Phantom stayed out with Toxin for hours until it eventually got dark, he'd gotten food from somewhere cheap and stopped what few crimes he came across. It hadn't been dark for very long before he got a text from Richard, he asked him to come to the mountain. He thought about not going but Richard sent him a second text saying the team was gone aside from him, Artemis, and Barbara.

Apparently Batman was there but he swore he wasn't going to attack him, Phantom didn't entire believe him but decided to go anyway. As he started heading there Toxin spoke, 'Why do you think he wants to speak with us?'

"Not sure, he's either mad or it's something serious he thinks we need to know about."

'I do not have a good feeling about it.'

"And your feelings have rarely been wrong so far, if ever, so we'll be careful."

Toxin seemed content with that, they soon arrived at the place where they when in before and found Robin there. Robin smiled when he saw them, "I was kind of worried you wouldn't come."

"We thought about it, so what is this about?"

Robin shrugged, "I don't know but Batman said it was important, but I wanted to give you this first."

Robin handed him something and Phantom looked at it, it was a leather jacket, Phantom stared at it. Robin looked a little nervous, "It's to replace your jacket, since your sleeve is gone, it doesn't have a hood but this was the best choice I had."

Phantom was surprised, then he took off his jacket without a word and put the new one on, "If this one gets messed up don't blame me."

Robin smiled brightly, "I'll just get you another one, now we should go before Batman gets impatient."

"He can get impatient all he wants it doesn't change anything."

Robin sighed and went through the zeta tube, Phantom went in after him and Artemis spoke, "Took you long enough."

"Not my fault that I don't like getting called over out of the blue without being given a reason."

None of them could say anything about that, Batman finally spoke up, "I found something you'll want to look at."

"I hope you know how vague that is, and your history of being vague with us has not gone well for you."

Batman was quiet for a second, "Aqualad told me about what happened when they were with you yesterday. I asked commissioner Gordon to tell me about anything they found, the police questioned the child."

"I know, I checked on him and he was crying so I assume he wasn't too happy about losing a leg."

Batman was quiet again, "The doctors say he'll be okay, he was very upset, but he asked about you."

"The fuck?"

"He was barely conscious and remembers you carrying him into the hospital."

Phantom was getting annoyed, "This isn't what you wanted to talk about so get to the point, I'm still pissed so don't make it worse."

Batman sighed quietly, "He talked about being attacked by a monster, police looked into it further and managed to find these images on some nearby cameras, I wanted to see if you knew anything about them."

Batman pulled up the images and Phantom got closer to look at them, it took a second to figure out what it was. As soon as he did Toxin growled, he took over and punched the nearest wall, he was shaking from how angry he was. Everyone took a few steps back when they saw it, Toxin was breathing hard and after a few seconds he looked at Robin.

"Where are your friends?"

Robin took a second to process, "The team is in Gotham, they wanted to help investigate while you were here to try to make up for before."

Toxin growled, "Fuck."

Toxin started to leave and Barbara spoke, "Why does that matter?"

"Because they may be on his hit list now."

Toxin left and the three young heroes looked at each other before running after him, when they got there Toxin was already on a rooftop looking for the rest of the team. They quickly went to catch up with him and Toxin kept going from rooftop to rooftop trying to figure out where they might have gone.

Robin was the first to catch up, he was already out of breath from trying to hard to get to him, "Toxin, what do you mean they're targets?"

"I will explain later, where are they?"

Robin quickly checked where their tracker locations were and showed it to Toxin, Toxin quickly took off once he saw where they were. The three quickly went after him again and Toxin was getting too far away from them to even see him. Toxin ran as fast as he could to where the team was and Phantom spoke, 'Toxin, what's going on?'

"Those times when you asked me about myself, I told you about someone, I told you what he looked like."

Phantom thought for a minute, then he remembered and his blood went cold, 'Oh no.'

"Exactly, and if he saw them with us they are in danger."

Toxin ran faster then he ever had before, he had to get there before he found them and keep them safe. Meanwhile, the team was on a rooftop after they'd searched the area trying to find the murderer. Miss Martian sighed, "We haven't found anything."

Aqualad looked at the ground, "Perhaps we are looking in the wrong place."

Kid Flash groaned, "This is where Phantom saw him last time, he should be here somewhere."

Superboy felt like punching something, then he heard something strange, it sounded like it was getting closer. The he heard a slightly familiar growl and he pushed Miss Martian out of the way just before something big landed where she'd been. The watched as it stood up and it looked at all of them, then it's arm shot out and grabbed Kid Flash.

