I hang out with June a lot, and frankly, if I'm going to skip school, it's going to be with her. I smile at June, and look at James apologetically.

"Sorry, James, I'm going with June!" June grins and fist bumps me, while James pouts. He walks off with his hands in his pockets, and I look at June.

"What do you have planned?" I ask with a grin.

"Follow me!" She yells, putting her fist in the air like superman.

I laugh and put my arm around her shoulders as we walk.

She stops in front of a building, her eyes wide. Just as I am about to ask what's wrong, I see the weird creature standing in front of me. It's some sort of cat-dog-human hybrid. I put my arm in front of June protectively, pulling my sword from my backpack slowly. She shakes her head and points over to the left, where an alleyway is hidden. We could go through there to avoid the monster.

Now, I am faced with a decision. Do I fight the monster, or hide in the alleyway?
