19~ Back ~19

After assuring Logan and Roman that they'd manage to stay alive Patton and Virgil finally went home. The sun had already slipped below the horizon. Bear was giving a dog smile as she was taken with them. She was excited that her dads weren't leaving her this time and they were happy to take their dog back.

They got read for bed and as Patton took of his shirt Virgil, who was sitting on the bed saw it. There were the base of wings attached to his back. Virgil got up and touched them. Patton jumped, not used to having feeling in the attachment. "My angel is turning into an angel," Virgil murmured. Patton looked at his side in the bedroom mirror. He saw the wings, they weren't that big right now. They looked like mini wings but at the same time they looked incomplete.

Virgil took off his shirt too and he saw the same thing. Although his wings were slightly smaller than Patton's and were a different shape. Patton looked at Virgil's bare stomach and chest, he had too admit that his boyfriend had a cute body. He noticed Virgil starring longer than he had. He wrapped Virgil up in a hug and admired his body with his hands. "Your body is perfect," Patton whispered into his ear. Virgil smiled and felt a kiss being placed to his shoulder. His negative thinking slipped away. He moved more into Patton's warmth. In all this chaos it was calm. At least for now he was in the eye of the storm, he could relax before he continued. For the first time in a while he saw his body what it actually was. And for the first time in a while he liked it.

"I love you so much Patton," Virgil whispered. "You've done so much for me and I am so thankful for you."

Patton had a fond smile, "All I did was what you let me do. Thank yourself for loosening up enough to heal." Virgil's smile grew. He was overwhelmed by Patton's love, but it wasn't a bad overwhelmed, it was amazing. If he were to describe pure joy, he would describe this moment. His loving and patient boyfriend wrapped around him, a peaceful mind, and a sense of security that he only felt with Patton. It was perfect. Patton kissed his cheek before carrying him to bed. They got under the covers and cuddled up to each other. It felt so safe and joyful. They fell asleep quick. They were tired but now they were happy as well.

Tw: Mention of death and swearing for next three paragraphs

They woke up with the same happy feeling. But it was too bright. How long had they slept for? Virgil opened his eyes and saw clouds. He sat up and saw the landscape. Yep, they were definitely back in heaven. "God damn it we died in our fucking sleep!"

"I don't think you should curse in heaven," Patton advised.

"Heckidy-heck we died in our hecking sleep," Virgil corrected himself. Patton giggled at his boyfriend. Virgil got onto his feet and reached a hand down to help Patton up. "Okay we need to find Thomas and ask him why we're here." Thankfully they remembered where Tayln had led them the last time they were there.

After some thinking they were able to find the house of the gods. They found the God of Humanity's throne room and entered. Instead of Thomas in his throne a different man sat with a white shirt a brown jacket and for some reason a sign taped to his chest that read 'Sleep'. In his lap Thomas sat and had his face hidden in the crook of what could be assumed to be the God of Sleep's neck. "Thomas?" Patton called out questioning.

Thomas's eyes opened and he sat up from his curled position. "I'm guessing that's the God of Sleep?" Virgil questioned.

"That's me girl."

"Why do you have that sign tapped to your chest?" Patton asked.

"It's a joke that he rarely sleeps so no one can tell that he's the God of Sleep and so we have to label him," Thomas answered.

"So what are you two cuties doing here?" the God of Sleep asked.

"We don't know. We completed the task and then we started growing wings on Earth. Then we fell asleep and ended up back here," Patton told them.

Thomas furrowed his eyebrows, "You shouldn't have come back. You did complete what I told you to."

"Maybe Joan knows why they came back," Remy proposed.

"Who's Joan?" Patton asked.

"The Deity of Knowledge."

The four headed out of the throne room. It didn't take long until they came up to Joan's room. Joan looked up from their book and smiled at Thomas. "Joan I need your help," Thomas told them.

"What do you need?" Joan asked, quickly becoming serious.

"These two completed their task to go back to Earth but now they're angels again and they're back here," Thomas explained.

"Aren't those two that you keep fanboying over?" Joan asked.

"I am not fanboying over them," Thomas denied.

"You asked me to fix Virgil's sleeping problems because you wanted them to be able to cuddle and fall asleep together," Remy reminded.

"You asked Valerie to fix Virgil's legs enough so he wouldn't be in pain," Joan pointed out.

"Okay so maybe I am their fanboy," Thomas gave in. "But you can't blame me, they're really cute together!"

Joan chuckled at their best friend, "So about them. I don't know why they would be back." Joan hummed and went to their bookshelf. They skimmed the books until he found one called Returning Angels. They flipped the large book open to the table of contents. They saw what page to look for the answers on and turned to page 216. They skimmed the page and then the next. They were finding nothing. It soon became apparent that they would find nothing. Joan put the book back and thought about the situation. They frowned as they looked back up to Thomas, "It could have something to do with your son."

Thomas frowned and looked to the ground. His mood shifted from serious to sad and regretful.

Joan didn't like seeing their friend like this but they had to explain. "With what he did and his corruption it is possible that it's messed with the balance."

Patton and Virgil felt awkward in this situation. The atmosphere was dark and sad, no one wanted to speak. They didn't know what to say, they had no clue what the gods were talking about. "Corruption?" Patton hesitantly questioned.

