After another half hour the others finally left the dress shop, then they decided they wanted to look at accessories. Instead of getting them from the dress shop they went to another store, one with nice jewelry that wasn't too expensive. Isabella, Artemis, and Barbara were the ones that needed more accessories, according to them.

Danny really didn't see the point but while Lucas stayed with the girls to try and help them Richard took him to look at ties. They'd decided not to get the ties from the shop since it was expensive to begin with so they were going to get them here. Danny just picked one that went along with the color scheme of the suit, even though he didn't want to wear it at all.

And of course the girls insisted on getting shoes which they'd also decided to get somewhere else. After taking two hours to decide on accessories and another hour for shoes along with half an hour getting makeup it was starting to get late. It was about seven so the sun was going down and there weren't many people on the street now.

Thankfully the girls didn't get a whole lot of stuff despite taking so long to shop and they were more then happy to carry the bags themselves. Danny was glad about one thing, movies weren't very accurate about how girls shopped. Maybe they were for some of them but the three girls he had to deal with didn't need or want anyone to carry their things.

Toxin spoke, 'Finally, I am hungry, we need food.'

Danny had to resist the urge to smile, he could always count on Toxin to speak his mind, especially about food. They agreed to go to the foster house and the others would get home from there, Danny was just glad they were done shopping. It was getting dark and before long there was barely any sunlight left, Danny wasn't happy about it either.

Of course they all knew how dangerous Gotham could be at night but none of them were too worried. Isabella and Lucas were but they were being distracted by Artemis and Barbara who were joking with them and getting their minds off it. They thought they might actually get home fine, but they were proven wrong when they heard a voice, "Anyone screams and he dies."

They turned around quickly and found a guy holding a knife to Danny's throat, the guy looked serious, Danny looked irritated. Two more guys came out of the shadows and a second spoke, "Give us everything of value you've got and he goes free."

Isabella and Lucas looked nervous but none of them were too concerned after seeing the look on Danny's face. Artemis spoke, "You guys chose the worst hostage."

The men looked confused, until Danny harshly stepped on the foot of the guy holding him and then smashed the back of his head into the guy's face. The guy dropped the knife and Danny grabbed the guy and flipped him over his shoulder, the guy hit the ground hard and he groaned. Danny glared at the other two men, the third put up his hands, "Uh, truce?"

Danny clearly didn't want to call a truce, the second guy ran at Danny who easily dodged the swipe of a knife and he kicked the guy in the face. When that wasn't enough he grabbed the guy's wrist and twisted his arm behind his back and forced him to the ground. Danny knocked the guy out and the third still had his hands up, Danny glared at him, "You better not be as stupid as your friends."

The guy shrugged as Artemis and Barbara leaned the other two guys against a lamp post, the third sat down under the lamp post. They used duct tape Lucas had in his school bag to stop them from running, called the police, and left. It turned out Lucas had the duct tape because he used it to make stuff, something Danny hadn't known before.

They continued walking to the foster home and Richard looked at Danny, "Are you okay, I mean your shoulder-."

Danny cut him off, "I'm fine, and the next person that asks me won't like what happens."

Barbara spoke, "Let me guess, not too happy about being held hostage?"

Toxin growled, 'Those morons were lucky you could handle it, otherwise I would have bit their heads off.'

Danny didn't look happy, "Not when I'm already pissed off."

They looked at each other, they could tell Danny had been irritated this whole time and they were surprised that he'd put up with as much as he did. They didn't want to make him more mad and considering the fact that someone held a knife to his throat they'd leave him alone. They walked straight to the foster home and went a little quicker to hopefully get there before anything else happened.

When they finally got inside Mary came in from the kitchen and smiled, "Did you all have fun?"

Barbara spoke, "We did, except Danny, and then someone took him hostage."

Mary's eyes widened, "What?!"

Danny still looked irritated, "You should see the other guy, pretty sure I broke his nose."

John came in and he looked both worried and slightly proud, why he looked like that Danny didn't entirely know. "Are you hurt at all?"

Danny felt more irritated now, "You all seem to forget that I survived on the streets for years, I know how to keep myself alive."

They all glanced at each other, Danny just walked past them and up to his room, he'd had to wear his school uniform all day. He could deal with it until school was over but he'd reached his limit a while ago, when he got it off he threw it in the corner. Toxin spoke, 'You are very frustrated.'

"Oh trust me I know, I'd rather deal with criminals that want to kill me then a bunch of excitable teenagers."

'I agree, it gets annoying after a while, even if I do not always agree with you when it comes to them.'

"As long as you get why I get annoyed with it I don't care if we agree, now let's get some food and then we can start searching the city."

'Finally.'

