It was officially the end of the school day and Danny had been avoiding Richard, if he saw the others in the hallway he found a way to avoid them too. He left the school before any of them and only managed to get across the street before they all caught up. Artemis grabbed his arm to stop him, "Okay, why do you keep avoiding us, what's going on?"

Danny snatched his arm back, "What's going on is that I'm sick of your bullshit, people aren't nice to me, ever, so what the fuck do you get out of this?"

They stared at him before Isabella spoke, "We aren't getting anything out of this Danny, why do we have to get something out of this?"

"Because that's how it always is, it didn't matter what city I went to or how many places I was forced to stay. They all got something out of it, I don't have friends, I never have, and I seriously doubt you actually want to be."

They wanted to say something but they had no idea what they could say that would make him believe them. Danny just turned around and jumped the fence, they lost sight of him pretty quickly and they were left to think. They knew Danny had been to at least one orphanage and probably several homes but they didn't know how many.

All they knew was that he ran away from all of them and he'd been abused in all of them, they couldn't blame him for not believing them. They didn't want him to feel like that, like he couldn't trust anyone or that they wanted to hurt him because it wasn't true. They all either started walking to their homes or waited for their rides at the school, they needed to think of a plan.

Danny went back to the foster home and when he walked into his room he felt like punching something. He hated this, he didn't want to admit that he cared about them but part of him did, Toxin wouldn't let him say otherwise. But he couldn't believe that they cared about him, he just couldn't, because if they did that would make it so much harder when he had to leave.

Danny sat on his bed and the more he thought about this the more frustrated he got, then he felt something on his face. He touched it and found that he was crying, he tried wiping the tears away but they just kept coming and it made him angry. He didn't like crying and the fact that he couldn't stop made him want to punch something even more.

He laid down on his bed and tried to wait them out but he kept thinking about this whole situation and they wouldn't stop. After several incredibly long minutes Toxin spoke, 'I did not mean to make you sad.'

"I'm not sad, I'm frustrated."

'Why?'

"Because I hate this, I know they don't actually care so I wish they'd just cut the bullshit so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore."

Toxin was quiet for a few seconds, 'I do not think they are acting, I think they really do want to be friends with you.'

"Then they're idiots, nothing good comes out of being friends with me and the sooner they realize that the better."

Danny could feel Toxin settle, 'You are wrong, you may have problems but they make you better then you will admit. You are kind, you are strong and no matter what happens you keep getting up, and you saved me when you had no reason to.'

Danny didn't say anything, he wanted to argue but he didn't know how, how do you argue with someone that's in your head? He wasn't kind but Toxin pointed out that he was when he was Phantom, and he had helped Toxin. But his problems didn't make him better, he didn't want to get hurt so he wouldn't let anyone get close to him.

But he didn't want his problems to come back and hurt any of them so he felt like he had to push them away. It took a while after that for him to stop crying completely and when he did he was both tired and dehydrated. He got up and went to the bathroom to splash water on his face, it made him feel a little better.

He dried off his face before going to the kitchen and getting some water before going back to his room. He could feel a weight in his chest that he knew was Toxin, he was trying to comfort him which actually worked. He wasn't sure why it did or why Toxin even wanted to comfort him but he did appreciate it, though he wouldn't say it out loud.

Over an hour later he was called to dinner, he had to keep Toxin fed so he went down and ate in silence. He was tired and had a lot on his mind so he didn't want to get involved in any conversations. He was the first to finish eating so he just got up and left without saying a word, Isabella, Lucas, and Mary watched him leave with worried looks on their faces.

Danny went to his room and decided to take a nap before leaving, he woke up when the sun could barely be seen outside. Danny rubbed his eyes, "So, still want to go out tonight?"

Toxin immediately became more alert, 'Yes.'

Danny couldn't help but smile a little, he could understand his excitement but that didn't mean he'd say it. Danny opened the window and snuck out before making his way to the more populated parts of the city. He transformed and tried to find any crimes that might be going on, when he heard a scream he jumped into action.

He spoke, "Same rules as last time, we'll tell each other when to switch."

'Got it.'

They soon found two men harassing a woman and Phantom hummed, "You want to take this one?"

Toxin growled, 'Gladly.'

Toxin took over and jumped down before pinning the two men to the wall, the woman ran and Toxin growled. He could smell alcohol and that just pissed him off, the two men looked scared now, "Do something like this again and we won't be so understanding next time."

He then knocked them out and left them there, right after they heard a store alarm and headed over immediately. Meanwhile, the team was in Gotham trying to find the guy they had been tasked with finding. Robin found out he'd been in Gotham, apparently he was taking down criminals but not all of them believed it.

