"Look, Elijah, she's coming in a couple of hours, so you're just going to have to get used to the idea of her living with us for a few months," Jess exclaimed at her fiancé. The latter male was beyond hell-bent on not letting her best friend come to live with the two of them during their wedding preparations.
"Baby, I can do a week. Hell, I'll compromise and do two, but six whole months? No fucking way." Elijah retaliated, refusing to back down this time.
"She's coming to help with our wedding, Elijah."
"No wedding should take six whole months to prepare." He mumbled under his breath, frustrated as he became aware that this was yet another battle with Jess that he would be losing. He'd felt second best in Jess's life most of the time, but when it came to Kylie, he knew he was absolutely second best.
"It does if it's going to be nearly as amazing as ours." She chuckled, gently leaning down and pecking his lips, her fiery red locks tumbling down against Elijah's cheeks as she did so.
"When does she get here?" He sighed, knowing that he would have to tolerate Kylie's every whim if he was going to marry the love of his life. It was literally buy one, get one free with these two.
"At six, oh, and babe, you're going to have to collect her from the airport because I'm working 'til late today." She responded casually as she continued ironing her flimsy white blouse for work.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me now," he grunted as he let his body fall back onto the bed, causing it to creak beneath his weight. He had a total of eight hours to prepare himself for Kylie mentally.
He'd last seen her nearly four years ago when they were all eighteen, and she was still the most obnoxious girl he'd ever met with her extreme sense of self-righteousness.
Jess laughed as she climbed over his body, planting kisses along his neck before hungrily meeting his naturally cardinal-coloured lips that should've been illegal on a member of the male specimen. She quickly allowed her lips to become re-acquainted with his all over again as the two engaged in an intense make-out session.
His hands found their way from her lean and well-sculptured thighs down to her ass and tightly cupped it with his large hands.
He gradually brought his body off the bed, carrying Jess's weight with him before nearly ripping the carefully pressed blouse away from her body.
Elijah and Jess had first begun dating at the tender age of fifteen. Now, seven years later, at twenty-two, you'd think the spark would have long since dissipated. But for Jess, every kiss was still filled with overwhelming emotion and undying longing for each other, as had been the case all those years ago when the two had first clapped eyes on each other.
"I can't do this right now, babe; I've got to get to work." She reluctantly pulled away from the kiss, quickly adjusting her shirt, so she didn't look like she had just had a quickie. Jess felt her cheeks fill with blood at the faint memory of the last time she and Elijah had been at it in her work restroom and how she'd attended an oh-so-important meeting straight after; her lipstick smudged for obvious reasons and her shirt buttoned up all wrong. In a later uncomfortably awkward encounter with the boss, she'd been warned not to let it happen again if she wanted to keep her job.
Elijah groaned loudly. "So, you expect me to put up with the wicked bitch of the west herself, and I don't even get anything for it, either?" He inquired, mocking the pouty face that Jess had completely mastered and would always pull when she wanted something from Elijah.
"Hey, don't call her that." She let her hand bounce against his chest playfully whilst finishing buttoning up the few buttons Elijah had managed to open. Correctly this time.
"I know she's your best friend, and you love her, but you're lying if you think she's not the biggest bitch on the planet. And even that is an insult to bitches everywhere."
"Okay, maybe she's been a little difficult in the past, but I think she'll surprise you this time. When I went to see her in Ireland last year, she was a completely changed person."
"Oh really? Because last I heard, she had a new man trapped in her web." Elijah laughed. He knew for a fact that that girl would never change. She had been a complete man-eater in college, never quite content with one man for too long.
Whilst Elijah and Jess had remained completely monogamous for the past seven years; Kylie had changed her man every couple of months. And on more than one occasion, they had been taken men.
If Britney's 'Womaniser' were re-made into a female version, it would undoubtedly be describing Kylie.
Jess hated talking to Elijah about Kylie, almost as much as she hated talking to Kylie about Elijah. "Kylie is...confused with what she wants in life; that's all, but it doesn't mean she's a bad person. She's always been there for me. Cut her some slack, please?" She pursued her lips.
She couldn't ever pick between the two, for they both had been constants in her life. Her love for both of them was endless and equal. And, she would've loved more than anything for them to get along over these next few months.
"I've got to go to work now, babe. I'll see you later. Love you." Jess stood at the doorway, taking in the perfect view that was Elijah's face. A face framed by warm, dark chocolate curls constantly falling onto his forehead, especially when he furrowed his straight brows in a frown. His skin was slightly olive-toned and matched perfectly with his marble-brown eyes.
The two shared another kiss before Jess finally departed.
-------------------------
According to Jess, Kylie's plane landed at four forty-five. It was now six.
Elijah stood waiting at the airport terminal twelve as Jess had texted him.
Just at that moment, Elijah felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. He spun around to find a glamorous young woman a good seven inches or so below him.
Kylie had light brown hair, the colour of whiskey on ice. Which was a fitting description since one night with Kylie was enough to find yourself intoxicated. The very colour of falling leaves bred with the autumn's first and last rains.
She was wearing what Elijah may have termed a crop top, except it was much too short. Her cleavage was exposed to full view, leaving little left to the imagination, and Elijah, a red-blooded male, couldn't help his wandering eyes becoming fixated upon her chest.
She was wearing tight black leggings, which did everything to compliment her slender legs. And as she twirled around to pick up her tiny pink suitcase, Elijah noticed how accentuated and, quite frankly, huge her back assets were, causing him to choke nearly.
This is not Kylie, certainly not the Kylie I remember. It can't be.
"Elijah? I'm right here." She waved her hands close to his face, noticing how his eyes remained on her cleavage rather than meeting her eyes.
"Kylie?" It was her. The voice just didn't match the appearance anymore.
Her voice had always been high-pitched and distinctive as far back as Elijah could remember. It matched perfectly with her annoying persona at seventeen, but now at twenty-two, it only added to her ever-growing femininity. Elijah couldn't help but find himself contrasting Kylie's alluring voice with Jess's much raspier voice.
"Yes, obvs. Don't you recognise me?" She lifted the RayBans from her eyes, perching them on the top of her head, next to a top-knot bun which had taken hours to perfect. She grinned at him, the dimples on either side of her mouth forming indents in each cheek, ten times deeper than he could remember. Surprisingly, her nose had been pierced and looked good on her nose, which had always been slightly large for her chubby face.
She astonished him further by jumping and engulfing him in her arms. He groaned audibly as he could feel her well-endowed chest pressing up against his hard chest, and from the back, he was offered a perfect view of her ass.
Please, Lord, save me from this vixen's spell.
He shook his head, noticing his increasing arousal. Hey, he was a man after all, and Jess had left him with a severe case of blue balls that morning, which still had not been attended to.
"Well, aren't you the cutest, proposing to my best friend and making her all happy and shit?" Kylie said, somewhat sarcastically, before squeezing his cheeks tightly as she had made a habit throughout high school.
Oh, there she is. The annoying little Kylie I know from high school.