Danny smiled just a little before going downstairs, the twins were running around and clearly had too much energy. Danny really wished he was annoyed by it but he wasn't, part of him was just glad they seemed to have gone back to normal. The others were starting to sit down for dinner and Danny did the same, they all ate in silence for a bit.

John and Mary looked at each other before Mary finally spoke, "So you're all going to the dance tomorrow night then?"

Isabella smiled a little nervously, "It looks like it, but some of us aren't happy about it."

She looked at Danny and Artemis when she said that, even if the blonde had fun shopping she wasn't too excited about prom. They spoke at the same time, "It's stupid."

Toxin laughed at that, Danny was less irritated because of that, and when Richard gave him a small happy smile he was even less irritated, he hated it. The others kept talking about prom and Danny was already done with the conversation so he finished his food quickly. He immediately went up to his room and not long after he locked the door Jim Gordon came to pick up Barbara.

Then someone came and picked up both Artemis and Richard, if Danny had to guess that was Alfred. Danny was guessing he was picking up both of them because there was no one to pick up Artemis, he knew she walked home so it made sense. Toxin spoke, 'Something is bothering you.'

Danny sighed, of course he couldn't hide it from Toxin, "I used to at least get irritated by most of this stuff, now I'm not and I hate it."

'I know, I can feel your frustration because of it, and I am in your head, but isn't it a good thing that you are not as angry?'

"No, because if something happens it'll be harder to leave, we don't need that complication on top of everything else." Toxin was silent, Danny sighed, "Let's head out and search, hopefully we can catch whoever is doing this tonight."

Danny snuck out the window and made his way toward the city, he transformed and they started looking around. They searched for two hours and didn't even find a body, they wished they could think the killer took a night off, but they weren't that naive. After another hour they were just about to give up, all they found were petty criminals.

Then they saw a large shadow and started trying to follow it, Toxin spoke, 'What is that?'

"Not sure, it looks human, but a lot of things can look like that, we can find out when we get closer."

'Then we should hurry, it is fast.'

Phantom nodded and they landed on another rooftop, they were about to keep running when two figures dropped in front of them. It was Superboy and Miss Martian, two of the heroes on that team which could only mean one thing. Kid Flash and Artemis showed up behind him, then Aqualad to his left, and Robin and Batgirl to his right.

Toxin growled and Phantom glared at them, "You're making a mistake."

Superboy glared at him, "I don't think we are."

Aqualad spoke, "Come quietly and we can resolve this peacefully."

Phantom growled to himself, "We don't have time for this."

Toxin spoke, 'Agreed, we need to go.'

Phantom ran at Miss Martian and Superboy, they hadn't expected it and they jumped over the two. Toxin took over an ran, they didn't want to reveal all of their cards unless they had to which meant only using Phantom's powers if they had to. They jumped to the next rooftop with the team of heroes trying to catch up, Kid Flash got in front of them and Toxin growled.

Toxin stopped and glanced behind them, then ran to their left, they jumped and Toxin grabbed onto the edge of a building across the street. Toxin pulled his arm back in and they landed on the roof, they kept running away from the heroes while trying to find the shadowy figure. Toxin growled, "It is gone."

'Then we should do the same, we can't catch them if we're locked up.'

Toxin suddenly stopped on a roof and he wasn't happy, "There's another one."

Toxin let Phantom take over and he looked at the body, the eyes and fingers were missing, and there was a hole in the chest but he couldn't tell if anything was missing or not. It was a woman, this wasn't the first woman that had been a victim but they were hoping they could make her the last.

Then the team of heroes caught up, they stared at the body for a second before Batgirl spoke, "How did you kill her so fast?"

Phantom glared at her, "We didn't." Phantom jumped off the roof and by the time the heroes got there they were gone, they'd lost him again.

Phantom got back to the foster house and changed back, "Fuck, we might have actually been close that time."

'And those heroes ruined it, they are becoming more of a problem.'

"It wasn't that bad when they were just looking for us but the second that killer showed up they started getting in our way."

'We need to do something about this, it is one thing if we lose them but we might have stopped them this time if they hadn't gotten in the way and people are dying.'

"Wow Toxin, didn't know you cared so much about people's lives."

'I didn't, but because you care so much I have started to care too.'

"So I affected you that much?"

'A host can affect a Symbiote in a lot of ways, you are a strong host so I am stronger as well, your mental state can affect mine, and even your temperament can affect me.'

"It sounds like a host is kind of important to a Symbiote."

'They are very important.'

Danny was silent for a few seconds, "We should get some sleep, tomorrow is going to be one hell of a day." Danny laid down and Toxin was silent, Danny eventually spoke, "For what it's worth I'm kind of glad I ended up being your host."

'So am I, and I am glad you are my friend.'

Danny smiled a little, then he closed his eyes and eventually fell asleep.
