Welcome to week 4 of our experiments. This week is more of a learning or introductory lesson instead of one we put into practice, though you are welcome to! I've already listened to the Gateway Experience wave 1 tape and it's very very cool. First things first though, what exactly is Gateway?

In 1983, the CIA was studying and experimenting with a technique called the Gateway Experience. It was an audio training system that would give the subject an altered consciousness and let them escape the restrictions of time and space. It is achieved by giving test subjects headphones with specific music/beats being piped in. The frequency of the music triggers the brain on both sides, the left and right, in specific patterns that 'unlock' one's soul or inner consciousness.

In using this process, ordinary people have reported projecting out of their bodies, I kid you not. Hundreds of thousands of people have done this. If you are asking why would someone want to do this then you're not alone! I thought it was out there at first. But I think it's pretty interesting, and ties into my beliefs of us having spirits and life after death/what else is out there that we cannot see. I plan to listen with headphones this next time, to get the full experience.

There is a warning though. The CIA warned that if anyone tries to speed this process up, and doesn't follow the protocol for the technique then one can actually potentially become severed or detached permanently from our reality and lost. Which, sounds terrifying. So if you try it, be aware it is serious stuff.

I tried listening to the gateway tape above with headphones. My verdict? It was freaky! I felt myself detaching from my body, so I stopped. I don't think I'm quite ready for this experience, not yet at least!
