Kongpob's POV

Whew.... breathe Kongpob breathe. I had sat inside my car for over thirty minutes already, and now I'm standing in front of Grammy's door. I have never visited her home since she moved to Bangkok. I've only seen her at gatherings at Arthit's house on some weekends, and holidays.

On those occasions, Arthit and I try to behave the best we can. We usually sit far apart, and make bare minimum eye contact. It's beyond dreadful and awkward, yet Aunt Belle and my mom insist that we both be there. They think that we should act normal, and just let Grammy get used to it.

Honestly, our moms are the worst. Aunt Belle and my mom made Arthit sit on my lap for a group picture during last Christmas. It was so uncomfortable, especially when Arthit decided to be naughty and grinded his ass against my dick. The picture came out very odd. Grammy was looking at us instead of the camera, Krystal was smirking, Arthit had a wicked grin, and I looked like I was constipated. The worst part of it is that the picture is now stuck on the refrigerator at Arthit's house. I've tried to take it off, but somehow it miraculously reappeared the following weekend. Sigh.

Today is Tuesday, it's mid-afternoon right now. I took off early just to come here. Arthit doesn't know that I'm not in the office. I've told Max to tell him I'm in a meeting in case he called. Hopefully, he doesn't. I hate lying to him, and I always end up busting myself. That's why I refuse to play strip poker with him. There's just no point.

I have picked up a yellow orchid plant from the floral shop, and a heart shaped fruit basket. Today, I am going to try to get Grammy's blessing. Arthit and I had came out to her over four years now, and although she has not been outright against us being together, she has also not accepted us. Part of me knows she just loves us individually, and not us together. Although she is Arthit's grandma, and not mine, she has always cared about me too. So, it would not only mean a lot to Arthit for her blessing, but also to me.

My Arthit deserves the best, and I want everything to be perfect. Okay, I really need to ring the doorbell right about now. Okay, maybe in ten more seconds. 1, 2, 3.........8, 9, 10. Okay, here goes nothing.

Ding Dong.  Ding Dong.

Is anybody home? Maybe, I will have to come again.

Oh, I think I hear someone coming.

"Kongpob sweetie. What are you doing here? Come in."

"Hello Grammy. I came to visit you. Here, I got you these."

"Oh sweetie, these are lovely. You didn't have to. You've never visited me here. Come in. Let me fix you some tea."

Grammy led me to the living room. The house is small, and cozy. It's only around the corner from our family home. The walls inside were covered with colorful Thai art and pictures of Grammy's family. I looked at the pictures. There's a few of Uncle Tae when he was a kid. I have never noticed how much Arthit looked like Uncle Tae until now. Arthit really looks like Uncle Tae when he was young. They have the same smile and cheeks. Now, not as much though. Then there's a collage of pictures of Arthit and Krystal. Then there's a picture of me and Grammy. When did we take this? I reached out to brush the corner of the picture with my finger tips. I must have been eight or nine years old. I recognized my football uniform.

"Oh, do you remember that one?" Grammy said coming up behind me, causing me to jump a little.

"Hehe...no, not really. I can tell I was about eight or nine years old from my uniform jersey."

"Yeah, I went to pickup you and Arthit after football practice that summer. Tae had bought a new camera that day, and I asked him to take a picture of us. Arthit was sulking for losing the practice match, so he refused to take pictures with us." Grammy recounted the event.

"I remember now. Aunt Belle and my mom teased him, and called him a sore loser. Hahaha." I couldn't help, but laugh as I remembered how Arthit stormed off to his room calling our moms meanies.

"Come sit down, Kongpob." Grammy gestured me waving her hand.

I was going to sit in the armchair adjacent to her, but she patted the spot next to her on the sofa. So, I nervously sat down next to her. She poured tea into two tea cups, and the aroma automatically let me know it's my favorite simple jasmine tea. There's also a small plate of crystallized ginger candy, and a plate of coconut cookies on the tray.

"Try some cookies Kongpob. Krystal just made these yesterday. They are very good, and not too sweet. I'm not saying this just because Krystal's my grandbaby. They really are good." Grammy said this as she handed me a cookie.

