The car ride was silent for a minute before Artemis broke the silence, "Okay, I'm just going to say it, you got shot."

Danny looked at her, "Seven times, your point?"

"How are you alive?"

"Toxin makes killing me a lot harder, and believe me it wasn't easy before."

Lucas spoke, "Toxin?"

"The very angry creature that took over my body to take his anger out on those guys from before, he does have a name."

Toxin growled, 'I am still angry, those men deserved worse then they got.'

"Yes I can feel your anger but they're going to get worse so chill."

They all looked confused and Richard spoke, "Can you hear him?"

"Constantly, he is in my head after all."

None of them said a word, for a minute, John pulled into the driveway of the foster home and they all got out. John and Mary were very glad that Emma and Liam were at a friend's house so they didn't have to worry about them at the moment. They all went into the living room and Danny glanced around to make sure the curtains were drawn, just in case.

Everyone but Danny, John, and Artemis sat down, they were all silent until Mary spoke, "So who, or what, is Toxin?"

"He's called a Symbiote, and before you ask he needs a host, I happened to be a good match for him so we stuck together."

John spoke, "Your hair and eyes changed color."

"Because I'm not completely human."

They all stared for a second, Barbara spoke, "So you're saying-."

"Yes, this is my human form and I use my other one when I might need to use my powers."

Artemis spoke, "How are you not human?"

"A lot can happen when you're missing for five years."

They all paused, then Lucas spoke, "Does that mean someone made it so you weren't completely human?"

"Yes they did, and I'm not talking about it anymore."

They all took a second to process that, Isabella broke the silence, "Who were those guys?"

"From the looks of it they were Jokers men, my guess is they were looking to cause trouble and didn't expect anyone like us to get in the way."

Artemis raised an eyebrow, "Us?"

"Toxin and I are partners, so yes, us."

'And we make a good team.'

"I will agree with you on that one buddy."

Barbara spoke, "Wait, buddy, you call him buddy?"

"He's earned it at this point, hell less then an hour ago he stopped me from bleeding out after getting shot several times. And as much as I hate to admit it he's one of the few reasons I've been less angry, believe me I could have been worse."

They were all quiet for a few seconds, Richard finally spoke, "Could we, maybe, talk to him?"

Toxin spoke, 'I will speak to them.'

"Your call."

Toxin took over and they all stared for a minute, Toxin growled, "Speak before I get impatient."

Artemis spoke, "So you're Toxin?"

"That was established well before this."

Isabella spoke, "What do you want with Danny?"

Toxin growled, "You assume I want anything."

Many of them looked at each other, Richard got up and stood in front of Toxin, "Thank you."

Toxin nodded slowly, he didn't need to be thanked for helping his host, his friend, but the thank you wasn't unwelcome. Mary spoke, "You saved Danny, didn't you?"

"No, he saved me."

None of them said anything, some of them were shocked, some were confused, many were a mix of both. Toxin spoke, "I am done speaking to them."

He gave Danny control and the teen rubbed his eyes, "Okay, it's late and I've got an annoyed Symbiote to deal with, everyone go to bed, now."

They all looked at each other, Danny gave Richard a look and the hero signaled for Artemis and Barbara to stay where they were. The others reluctantly left and the three heroes waited, Danny spoke, "We know who you are, and now that you know who we are we know you have questions."

Artemis spoke, she could barely stop herself from shouting, "Questions, you know who we are and you just think we have questions?"

"We know you've been hunting us without knowing everything that happened and got in the way of us catching a murderer."

She was quiet, Richard spoke, "Can you just explain, tell us your side of the story?"

Danny sighed but it almost sounded like a growl, "Fine, you want our side of the story we'll tell you." The three stared at him quietly, "I came to Gotham because I learned about a shipment going to that government building, you know the one. I've been looking into them for years, ever since I ran away after they kidnapped me for five years."

They stared in shock, "I wanted to make sure they weren't starting over with someone else, so I waited for the shipment. It was supposed to get there the same day I started school, but it got delayed and I had to wait another week. Every night I snuck out and staked out the building learning everything I could about the security."

"After I saw the shipment come in I snuck in to find out what they'd brought in, I expected a lot, what I didn't expect was Toxin. He broke out of his containment and I was the nearest person, we escaped together and I had a decision to make. I wasn't going to bring him back there but I'd planned on running after finding out what the shipment was."

"If I ran someone might get suspicious and go after us, my best bet was staying here, no one will suspect some foster kid with anger issues. To learn how to work together better we started going after petty criminals, no one that could get us a lot of attention. Then you and your team showed up, we just wanted to be left alone, we didn't want trouble."

"Then the murderer showed up, we were just stopping a store robber, knock him out and return the money, easy. But after putting the bag of money in front of the door something took the guy, we went up to the roof and saw someone, or something, run away. Then we saw the body and were going to go after him when Richard and two others showed up accusing us of killing the guy."

"We couldn't prove we were innocent or catch the real murderer if you took us in so we ran, we've been looking for them everywhere. Most days we found another body, and the one time we came close to catching him you and your team showed up and got in our way."

Richard spoke, "I knew it."

Barbara looked at him, "Fine you were right." She looked at Danny, "Why didn't you just tell us if you knew it was us?"

"I didn't trust you, you were after us and I wasn't putting Toxin in harms way."

Artemis spoke, "Great, so we've been chasing the wrong guy who's actually someone we know, now what?"

Richard spoke, "There's someone else out there killing people, that means we need to find them and prove Danny and Toxin didn't do it."

Danny looked confused, "Hold the fuck up, you can't be saying you're going to help us."

Barbara spoke, "That's exactly what we're saying, we need to catch this guy and you've been trying to do that from the beginning. We can handle the team and try to give you a chance to catch this murderer, then we can prove you're not the bad guy. It's the least we can do after wrongly accusing you, and it explains why you didn't trust us."

Danny sighed, "That wasn't the only reason I didn't trust you."

Artemis spoke, "What other reason is there?"

"I was tossed away by my parents, experimented on and tortured for five years, went to an orphanage where I was tortured for two more years, and went to other orphanages and foster homes where I was neglected and abused. Could you trust people after having so many people hurt you and having to fight to stay alive for what's felt like every day of your life?"

They looked at each other, they couldn't say they would have acted different, or that Danny didn't have a right to be suspicious of people after that. Danny sighed, "Look, it's late and I do have Toxin to deal with, we can talk about this some other time but he needs food and sleep."

With that Danny left the living room, they heard him go into the kitchen and grab something before going to his room. They sat in silence, it was enough to communicate that they had a lot to think about because of this.
