out.
The dark presence, had reverted back to its true form the second his human form had died. He had shaken off the human cage to embrace its true form, cherishing his real identity, his real tie with the true form of his human Love.
But he had fast understood that she still had remained oblivious to it.
So, he had waited. Waited for her to come to him, keeping his promise he had made to stay beside her. Happily waited years, just for her.
Because unknown to the light soul lost to reality, that promise was something he had made in his true form to her too.
Him, and six others.
The light presence started swirling around rapidly, attaining its true conscious, its powerful nature, becoming brighter, more radiant. Her power burst through to shape her, a pure light of extreme brilliance.
The darkness waited. It rejoiced at seeing the beautiful light again.
"Taehyung . . ." the shapeless cloud took a feminine shape, its voice melodic and sweet.
She went towards him, knowing it to be pointless, knowing that she would not reach him, but she still tried. The past life had been difficult for her, it had been an ocean of despair that had stripped away her memories, but now that she knew who she was, what she was, she recognized the brutally deadly darkness to be her human lover's actual form.
She knew of the curse, on the eight of them, but still she tried to reach him.
The darkness too, tried in vain to merge with the light, wanting to touch her, but before the entities could touch, the swirling tides of the curse caused an invisible barrier to form against the female. It caught her securely and snatched her away to a different dimension, taking her away before she could touch her Love, for whom she had waited so long.
The lights in the basement burst one by one, the lights of the house going out as well, when a might surge of power took away the protesting light presence, vanishing from the realm forever, leaving the darkness, resigned at its fate.
The Lovers, who had been mercilessly separated in their human lives, who had waited for the other for 58 years, were only granted one glance.
One glance.
Through this time too, they could not touch each other, did not get to feel each other.
Their wait, yielded just a glance. Cruelly, just, one lingering glance.
The second got over, as the turbulence died down.
Silence descended again.
Instantly, six other entities manifested around him, each having gone through one lifetime with her, only to be separated. They looked at the spot she had been, feeling the remaining energy.
Each of the seven dark entities had spent a lifetime with her, each creating memories of love, laughter and tears. In the end, none could hold on to her. . .
Longingly, they touched that spot, wanting her close to them. Needing her love, wanting her blood.
One entity separated himself from the rest and went in the room having Taehyung's human remains. With a flick of power, it turned it to dust. A letter floated down from behind him, that too it burned.
The dark presences remained standing in the room, left alone to follow through to the next lifetime of meeting her again.
Hoping for a time, where they could all be united again.
Love her again.
