Aegyo
- This means cuteness or being cute. Idols often get asked to showcase their 'aegyo' on variety and talk shows.
All Kill
- This is when a song takes the number one spot on all eight Korean music charts.
Age Line
- This refers to idols born in the same year. For those who might be new to K-Pop, you may not know that there is a group chat for male idols born in 1997. And that includes GOT7's Yugyeom, Bambam, BTS's Jungkook, SEVENTEEN's Mingyu, DK, The8, NCT's Jaehyun and ASTRO's Cha Eunwoo. They are the '97 liners.
Bias
- Your bias is your favourite member of a group.
Daesang
- A daesang is the highest award an idol can receive. They're usually in categories such as Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Artist Of The Year.
Fandom
- Everyone who loves Korean Pop Culture, all in one big loving group. For example: BTS - ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C for Youth), BlackPink - BLINK (BLackPINK), Red Velvet - REVELUV (Reve means Dream, Luv means Love) and EXO - EXO-L (EXO-Love)
Fansite
- Fansite are huge on KPop, largely due to the high quality and quantity of photos usually of a single idol or single group.
Fan Chant
- Words shouted by fans during performances. They usually include naming all the members of a group during the intro to their song.
Fan Service
- Something idols and actors do just to please fans, even if it's not relevant.
Gayo
- At the end of each year, all idols are doing performances in special stages for all their fans. Thanks to the three festival shows: KBS Gayo, MBS Gayo and SBS Gayo.
Leader
- Almost every idol group has a designated leader. This person is usually responsible for organising the group and acting as a middleman between their agency and the group.
Lightstick
- It defines the idol's groups' identity among their fans, and help to create awesome fan oceans during concerts. Lightstick have become such a popular item for fans.
Maknae
- He/She is the youngest member who is impressively multitalented despite their young age. For example: Jungkook of BTS, Lisa of BlackPink and Nancy of Momoland.
Music Show
- These programs are where idols perform their music for the public. It's usually when fans get their first look at the choreography for a song.
Rookie
- An actor or idol group who have just debuted in the entertainment industry. For example: ITZY and TXT.
Sasaeng
- An overly obsessive fan that are known for their intense and questionable behavior.
Selca
- A selca is a self-portrait taken by your idols with the front camera of their phones.
Sub Unit
- This is a smaller KPop group within a big idol group. It gives specific members a chance to showcase certain talents or to try different genres of music.
The Big 3
- These are the so-called major three entertainment companies in Korea, though it's very much open to interpretation. JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment are considered the top three agencies.
Trainee
- Before idols become idols, they're trainees. Entertainment companies scout for talent and then train their recruits to be picture-perfect pop stars.
V Live
- If you want to keep up with idols, V Live is a necessity. It's a livestream platform where most KPop idols have an official account.
