8~ Work ~8

Tw: wanting to skip a meal (but not actually going through with that and it's just for a second)

Patton headed downstairs. He cooked himself and Virgil breakfast but when he went to give it to the other man Patton saw him in a peaceful sleep that Patton didn't want to wake him from. Patton saw that if he waited any longer he would be late for work. He took out a notepad out of a junk drawer and wrote on it a note for his emo friend.

Hey Virgie! I had to go to work so I won't be back until 3-ish! I made you breakfast, it's on the table. Make yourself comfy and call me if you have any problems! Love ya!

Patton placed the note on the table near Virgil then reluctantly left. He didn't want to leave Virgil all alone just yet but he had to go to work.

Virgil woke up and squinted at his phone screen for the time. He yawned and saw it read that it was eight-thirty. Virgil sat up and saw the note. He picked it up and read it. Virgil went to the kitchen and looked at the breakfast. He was tempted to just not eat it but he shook his head. He was going to try and recover which meant he couldn't skip this meal. Virgil sat down at the table and breathed in deeply to prepare himself. Virgil smiled as he saw what it was. It was his favorite meal from when he was in high school. Hashbrowns along with two slices of toast. It was simple but it warmed Virgil's heart that Patton remembered. Virgil lazily grabbed the fork and stared at the food. "For Patton," Virgil told himself and took a bite of the potatoes. Virgil smiled once more, Patton had made it taste better than how he remembered it. Virgil forced himself to eat all of the hashbrowns and felt that he was full. Not wanting to feel sick he stood up and stopped eating. Virgil looked around the room, not really knowing what to do with the toast. Virgil shrugged and just decided to eat it later for lunch. The emo went back to the living room and hummed as he thought about what to do for the day. Virgil decided to do his own job so he set up his drawing tablet. He pulled out his phone and opened up twitter and typed out a tweet along with an image of his commision sheet.

Hey look I'm alive. I have nothing to do so commissions are open. Let's go with 7 slots for now.

Virgil sent out the tweet and as he waited for someone to do a commission he did a warm up drawing. For the warm up he did his favorite thing to draw, Patton smiling. The bubbly man had always been so sweet and seeing Patton smile always made him smile. It put him in the mood to continue drawing and it made him happy. Virgil was only going to do a bust but then he extended the drawing and made it so Patton had a puppy. Virgil smiled at the finished drawing and checked to see if he had any commissions yet.

For the rest of the day Virgil did commissions and little doodles until Patton came home. "Hey Virgil!" Patton grinned as he entered the house.

Virgil looked up and did his signature salute with the hand that held his stylus, "Sup."

"Whatcha drawing?" Patton asked.

Virgil shrugged his shoulders, "Just a tree."

"Cool, can I see?" Virgil glanced down at the tablet and nodded. Patton gasped, "That looks so cool!"

"It's just a sketch," Virgil told him.

"I know but it still looks so cool!" Patton marveled, "You're such a great artist."

Virgil smiled, still not used to being complimented, "Thanks." Patton smiled at him then saw the two pieces of toast from breakfast in front of Virgil.

"You didn't finish your breakfast," Patton pointed out with concern.

Virgil looked at the food, "Oh yeah I got full and I was going to finish it for lunch- wait, oh shit it's already three."

"When was the last time you took a break?" Patton asked, knowing that if Virgil didn't notice that it was three that he hadn't taken a break in a while.

"Right now," Virgil answered.

Patton shook his head, "You need to take breaks."

Virgil groaned, "I know, I just forgot."

Patton smiled at him, "You could set reminders so you don't forget."

"I guess," Virgil said and pulled out his phone to set reminders for tomorrow.

Patton grinned and kissed the top of his head, "Now come on and eat, you need energy to draw and food is energy." Virgil did as he was told and ate the toast from that morning. Patton kissed the top of his head and took the plate away when Virgil finished, "I'm proud of you." Virgil smiled, he liked being told that people were proud of him, even if it was for a seemingly simple task. It made Virgil want to be better so that Patton would be even more proud and happy. With this in mind Virgil got himself to eat dinner that night and dealing with the self hating voices was worth it when he saw Patton's proud grin.