They all jumped in to stop it and it hit them all away like they were nothing, Kid Flash struggled to get away but his arms were pinned and he couldn't reach it with his feet. Then it's mouth opened and it had fangs, he was sure it was going to tear his head off, it wouldn't even be hard. Just before it looked like it was going to kill him a white blur came out of nowhere and hit it in the face.

It let go of the speedster and he looked up to see Toxin, he looked absolutely pissed and he was growling. Then he looked at all of them, "Get out of here."

Superboy spoke, "We're not leaving just because you told us to."

"This is not a game!" They all froze, "We will protect you so leave before this gets ugly."

They all backed away a little, they hesitated to leave, then the thing grabbed Toxin and slammed him into the ground. Toxin clawed at it and shouted, "Run!"

The heroes hesitated for a second before leaving, while they ran they found Robin, Artemis, and Batgirl. Robin looked panicked, "Where are Phantom and Toxin?"

Aqualad answered, "We were attacked, they told us to escape."

Robin was about to go after them when Batgirl grabbed his arm, "Don't go after them."

Robin glared at her, "They could get hurt, or killed."

"You know him, he told them to run which probably means this is serious and they don't want anyone else getting in the way."

Robin was silent, he knew they wouldn't do something like this without a good reason, but he cared about them. And he knew they were likely to risk their own lives to protect other people even if they didn't like them very much. They could have run in expecting to die, they could be hurt and he'd be too late to get there.

Robin gritted his teeth and ran to get to them, he knew they didn't want him there but he wasn't going to just run away. The others ran after him and they found Toxin, he was breathing hard and Robin spoke quietly, "Toxin?"

Toxin screeched and lunged at him, he stopped just before he got to him, he'd just barely realized it was him. Robin saw that he was hurt, he'd never seen him hurt before, and Toxin was holding his shoulder. "What happened?"

Toxin growled, "We need to go, he's gone for now but I am too weak to win against him right now."

Toxin ran off before anyone could respond, they quickly followed him and Toxin went back to the mountain. They went in after him and Batman looked surprised, "What happened?"

Toxin growled, then he moved his shoulder and there was a loud cracking noise, Toxin growled louder. Robin immediately went to their side, "Are you okay?"

"We will be fine, if I were not hungry and tired this would not be a problem."

Robin tried to touch him but Toxin moved away and growled, Kid Flash spoke, "He's just trying to help."

Toxin glared at him, "My only friend is hurt, we were almost torn in half, and I can't even heal him, I don't care what anyone is trying to do I will not let anyone cause him more pain."

They were silent, they hadn't noticed until now but he looked more guarded, he didn't want anyone touching him. Everyone was quiet for a minute until Miss Martian spoke quietly, "What was that thing?"

"Not what, who, his name is Prior."

Superboy looked mad, "You know that thing?"

Toxin growled, "He's supposed to be dead!" They all looked shocked, "He should be dead, we all thought he was dead, and after all of that he managed to survive."

His hand was shaking from closing it so tightly, Robin spoke softly, "What happened?"

Toxin was quiet for a second, "My species is far from harmless, we are weapons, literally made to fight. Prior was the leader of a team, these teams are meant to go to other planets, if it is fit for our kind we invade it, we kill everything."

Superboy looked pissed now, "So you came here to destroy our planet?!"

"I betrayed my own kind to protect humans!" No one knew what to say, Toxin looked tired and he rubbed his eyes, "That's not the point. Prior went on a mission with his team, he came back alone, he'd killed his entire team, including their hosts, and ate them."

They stared in shock and horror, Toxin looked angry again, "He did it for no reason, he just wanted to do it. When he learned that we knew he attacked others, he killed several, I was the one that stopped him, it was my job to kill him, to make him suffer for what he did. Others were sent to make sure he died, they said he was, he should be dead, but he's not."

It was quiet, then Batman broke the silence, "He's after you."

"He wasn't at first, he didn't know it was me, otherwise he would have attacked me already, he probably didn't know it was me." Toxin growled and clawed the wall, there were deep scratches in the rock walls and Toxin looked pissed. "I didn't kill him, he killed my friends and committed crimes against us and he's still alive because of me!"

Danny spoke quietly, 'Toxin, you weren't the only one that was supposed to make sure he died.'

"But none of them are here."

'It's still not just on you, and we're partners now, you fucked up so now we'll both fix it, together.'

Toxin was quiet, he was too tired to be angry anymore, and he was worried about his host, he was so tired. He started to leave and Aqualad spoke, "Where are you going?"

"I am leaving, my host is hurt and I have to figure out how to stop Prior, and I don't want to be here anymore."

Toxin left before anyone could stop him, all of them with questions they couldn't guess the answers to.
