Chapter 15 ~ Darcy

Chapter 15 ~ Darcy

His lips are soft and gentle on mine, moving slowing, tasting carefully, trying not to scare me off and I really appreciate that gesture of him. The kiss is sweet, is tender, is perfect and soon I start losing awareness of my surroundings and I can only feel the taste of his lips, the touch of his hand on my cheek, the tenderness of this kiss.

I give in the kiss as well, my arms loop around his neck bringing me closer to him and soon I feel his other arm around my waist, bringing me even closer. I barely hear how this leaves a mess with all the things we have around us, but I can’t care less. I can only thing of Liam, I can only feel his kiss.

He deepens the kiss, cocking his head to his right just to make this more comfortable as he hugs me tightly. My hands go up his head enjoying the texture of his short hairs against my palms giving me tingly sensations, the same that spread to the rest of my body making me feel all bubbly inside.

I know I need to breathe and he broke the kiss only long enough to catch our breath, soon his lips are on mine again and his hands on my back, pressing me closely against his firm body.

I’m not an expert at kissing. Truth be told, I’ve only been kissed a couple of times and it never felt like this. I never felt like I was losing myself in a kiss, I never felt like there were fireworks in my belly, I never felt like I could do this forever. Those kisses were nothing compared to the moment Liam’s lips pressed against mine.

Somehow, our kiss ends naturally and we look into each other’s eyes. I know I’m wearing a stupid grin but I can’t help it, and he’s just the same, but his smile is precious and breath taking. Or maybe it’s just that I need to catch my breathe after depriving my lungs from oxygen for a while.

I don’t say anything. Honestly, I can’t think of anything to say that won’t ruin the perfect moment.

“Better than I ever imagined,” he says so softly and I feel my cheeks burning, at which he chuckles. “I love when you blush. You look even cuter,” Liam adds and cue to his words my cheeks burn brighter.

“You have a talent to make me blush,” I reply and his grin is proud this time. “It’s not a compliment.”

“But I’m taking it as one.” I laugh and shake my head hopelessly. He chuckles again and this time he puts our foreheads together.

At the touch of his skin against mine I close my eyes and breathe in deeply, enjoying the moment. How can someone feel so right? How can something like being this close to him feel this natural? I’ve never been with a guy like this before, but I don’t even feel awkward whilst he’s hugging me tightly.

“Liam,” I call him in a whisper.

“Hmm,” is his answer.

“I really, really, like you,” I tell him and I feel him tensing before he laughs.

It’s not a humorous laugh like when someone tells you a really good joke, it’s the kind of laugh you have when you’re really happy, when someone tells you something that you’ve been wanting to hear for a long time. It’s the kind of laughter that just blurts out of your lips. And he laughs like that, like I’ve just told him the best news ever.

I know that when he told me how he feels about me I gave him a really crappy answer, but he caught me off guard and I really didn’t know how to react. I’ve known for a few days already that my feelings for him changed, that it wasn’t a simple crush anymore in my eyes. Now finally I can tell him how I feel about him and he takes it wonderfully.

He hugs me even tighter and his lips are on mine one more time. I don’t fight him back; on the contrary, I kiss him back immediately.

“I promise you I’ll treat you right. Lizzie won’t have to throw our stuff to the bin,” he tells me in between kiss and kiss and I giggle.

Liam is holding my hand by the time we are back at my home. The rest of our date was just perfect. We talked about so many things, we cuddled next to the fire, we listened to some music, we, of course, kissed and in the way back, we bought some wigs. In fact, he reminded me of buying them and we picked many of oh so different styles and colours. I think he even wants to joins us later.

It’s not really late and I’m sure Lizzie is awake, just waiting for us to know how the date went. Probably she’s going to be so happy to know that everything went perfectly and that now Liam and I are together. He didn’t ask me to be his girlfriend, but I think there’s no need. The way he looked me in the eyes after kissing me made everything clear, it settle an unspoken agreement between us. We are together.

I’m about to open the door when Liam hugs me from behind kissing my cheek ever so softly. I put my hands over his that are on my belly, keeping me close. “Something wrong?” I ask looking into his eyes. His chin is on my shoulder and our noses are really close.

“I just don’t want this day to end,” he confesses and I feel my heart melting at his sweetness.

That’s one thing I really like about him: he’s not afraid of speaking his mind. He’s not afraid that it may sound corny or that it may make him look weak. He tells me what he thinks and I really appreciate how open he is, that he doesn’t hide anything to the fear I might judge him. I think he knows I will always hear him out, no matter what.

“But we can repeat this, right?” I ask him a bit nervously. I’m still not sure how to do all this but his huge smile encourages me.