"Thanks Grammy." I took a bite of the cookie, and it's true. Krystal really does have a knack for baking.

"So sweetie. What brings you to see this old bag of bones? You usually just see me at Tae's. Which I'm not too happy about. Since I live here now, there's no reason you don't come see me more often."

"I'm sorry Grammy. I.... I just don't know...if you want to see me."

"Sweetie, of course I want to see you." Grammy looked at me dearly.

"But I thought you don't want Arthit and me together." I looked down away from her gaze.

"I'm not going to lie and say that I wasn't disappointed. However, I never said I would stop loving you two. At first, I didn't know if it was just a phase or something. You know, I'm old. I don't understand so much, and there are all these trends and movements going on with young people. But I do know love when I see it. Over the years, I have seen you two grow and become fine young men that love each other so much. I know you two will stick together no matter what, because your love is real." Grammy said with teary eyes.

"Grammy, thank you for understanding us. I actually came here to ask you something today." I grabbed Grammy's hand in mine.

"Of course sweetie. What's the matter? You were pacing outside my door for so long? Just tell me. I will try to help you no matter what." Grammy said squeezing my hand.

"I want to propose to Arthit, but before I do, I would like to ask for your blessing."

Grammy looked at me with her eyes widened. "Do man and man get married these days?"

Grammy's expression is so cute. She reminds me of my Arthit's surprised face. I guess this is where he got that look from.

I smiled, and nodded. "We can have a ceremony as big or as small as we like. I will take Arthit to Las Vegas to marry him legally. Even if it's not legal here, I want him to know, and feel that our love is recognized elsewhere. A place where love is just love. We can also have our honeymoon in the USA, and travel to different cities, and states across the country. I want to make up for the three years I was gone in his life. I want to take him to see all the things that I have seen."

"Kongpob, you had me at 'hello.' Just wait here. I have something for you."

Grammy got up excitedly. I'm so relieved to know that Grammy has finally accepted us. This weight that I've been carrying around is finally off my chest. I took a sip of my tea, and ate another cookie. I can't wait to see Arthit's face when he finds out we've got Grammy's blessing.

After a little while, Grammy came out with a little box in her hand. She came and sat on the other side of me, so I scooted over a little bit. Grammy had on such a big smile, that it's making me nervous.

Grammy looked at me with a great big smile before she looked back down to the box in her hand.

"Kongpob, I have something for you. This was given to me by Tae's grandma, and all the grandmas before her. I was going to give this to Belle, but since I'm still around we can skip one generation, and just let it go to you. Belle would have just done the same."

Okay, I'm a little nervous and confused now. Something that went from Arthit's great grandma then to grandma, and then was supposed to go to his mom, and now to me? Say what?

Grammy opened the box, and inside was an emerald green pouch with gold embroidery that had a gold string that tied around the pouch's opening. Grammy untied the pouch with shaky hands.

After struggling for a little while, Grammy pulled out a pair of gold bangles with little gem stones adorned on them.

"Kongpob, we pass these on to the Rojnapat daughter-in-law in each generation to show our appreciation for her devotion to our family. It has also been said that if you wear these on your wedding night, your husband will always remain faithful." Grammy is saying all this with the utmost seriousness.

"Grammy, why are you telling me this?" Is this really happening?

"You are going to marry our Arthit. He is a Rojnapat son. So, these will go to you. Didn't you just ask for my blessing?" Grammy looked at me like I'm speaking a foreign language.

"Yes, I want to marry Arthit, but I'm not a woman. So, maybe you should keep these for Krystal." I tried to reason with Grammy.

"Kongpob, do you want your husband to be faithful or not?"

"Yes. Absolutely." Okay, I'm scared.

"Okay, then it's settled. You wear these for the wedding, and you give me great grandbabies."

"What? You know that's not possible Grammy."

"I don't care. You two figure it out. I've done my part. Now, it's your turn." Grammy shoved the bangles in my hands, and crossed her arms.

"All right Grammy. I will take them."

So, I see where Arthit gets his argument techniques.

AN: Lol, who's the wife now. 😜

Do you think Kongpob should wear the bangles for their wedding?
