4~ Scene Of The Crime ~4

Tw: Lots of mentions of murder and death, lots of swearing

Patton supported Virgil as he "walked" to the car. They got in and drove to the elementary school. There was police tape but it looked like there was no actually cops. They couldn't continue on in the car so they had to get out and walk. Virgil was barely able to walk. "Maybe you should just stay in the car," Patton suggested, "I'll be fine by myself. I don't want you hurting."

Virgil shook his head, "I'm okay. I can deal with my legs when we finish the task."

"But you're hurt, you shouldn't continue to walk."

"I did this to myself, I can do this for now. It's less than four days."

"But-"

"No, I'm doing this," Virgil cut off.

Patton sighed, "You can be really resistant when you want to."

As they walked closer and closer to the creek Patton began to feel something he couldn't describe. He decided to ignore it but it got stronger and stronger. They were nearly there and Virgil saw how Patton's face was contorted by pain. "Are you okay?" Virgil questioned.

"I-yes," They took another step closer, "Ah! No!" Without thinking Patton took his hand away from Virgil's waist and clawed at the pain in his chest. Virgil saw as his boyfriend cried out in pain and collapsed to the ground.

"Patton? What's happening?" Virgil asked as he sat down in front Patton.

"I-" Patton choked on a sob, "I don't know! It hurts so much!" Tears were pouring down his face. His hands moved to his neck and pushed down his white button-up's collar, revealing the closed wound from the last time he was there. Patton's nails scraped down the wound on his neck.

Virgil pulled his hands away, "Patton stop, you'll open it up again."

"It hurts!" Patton sobbed, "Please make it stop!"

Virgil felt helpless and Patton was trying to bite back screams. "Let's go back to the car," Virgil said.

Patton nodded and Virgil tried to help him up, they supported each other and shuffled away. "The pain stopped," Patton told Virgil when they were far away from the creek.

Virgil furrowed his eyebrows, "But why would it stop? You were in extreme pain so why did it just stop?"

Patton shrugged, "As we were walking it started to go down."

Virgil hummed, "Walk back towards the creek. I wanna see something." Patton did as he was told and Virgil used a tree for support. "Is it starting to hurt again?"

"Yeah."

"Where is it hurting?" Patton pointed to his neck, heart and multiple places on his chest. "I have an idea," Virgil said, "I need you to take off your shirt."

"O-okay," Patton said in a questioning tone. He unbuttoned his shirt.

"Can you come closer?" Virgil requested and Patton complied. Virgil ran his fingers over the wounds on Patton's chest, they were in the same places that Patton had said it hurt. "It only hurt when you got closer to the creek, that's where you were murdered and it hurt where you were stabbed," Virgil thought aloud. "This is weird."

"Would you hurt if you went close to where you died?" Patton questioned.

Virgil shrugged, "I don't know, maybe." Virgil thought about something for a few seconds. "I'm going to go down and check it out down there."

"You can't walk on your own," Patton protested.

"You can't get close without being in pain," Virgil countered. "I'm going down there and you can't stop me." He walked around Patton and held back his tears and signs that he was hurting.

Patton followed him, "I won't let you go alone." Patton felt the pain grow but he was going to push through it.

Virgil stopped, "Love you have to stay back, it's going to hurt you."

"It's going to hurt you too."

Virgil groaned, "We're too stubborn when it comes to each other's pain." They continued walking together. They got back to the creek and Patton was crying again, this time silently, and he was shaking. He pushed past it though. They walked down into the creek. It was looking like nothing was left to find. They split up and looked around.

"Virgil," Paton called with a strained and pained voice across the water, "I think I found something." He picked up an envelope and hoped over the water to Virgil. On it "To Virgil and Patton" was neatly written in a black ink. Virgil furrowed his eyebrows at the writting. He looked up at where Patton had been before that's when he noticed foot prints in the mud.

The emo tugged on Patton's sleeve and pointed to the prints, "Those look fresh." Patton looked at them, and yeah, those were definitely new and not his. They looked around and then Virgil noticed a figure, something was familiar about them, but he wasn't going to stick around and find out. "We need to go now!" Virgil pulled his boyfriend's arm and tried to sprint as best he could with his legs. Patton sped up and moved his arm around Virgil's waist so that he was mainly supporting the man. They got back into the car and sat still to catch their breath.  Patton still had the envelop in a tight grip. They calmed down and Patton opened it to find a letter inside. The writing this time was messier and by a lot.

You think you can stop me?! YOU can't stop me! You can't fix this! It's hopeless! How dare you fucking do this! You are the reason! FUCK YOU! I refuse I refuse I refuse. Fuck humanity and honesty and FUCK love!

The two males stared at the letter. Confused on what was happening. "O-okay?" Virgil stuttered, he was so confused.

"I-" Patton tried to think of anything to say, "Okay?" He put the letter in the glove box and thought about everything that has happened. "What has happened to our lives?"

"Just- fucking shit," Virgil sighed, "Highschool sucked but I'd rather be there than here cause damn."

Patton saw the sun rise over the horizon, "Let's head over to Elizabeth's house and see what she knows." Virgil nodded and Patton started the car.
