The word of God makes us pure
As Christians, we should depend more on the word of God than anything else. There are many things we can depend on. We can depend on motivational speakers and comedians as a coping mechanism to avoid dealing with the real issue. Only the word of God can attack the real problem. When Jesus spoke, demons wailed and wanted to leave the bodies they possessed.
Only the word of God is good enough for spiritual nourishment. Nothing should substitute the word of God in our lives. There should be no replacement for the word of God. Even christian books should never replace the word of God. When I write, I try as much as possible to lead people to the word of God. It's only because of the word of God in me that I can even write a christian book, otherwise, it wouldn't be christian writing.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. - John 15:3 (KJV)
The Bible says," we are clean through the word of God." What does this mean? It means, the word of God has power to make us clean and it has the power to make us pure. The word of God is only limited to the one that doesn't read and limited to the one who reads but doesn't believe. That is the only time the word becomes insufficient. The word of God is only as powerful as we are able to receive it.
When you believe in the word of God, only then can you begin to see how great and how powerful the word of God is. Paul said, we would need to renew our minds if we are ever to be transformed. Why do we need a transformation? The Greek word for transformation is metamorphoo. It means to be transfigured. To be completely changed. When you think of transfiguration in terms of the physical body, you would see it in a person that lost a couple of pounds. Some people go through so tremendous a transfiguration that you wouldn't recognize them.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2 (KJV)
The word of God transforms us into people that can fellowship with God. God sent us the word in flesh to save us from ourselves.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. - Ephesians 5:25-27(KJV)
In the scriptures above, we see the reason Christ gave Himself for us. Ge gave Himself so that we might be sanctified or purified and cleansed by washing of water by the word. Again, we see through scripture that God uses His word to cleanse us.
The last verse says, "that it should be holy and without blemish." That's God's goal. He wants people that are holy. No matter what we do and what we do not do, the word of God remains the same. God's goal for the brethren remains unchanged. Whether we choose to believe it or not, it doesn't change one bit. Everything bad can change through regular fellowship with God through the scriptures.
Today, we might have the worst attributes that you could think of. One word can change us. One word from God through His word.
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. - John 6:63 (KJV)
In the scripture above, there's a new revelation about this word that makes us clean. The new revelation is that the very word has life. When God speaks to us through His word, He seeks to transform us. Now the word that He speaks, has life. The word that He speaks has a spirit. If you never knew, spirits, whether godly or ungodly have the same goal; to live in a person. Imagine how godly we would become if we allowed the word of God to dwell in us.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. - John 17:17 (KJV)
God is sanctifies every person that believes in the word of God. Confess the word and continue to confess it until you start to become like the word. The word of God is holy. When we become like the word, we would have become holy people. People without blemish. God sees us as He sees His son Jesus Christ. Righteousness is found in following Jesus. Jesus is the word eternal, who gives life to those who belong to Him.
Father, sanctify us through your truth. Your word is truth. This we ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