Tw: Talk about eating disorders and eating disorders

Thomas sighed, "My son was the Prince of Honesty. I thought I was ready to be a father but I wasn't. I became so wrapped up in my work with the Earth that I forgot to take care of my main responsibility, him. He grew distant and as he looked around him he saw how perfect everyone was. He grew depressed as time went on. Eventually he was led to believe that he was imperfect and that's why I didn't pay him enough attention. It just started out with the way he acted and his actions. Soon it developed into his body." Thomas paused to calm himself down and he wiped away some tears. "He started to eat less and less. To hide his eating disorder he started lying. With him being honesty it corrupted him. He was no longer acting like himself. He was so kind before but then he turned cruel." Thomas was shaking, the loss of his son still being an open wound. Remy held him close and kissed the top of his head. He was whispering things to Thomas that were more than likely to be to help him calm down. The painful memories still flashed through Thomas's mind.

----

Honesty looked at his stomach as he pulled up his shirt. Not good enough. I don't deserve to eat. Thomas knocked on his door. "Dinner is ready," Thomas called through the door.

Honesty looked down at his thighs. "I'm not hungry Dad." Honesty felt pain shoot through his body. As Honesty he wasn't made to lie, while being created it was made so he couldn't lie but he had managed to get past that issue.

----

Thomas gently knocked as he entered the room. "Hey H. Are you okay?"

Honesty curled in on himself more. "I'm fine," he growled.

Thomas was shocked, his son never had a harsh tone before, "Are you sure? I haven't seen you eat in a few days."

Honesty sat up. "I said I'm fine!" He screamed at his father. His left eye was a yellow that did not match his other eye. The color faded as he saw how upset his father looked. He looked down in guilt. "Get out of my room," Honesty grumbled.

"But-"

"Get out!"

---- Tw: Implied purging, violence

Thomas had gotten Honesty to eat dinner with him, something they hadn't done in a long time. However his son didn't stay around for long once he finished his food. Thomas frowned as he headed to his bedroom. On his way he passed by his son's room. He heard noises that worried him from inside. He entered the room and saw that the bathroom door was where the noises were coming from and that the door was locked. The noises stopped and after some different noises the door opened. "Are you feeling alright?" Thomas asked.

"What are you doing in here?" Honesty yelled.

"I'm concerned about you."

"That's fucking bullshit! I know you only care about your perfect angels and your perfect earth!"

"No one is perfect and I'm not lying when I say that I care about you."

The yellow eye returned and Honesty's hand began to glow. "No you don't. You fucking hate me and the only way you'll ever love me is if I become the perfect son. Can't you see? That's what I'm trying to become. So that you'll finally be proud of me!"

"You already were the perfect son! You never had to change!"

Honesty laughed at his father, "Liar!" His fiery hand threw a sphere of power at Thomas. Thomas barely dogged the attack and looked at the now burnt wall. He looked to his son just in time to see Honesty's once white wings turn black.

"Honesty you don't have to do this! Let me help you and we can be happy again as father and son!"

Honesty threw up his head in evil laughter, "Honesty is dead. I am now Deceit." He looked down at his father and revealed his half snake face. "Goodnight Thomas." He pulled back his hand and it glowed blindingly bright.

As Deciet threw the light at his father Thomas created a shield to protect himself. Thomas stood up and created his own ball of light. "I don't want to hurt you."

"You're too late for that!"

Thomas refused to look at his son as he fired his powers at him. Deceit was thrown through the wall. He quickly recover and began to flap his wings so he wouldn't fall outside of the House of Gods. Deceit threw another attack at Thomas who blocked it with his hand. Thomas stepped into the hole in the wall. He threw his own attack at his son. Deceit only growled as it hit him. "I'm sorry son. I still love you," Thomas said loud enough for Deceit to hear him. Thomas charged his powers and let them form into a large ball of energy. A tears began to flow down his face as he fired the energy at Deceit. He was sent flying down. He hit some buildings as he went down which tore and tattered his wings. Thomas felt weak from the powerful attack but he had to bubble his son. He jumped down from the hole and landed safely on the next building. He hopped across the rooftops until he came across his son's body. He looked to be knocked out but he stirred. His eyes cracked open and he glared at his father.

"My task is to hurt what you love," he sounded weak. Deceit pulled out a pocket watch and his thumb hovered over the button. "Time: unlimited." He pressed down and light from the watch consumed him.

"No no no no!" Thomas chanted. You can't being an angel back from Earth if they're doing a task to stay on Earth. Thomas was a god, he couldn't go to Earth. He couldn't stop his son.

---- Violence over

Deceit watched as Patton helped Virgil. He felt jealousy rise in him. How dare he get help and love but I don't! Deceit knew how much his father lived to watch these two. He had seen his father watch as they became friends and now he was watching then become lovers. Time went on on Deceit saw Virgil get better.

As Virgil got better Deceit got to see how nice it was to recover. His thoughts began to shift. Maybe I should recover too. But always he would immediately yell at himself to not.

Enraged with jealousy at how loved Virgil was he saw him leave the house late at night. This would be the perfect time to get revenge on his father. Deceit got a knife and started to follow Virgil. He chased him, they fought, Virgil got away.

----- Tw: Implied murder and suicide

This time Deceit had planned it out. He saw one of Patton's students heading home and he knew Patton trusted her as she was his star student. He took her form and went up to Patton. He told him how there was a kid trapped in the tunnel. He believed his "student" and went to go find the child.

Deceit was filled with joy and regret when he finished his plan. He had finally done something to hurt his father but he killed someone who brought joy into another person's life in the process.

He saw Virgil heading into that tall building. He did nothing to stop him.

---- trigger warnings over

Deceit's mind was in conflict. He wanted to take back everything he had ever done since he started lying, he wanted to make things right, he wanted to stay in his sick state of mind. He wanted to be perfect but he also wanted to be happy. He saw Virgil rise from his grave. It was a second shot.

Deceit wrote a letter. It held all his emotions. The ones of pain and wanting to remain sick and ones of willingness to recover.
