CHAPTER ELEVEN

( A PROMISE TO THE DEAD )

— ☾ —

"Stiles." Alex started, glancing at Stiles, who was lightly snoring, the boy still sleeping. "Stiles!"

"Hmm?" Stiles hummed quietly, his eyes still tightly shut.

"You've got an early morning practice for the big game tomorrow, remember?" Alex raised her eyebrows, Stiles mumbling something inaudible.

"I don't want to watch an entire lacrosse game if you're gonna suck. So you better not." Alex added with a frown.

"Not gonna suck..." Stiles mumbled, his eyes still tightly closed as his eyebrows furrowed.

"You said you'd drive us early to school so that we can help Malia study for the test." Alex spoke with raised eyebrows.

Stiles groaned, not opening his eyes as he turned around, his back now facing Alex.

"You know, the test that allows her to become a senior with us." Alex continued, her voice raising slightly as Stiles turned away from her. "Stiles!"

Stiles groaned again, his frown deepening, despite his eyes still being closed. Alex groaned in annoyance. She glanced around Stiles' room, suddenly having an idea of how to get him to pay attention.

She flipped Stiles over so that he was facing her, quickly connecting her lips with his, a surprised noise slipping from Stiles' lips at the action.

Stiles' eyes fluttered open shortly in surprise, but then immediately fluttered closed as he kissed the girl back, humming against her lips, his hand going to her cheek as he pulled away abruptly.

He was wide awake now.

"What are you doing? I haven't even brushed my teeth yet." Stiles frowned, his eyes flickering between Alex's.

"I don't care. Plus, I haven't either." Alex smiled as she brought her lips to his once again. Stiles huffed a chuckle at her response, the two kissing again.

Stiles grinned against her lips as he wrapped his arms around the girl, one hand resting on the back of her neck, deepening the kiss, his other hand securing her back.

He rolled her over his body so she was now on the other side of him, the kiss not breaking.

"Lydia? Lydia." Malia spoke, catching Lydia's attention. "Did you hear me? Look, I passed." She held up her paper, smiling as she showed it to Lydia and Alex. Kira smiled from her position, which was sitting in a chair behind Malia.

"C-minus..." Lydia raised her eyebrows.

"Your notes are great when they're not written in code." Malia continued.

Coach slammed her second paper on the desk, a red 'F' on the front. Malia frowned. "Disappointed, Malia. Profoundly disappointed."

"I'll send you my notes." Lydia spoke, Malia nodding.

Kira noticed Lydia glancing at the board, the strawberry blonde letting her mind drift to the dead pool.

Kira leaned over as she whispered to Lydia. "It's over. The computers are off. No more assassins. No more murderers. No one's dying."

"Not yet." Lydia responded quietly, Alex and Kira sharing frowns.

••••

Alex was flipping through a book, the girl lying on Stiles' bed, Stiles sitting at his desk and revising. Noah knocked on the door, walking into his son's room.

Alex and Stiles glanced at him as he spoke.

"Drop what you're doing. I'm taking you both out to dinner." Noah glanced between the two with a smile. "Whatever you want."

"Dad, I don't think a man of your debts should be treating anyone to anything." Stiles responded, sharing a glance with Alex.

"Well, there's one debt we no longer have to worry about." Noah smirked, holding up a letter from Eichen House and handing it to Stiles.

"What is that?" Stiles frowned in question as he glanced at the letter.

"A letter of apology from Eichen House." Noah responded. "Apparently they've decided to forgive our debt due to...uh...well, you and Lydia almost getting murdered."

"They can do that?" Alex asked, glancing between the two with a smirk.

"They can do it, and they did do it." Noah smiled.

"I have never been so happy to have almost been murdered." Stiles smirked, glancing at his dad.

"Well, we're not out of it yet, but we're gonna be okay." Noah responded, Stiles grinning as he nodded once. "And at least for the moment, I can afford to take my son and his girlfriend out to dinner."

Alex chuckled as she stood up, Stiles standing up too.

"Alex, I seem to recall your favourite food being pizza?" Noah asked with a smile, Alex nodding as she smiled.

The Stilinski's, along with the McCall's, always used to treat Alex to birthday dinners, considering she didn't have any family to celebrate her birthday with. They stopped that tradition when Scott got bitten. They just didn't have the time to do birthday dinners all together anymore, but Alex didn't mind.

"Your memory is extremely accurate, Noah." Alex grinned.

••••

Alex sat next to Liam on the player's bench. "Okay, I'm not supposed to be here, but I really couldn't care less."

Liam huffed a chuckle, glancing at the ground. His smile faded as he grew nervous. Stiles was to the other side of Liam.

"They're still not here." Liam started, referring to Kira and Scott.

"Okay, what's really going on?" Stiles asked, knowing Liam wasn't telling him something.

"Are you nervous about the full moon?" Alex added. "It's not for another twenty four hours."

Liam didn't respond, as he just glanced at the moon.

Alex sighed as she spoke again. "Liam, you're gonna be fine, okay?"

"Just try not to rage out on anyone." Stiles added.

"You guys aren't worried?" Liam glanced between the two either side of him.

"Okay, I'm mildly concerned." Stiles responded. "Mildly." The boy picked up his phone and texted Scott, saying 'How late you gonna be? Very worried. Very'.

"We're gonna lose without him." Liam sighed.

"No you're not." Alex shook her head. "You guys can be just as good without Scott. Right?" She glanced at Stiles, who nodded.

"I've been practicing. Let me tell you something, I'm getting good. Really good." Stiles smirked.

"Plus, Liam, you're amazing anyways. You guys are gonna do fine." Alex smiled.

••••

"Neither of them are answering." Alex blew out a breath as she sat next to Liam again on the bench. "I've gotta go see what's going on."

"I'll come." Stiles nodded.

"No, you're staying." Alex frowned. "You have to play, Stiles."

"There's nothing you can say that will change my mind. Let's go." Stiles simply replied, Alex blowing out an annoyed breath, not bothering to argue with him.

"You're leaving? What are you gonna tell Coach?" Liam frowned. The three glanced at Coach, who was a few meters away from them. He angrily threw a ball to the ground, stomping his foot and yelling.

Alex's eyebrows raised, Stiles frowning, Liam's eyebrows raising too.

"Uh, you don't tell him anything, okay?" Stiles spoke, Liam glancing at him.

"Liam, you're gonna be fine." Alex added, trying to reassure Liam, who glanced at the girl.

Stiles and Alex stood up and walked towards Noah and Malia, Alex lightly patting Liam on the shoulder on the way.

"Want me to stay here in case he shows up?" Malia asked as Stiles explained the situation.

"Yeah, that would be great." Alex nodded as her, Stiles, and Noah left.

••••

Alex, Stiles, and Noah walked into the loft, slowing down as they glanced around it. It was completely trashed, Derek and Braeden in the middle.

"What the hell happened?" Stiles started.

"It was supposed to be a date." Derek sighed.

"They were both here?" Noah frowned.

"And they're both gone." Braeden responded, Alex crossing her arms.

Suddenly, Alex's phone rang, the girl picking it up. "Hey, what's up?"

"Scott's been taken." Lydia's voice replied.

"Scott and Kira we just don't know where." Alex responded, putting her phone on speaker so the group could hear Lydia too.

"Mexico." Deaton's voice spoke. "And if you want to save his life, that's where you're going too."
