She sits holding her breath waiting for the winner to be announced. It felt as if someone had stopped the time and the entire world had come to a deadly stop. There was only one noise that could be heard and that was coming from the television. The most awaited moment for the one on one international finals of badminton 20-21 had come. The moment that would decide who would win the cup.

“And the winner is Rohani Miller” Arial bit her bottom lip with defeat whereas Silas, her boyfriend rejoiced with happiness. Silas started doing a crazy dance while Arial stared at him with shock.

After a few mins when Silas found his grounds and was able to control his excitement, he switched of the televisn and grinned at Arial before saying “Rohani won the cup and I won the bet. Now according to the bet whatever I say you will have to do it.” Arial gave a forceful smile and gestures Silas to continue. But what Arial didn’t know was Silas’s reply was going to make her happy rather than put her in tension.

“My sweet Arial” Silas said with a naughty smick on his face. Arial gave a small punch to Silas “Don’t make me more nervous.” “Ok. ok baby, Do you remember in collage days we used to believe that in the national library there was a ghost?”

Arial corrected him that very instant “You believed that not me, I never believed it.” That was quite true Arial being the perfect example of beauty with brains and being a doctor by profession never believed in non-scientific explanations. Silas tried to calm her down because he knew how impulsive she is. “Yes yes ma’am. Now listen your bet is you will have to spend a day in the library. Tomorrow is Saturday so after your shift ends at 5pm I will drop you there and come to pick you up at Sunday at 5pm. You will take all the things you require with you except your phone.” Arial being a adventurous as well as a courageous person quickly agreed with the bet and was looking forward on having some kind of adventure.

Next Day At 4:30pm

Arial was enjoying the cold air and listerning to her favorite song on her tablet while standing at the sun roof of her car while Silas was busy driving the car. As he gave a quick look at the side view mirror and saw the love of his life cheerfully enjoying the cool evening breeze and the music. “How pretty my angel is, I will never let her go away from me. She is mine forever and ever.” He mumbled to himself.

After some time they reached the national library and Silas accompanied Arial inside the library. As planned he helped her to hide her belongings, reminded her that he would come in 24 hours later until then she is not allowed to leave the library premises, gave her a kiss and left from there.

As Arial had decided she hid in the library until everyone left. Then she came out of her hiding place – restroom. There was a rumor that because of the ghost no guard would do night duty in the library. Therefore, Arial need not worry about someone might see her in the night.

Arial decided to make her bed first before having dinner or reading books because she herself knew once she enters the world of fantasy, horror, mystery and romance it would be difficult to come out of it. By the she made her bed, ate a light dinner which consisted of some dry fruits and some healthy snacks it was 9:30 in the night so she decided to start reading a book which she wanted to read since a long time but never got enough time to read. So she took out the book lord of rings by J.R.R Tokien and re-moved her night lamp and read in the silence of the night under the dim yellow night light of the lamp, afraid to switch on the lights of the library as some pass-byer may get suspicious.

Arial read for some time, to tell the truth she herself didn’t know for how much time she was reading. It was nothing weird about her, Arial from childhood she was addicted to books in such a way that n her degree years she was more into novels rather than her textbooks. She didn’t know when she fell asleep while reading the book.

Around 2 am in the night some kind of weird noise woke Arial up from her deep slumber. At first the noise was as soft as if it was a faint whisper. But gradually it stared being more audible. Arial got startled on hearing the noise as she thought some had seen her here or someone was coming her way. She quickly switched off her night lamp and tip-toed to the location from which the noise was coming. Her heart was beating so fast that she felt like she had ran 2 kilometers, She feared her heart may pop out of her chest anytime. Sweat beads covered her forehead and palms in just a few minutes. Arial walked for a few steps and as she was walking in the pitch black darkness she did not see there was something very picky on the floor. “OUCH!!!!” Arial let out a cry of pain but all of a sudden covered her mouth with her hands as she didn’t want anyone to know that she was in the library.

Arial was shocked as though she was in daze as though what pressed her leg. She decided it was enough playing with the darkness and she took out a small touch from her pocket. A sudden feeling engulf her as if the torch was the only hope for her on the deadly silence of the night. With the help of the bright light of the torch she came to know that the pain was due to a small glass piece which was pricking her feet. Arial being a doctor herself she removed the glass piece very delicately as if she was trying to convince a little girl to take a injection. As her leg got free from the glass piece she tried to keep her foot on the floor but as the floor was as cold as metal she just couldn’t keep her foot down. Suddenly as if a flash of lightning hit her that she always carried a small first aid kit with her. So she decided to treat her leg first.

As she was heading back to her bed she felt as if a sudden air of cold wind came from behind her. It was so cold and icy that it erected the hairs on her body. As a matter of fact she turned her to her back but there was no one, absolutely no one. She again started heading back to her bed trying to assure herself that maybe a window must have been left open from which the cold air must have blown in although she herself knew this was not the truth.

Once again something distracted Arial from the pain she was enduring. This time it was a sound rather than a cold wind. A weird sound as if someone was walking with heels. But the sound wasn’t the thing that scared Arial instead the fact that the footsteps was slowly approaching towards her direction. Was bringing a lump to her throat. Her courage and thrust for adventure had been replaced by fear by now. “If Silas would have been here right now with me he wouldn’t have let anything happen to me” Arial mumbled to herself.

All of a sudden the sound of footsteps stopped and Arial had a strong sensation as if someone was standing behind her. Suddenly the entire room got so cold that it felt as if Arial’s body got numb and she couldn’t feel anything. She felt as if her leg’s pain disappeared as if it never existed. She had a crazy desire to turn back and see who was standing behind her but either the cold temperature or the fear was stopping her from turning back. Next what happened was totally unexpected or unimaginable. The next minute the fear causing source was standing front of Arial.

Next Day At 5pm

As promised by Silas, he arrived at 5pm. Arial was waiting for him at the entrance gate. Arial sat down in the back seat of the car and sat down without a word. Silas found this quite astonishing because generally Arial is a talkative girl. Silas thought “Maybe she as quite as a mouse because she did not get a good night’s sleep. It’s ok she will get back to her usual self soon.” But somewhere deep in his heart she felt that something is not right about Arial. As he started the car and took a u-turn, what he saw through the rear view mirror made him lose the control of the car before losing hid consciousness. Can you imagine what he saw from the rear view mirror? He saw that Arial was waving someone a goodbye but her head was turned 180 degree around.