Batman knew they were in Gotham and even had Batgirl go with them, she hadn't made up her mind on whether she should join them yet or not. They were watching for crimes to try and find the guy but hadn't found anything, that is, until Superboy heard a store alarm go off. They were a bit far away but they figured it was they best chance they had the moment and they had nothing to lose.

Phantom and Toxin got to the store within a few minutes and the five robbers were already leaving the store. Toxin found it annoying that they'd come across two store thefts in two nights but didn't say anything. The five pointed their guns at him and the leader spoke, "You'll get out of here if you know what's good for you.

The team just arrived and found their target standing on the wrong side of a gun, "What is this, a fifty's gangster movie?"

The guy glared at him, "I'm serious, get lost."

Phantom just rolled his eyes and he guy shot at him, the other five quickly followed his lead and Toxin took over. He growled and the bullets hit him but it just annoyed him even more, he grabbed one of the guys and took his gun. He knocked him out and ran at the other four, Phantom spoke, 'Switch.'

Phantom took over when they were right in front of a guy and he grabbed the guy's wrist before kicking him in the stomach. He let go of his gun and Phantom knocked him out, Toxin spoke, 'Switch.'

Toxin took over and a few more bullets hit them, he grabbed the guns out of their hands and one of the guy's stumbled forward because of it. Toxin ran at them and punched him in the face, 'Switch.'

Phantom took over and swept the feet of the nearest guy out from under him and threw him at his friend. They were both out and Phantom rolled his shoulder, "Well that was interesting."

Toxin spoke, 'We are not alone.'

Right as he said that he heard something hit the street to his left and when he looked he found three familiar faces and their super powered friends. Aqualad spoke, "Give up, you are outnumbered."

He smirked, "And your outmatched."

Several of the heroes glared at him, Kid Flash tried running at him and Phantom moved out of the way while Toxin tripped him. He hit the ground and Phantom looked at the other heroes, "That all you got?"

Aqualad attacked him and Toxin took over and caught him, Toxin lifted him into the air and growled, "This is almost insulting." He threw Aqualad back and he hit the road behind the other heroes, "I thought you would be stronger then this."

Superboy glared at him, "I'll give you stronger."

He ran at Toxin as Kid Flash got up and tried to attack him, Toxin pushed Kid Flash into the wall of the store. He dodged Superboy twice before Phantom took over and kicked him in the back, Miss Martian flew over and tried throwing a trashcan at him with her powers. Toxin took over Phantom's arm and caught it, he threw it on the ground and knocked her out of the air.

That was all it took to knock her out cold, he grabbed her and put her on the ground as Phantom focused on fighting Superboy. Phantom punched him in the stomach which knocked him back a bit but didn't take him down. Toxin pinned him against a wall and Aqualad came back and tried using water to trap him, he got him but Phantom just smirked.

Toxin broke his arm out and he knocked Aqualad back so he let go, Toxin took over and ran at him before punching him. He was out, Toxin knocked out Superboy too and Batgirl tried to punch him but Phantom took over and easily dodged her attack. He grabbed her arm and flipped her over his shoulder, she tried to get up but Toxin took over and simply knocked her away so she was dazed.

With all of the other heroes down that left Robin and Artemis, they almost found it funny. Artemis took out an arrow and fired it, Phantom caught it with ease and snapped it, "You're just annoying us now."

Robin looked confused, "Us, who's us?"

Phantom smirked and Toxin took over, "Us."

Artemis fired another arrow and Robin threw a disk but Toxin dodged them both, Artemis glared at him, "Stand still so I can hit you."

Toxin laughed coldly, "What's wrong, can't hit a moving target?"

Artemis tried to shoot him again and Toxin extended his arm to catch it and throw it behind him, he growled and knocked Artemis to the side. Robin tried to punch him but Toxin shielded them and hit him back, Robin landed on his feet and attacked again. Phantom took over and easily dodged his attacks, then he caught Robin's wrist and kicked him but it didn't actually hurt which confused Robin.

Robin attacked again and Phantom easily blocked it, he had a chance to hit him back but he didn't, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Toxin knew he couldn't so he took over and pushed Robin back, Robin looked at him, "What do you want?"

Toxin growled and pushed him against the wall of the building next to him, "What we want is to be left alone."

Artemis stared at them from where she was on the ground and Batgirl had finally pulled herself together. Toxin growled and ran to the other side of the street and easily made his way to the roof of a building. They looked back at the heroes for a few seconds before leaving, Robin and Artemis decided to see if the rest of the team was okay.

Meanwhile, Phantom took over and when they got closer to the foster home he transformed and snuck in through the window, things just got a lot more complicated.
