21~ Walking at Night ~21

Tw: The start of a panic attack and violence

After feeding the puppies Patton had fallen asleep. Virgil couldn't get himself to sleep though so he sat in bed a drank his water while Patton cuddled his waist. He was feeling too anxious to sleep right now, something that usually happened when he didn't eat a lot. Virgil gently pushed Patton off of him and replaced himself with the blanket. He stood up and waited for the black spots in his vision to go away then continued. Virgil headed downstairs and slipped on his shoes at the door. Virgil checked his phone, it was at fifteen percent. He plugged the device in and left it on the counter. Virgil put his jacket over his long sleeved pajamas and exited the front door. It was midnight when he left but he just needed to take a walk to calm himself down.

He headed down the streets that were lit by lampposts. He didn't know this town very well but he was looking at the road markers so he wouldn't get lost.

It was peaceful for a while but then he heard something snap behind him. Virgil whirled around only to see nothing. He began to have a bad feeling creep into every inch of his body. He began to walk faster but listened for anything. He heard footsteps, slower than his. Virgil turned around again and this time saw someone. He couldn't see what they wore as they were mostly hidden by shadows. Virgil broke off into a sprint. He didn't care if he looked dumb for sprinting away. If he saw someone at one am and he was alone he was going to sprint. He quickly got tired and he turned his head to see if the person was still there. They were, and they were getting close. It gave Virgil a boost of adrenaline to run more. Tears began to stream down Virgil's face, he was terrified.

Virgil ran the fastest he'd ever ran.

And then he tripped.

Virgil fell onto the hard concrete. He quickly turned over to see the person right above him, and they held something shiny. A knife. With tears clouding up his vision Virgil couldn't see their face. He kicked the person in their stomach and they stumbled back. They growled and lunged at him. Virgil tried to scream but the only thing they came out was a quiet, strangled cry. Virgil kicked and punched the person.

He kicked them in their crotch which caused them to pause their attack. That second was enough for Virgil to get out from under them and sprint away.

Virgil got far away and stopped to breathe. Tears were covering his vision and he felt like he was about to have a panic attack. Virgil tried to remain standing but his knees gave out beneath him. Virgil looked around the best he could and saw no one. He wiped the tears from his eyes and looked to the nearest sign.

He had no clue where he was. The sign wasn't a road he recognized. He thought he had took off in the direction of Patton's home but it seemed that he hadn't. The only way to get back to Patton's house was to go the way he came but now he didn't know what direction that was and even if he did the person that attacked him would still be there. Virgil looked around, his anxiety was spiking. Virgil stood up but fell to the ground again. He was too weak. He began to shake and more tears poured out of his eyes.