“Of course! And you can come with me sometime to the studio and see how’s to be in this world. Of course, Lizzie can come as well. I bet she’d love to see a gig from backstage.” I smile so grateful that he doesn’t forget about Lizzie, that he remembers she’s important to me and she’s my number one priority.

“That sounds perfect,” I answer and we look into each other’s eyes not needing to say anything else.

We’re leaning in closer when the door opens on its own and we both jump away, completely scared. On the other side Lizzie and Carter are standing and watching us. Lizzie is on Carter’s back and I’m not sure how they knew we were here.

My little sister is smiling brightly, but Carter eyeballs Liam with a serious, deathly glare, almost like challenging him to do something stupid.

“You’re back!” Lizzie sings happily from Carter’s back and I put myself together before answering. I also look at Liam whose eyes are on Carter, looking dead serious as well. I honestly can touch the testosterone in the air.

“Yes, and look what we brought,” I say holding up my hand with the bag with wigs.

“Wigs!” Lizzie screams and during that moment, nor Liam or Carter have said a thing.

“Uh, Carter… This is Liam. Liam, Carter, my best friend,” I introduce and wait for them to shake hands.

“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Liam says holding his hand to Carter.

“Same here,” is his answer, sharp and cold, whilst he shakes Liam’s hand. “I hope you know that Darcy is like my little sister. Hurt her and I’ll rip your head off.”

“Carter!” I cry out, my eyes wide open in shock while Lizzie is giggling like Carter has just said the funniest thing ever. “Oh God,” I groan. We haven’t even gone inside!

“Don’t worry, I’ll treat her right. I won’t hurt her,” Liam answers solemnly and I just want to dig a hole and hide myself for the rest of eternity. This is turning out more serious than it really is.

“Wait, wait… I know what to ask next but we need to go inside for the dramatic effect I need,” Lizzie intervenes and finally the two guys break the deathly eye contact.

I take Liam’s hand and walk pass Carter, leading the younger boy to the living room hoping Lizzie won’t say anything else to make this more awkward.

“I’m so sorry,” I whisper to Liam and he smiles at me.

“It’s okay, it’s because he cares about you,” he says but I can see his jaw tensing when he utters those words.

“Carter, put me down. Mum taught me how to do this,” Lizzie instructs my best friend and I look at her confused. What is she plotting? “So, Liam,” she starts when Carter finally puts her down. She walks towards us –we are on the sofa, looking at her very differently: Liam is amused and I’m confused. “Tell me, what are your intentions with Darcy?” Lizzie finally asks solemnly and for a couple of seconds no one says a thing until Carter bursts out laughing and soon I join him, even Liam is laughing. “I’m serious!”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Liam apologises still chuckling. “My intentions are honest and pure. I want the best for Darcy and I promised you already that I’ll treat her right. I really care about her,” he answers, a smile still playing across his lips.

This time he looks at me and his eyes are warm and so sweet. I see the honesty burning in his kind brown eyes. I know, I trust he will never do something to hurt me on purpose.

“Yay! Because you two look so cute together! And I really don’t want to stop being a Directioner. It’s so fun!” Lizzie exclaims jumping on us and throwing her arms around us, bringing us for a group hug.

“And you’ll never have to stop being one,” Liam promises and I’m not afraid of him hurting me. Incredibly, I trust him. Something in my heart tells me I can trust him because he’s good.

“And Darcy, tell me. Did he ask you to be his girlfriend already?” Lizzie asks me confidentially, but she is so loud that everyone else hears her.

“I haven’t,” Liam replies looking at Lizzie. She seems shocked and disappointed in him. “Because I need your permission first. So, do I have your consent?” He asks her and I can’t help smiling like an idiot.

He’s always so sweet and adorable to Lizzie, always keeping her present instead of ignoring she exists. Liam not only recognises she is part of my life, he knows she is my life.

Squealing excitedly, Lizzie answers, “of course! Ask her immediately,” she demands and even Carter, who’s on the love seat across from us, is laughing.

“As you wish, ma’am,” he replies holding his laughter. Then he turns to look at me and I know this is not necessary, that he’s doing this to amuse my sister because we already know this. We don’t need to say the words out loud, be he does it anyways. “Darcy, would you like to be my girlfriend?” He asks and I hear Lizzie squealing again.

“I’d love to,” I answer and Lizzie is the first one to jump and start dancing around the living room. Liam and I only smile at each other, our eyes never leaving the other. Soon I feel his hand taking mine and entwining our fingers together.

Who would’ve guessed that by the end of the day I was going to be Liam’s girlfriend?
