Dear Comrade,

Please don’t ever feel bad that you are labelled “unknown”, you are in no way lessened for not having your name on a headstone. Your kin don’t need to visit a hole in the ground to remember all the things you meant to them, they carry that with them always.

Much more than one person, you represent all fallen soldiers and they you. Whenever someone sees “Unknown Soldier” they think of you as an individual, of their own relatives and of all the brave troops, both allied and enemy, who fought and died for their country and beliefs.

No Unknown Soldier will ever be forgotten and every future generation of squaddies will empathise with your hardships, brace up to commemorate your achievements and raise a glass or three in celebration of a brother-in-arms.
