The two had checked the downstairs and saw that the person was no longer there. It also looked like no locks or windows were broken. So that confirmed that the killer had a key to their house. They sat at the table, trying to think of what to do now. They had seventy-one hours left. They were looking at the three letters.

"What I don't understand is that the first two were written out but the third used the typewriter and quotation marks," Patton told Virgil.

Virgil looked at the third letter. He bit his lip, "I think I said that to Logan or something like that."

"When?"

"When I told him about my eating disorder I told him it was okay to tell Roman because I trusted both of them," Virgil explained.

"But why would they go through the effort of writing it out and then putting it on our bed?" Patton asked.

"I don't think there is a reason. Maybe they're just trying to throw us off," Virgil suggested. Patton hummed and there was a knock at the door. He got up and opened it. He came back with another envelop that had the same neat writing on the outside. There was a letter on the inside in the same messy writing.

They wrote down all the capital letters like they did with the second letter. "Virgil alone at the creek," Patton read.

"I'll be found dead before I do what they say alone," Virgil said.

"We might die if we don't do what they say. They seem to like to mess with us, but with every tease we know more information. Maybe we'll get be able to find out who it is."

Virgil frowned, "I'll do it. But you have to be nearby in case anything happens."

"I promise I'll protect you."
