Kate's POV

I wake up the next morning to a cold room and shiver. I allow my body to glow a little bit so that I can warm up before fading back to normal. I change into black spandex and a sports bra before walking out of my room. I make a right at the intersection and knock on Bucky's door. I hear him groaning about how early it is and open his door.

"Kate?" He asks. "It's 5 o'clock in the morning! Can't you wait 2 hours?"

"Why didn't you want to tell me?" I ask, crossing my arms. "You knew he was cheating, is that why you took me running every morning?"

"What?" He asks, half-asleep. "I found out right before Steve told you. I agreed with him that he should tell you after he argued his point." I take a deep breath. "Let me sleep a little longer then we'll go, okay?"

"Okay." I say quietly, closing his door behind me. I look at Steve's door, contemplating going in, but decide against it. Instead I decide to go for a run by myself, there's no way I'll be able to fall asleep now.

I arrive at an abandoned warehouse and decide to go inside. This place is perfect to test out my abilities. No casualties, no damage to worry about, just me and my freakiness.

My hands begin to glow and I shoot some fire out of them toward my makeshift targets. Next I cup my hands together and make a small fire ball before throwing it across the warehouse. I smile and try again, this time making the ball bigger. With practice I could probably get them to be huge.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes before opening them and as well as my mouth, which spits fire upon command. I decide to try what I was doing last night before Steve showed up. I close my eyes, focusing on all of my energy as I feel my temperature rise. I open my eyes and look down at my hands as they burst into flames. A wide smile appears on my face and I quickly set the rest of my body up in flames as my hair goes flying up as if the wind is blowing it.

I let the flames subside before walking over to a steel beam and lifting it with one hand. I should probably train my super strength more often. I set the beam down and realize that a lot of time has passed. Thank God I brought extra clothes because the ones I was wearing bursted into flames when I combusted. That's something I'll have to figure out with my suit. I quickly slip on the new shorts and sports bra before beginning my jog back to the tower.

Steve's POV

"Steve?" I wake up to a knock on my door and Bucky shaking me.

"Hey Buck, what is it?" I ask, squinting to look at him.

"Kate's gone." Those two words wake me up like a splash of cold water.

"What? What do you mean she's gone? Where did she go?" I worry, jumping out of bed.

"I don't know! She came into my room at 5 ready to go for our run but I begged her to let me sleep a little longer so she left my room. I woke up a few minutes ago, got ready, and went to her room to find it empty. I checked downstairs and asked the others but nobody has seen her." He speaks quickly but I catch every word of it.

I run out of my room and to the elevator. I push the button and wait impatiently for it to get here. The elevator finally dings and the doors open to reveal Kate standing there.

"Hey." She smiles.

"Hey?" I ask. "Where were you? You can't just disappear without telling anyone!" I stress, pulling her into a hug as Bucky runs over to us.

"I just went for a jog." She says, confused.

"I told you to wait for me." Bucky says.

"I couldn't sleep." She shrugs.

"You could've woken me up." I say to her.

She looks up at me and gives me a small smile. "I know, but you wouldn't have approved."

"Approved?" I raise an eyebrow. "Approved of what?"

She smiles widely and grabs my hand as well as Bucky's before pulling us into the elevator. She presses the button for the training floor and we arrive in a few minutes. She leads us to one of the training rooms that Tony made specially for her so there's no sprinkler system.

"Oh, um, I haven't exactly figured out the suit factor for one of the things I'm about to show you so when I say close your eyes, close your eyes. Got it?" She asks, Bucky and I nod. "Good. Enjoy the show." She smiles before stepping into the room and closing the door behind her.

She shoots fire from her hands, which we knew about already. Then she forms a fire ball in her hands before throwing it to the other side of the room. Bucky raises his eyebrows and nods. She then closes her eyes. When she opens them again they're a bright yellow. My jaw drops as I watch her breathe fire and Bucky gasps. She looks at the both of us and smirks before her entire body bursts into flames.

"KATE!" I yell, worried that she's not doing this on purpose. I run towards the door and swing it open. As I run to her, the flames disappear and her skin fades back to its normal color. "What.. When did.. How?" I ask, both amazed and confused.

"I found an abandoned warehouse and decided to use that as a practicing space." She explains. I shake my head at her. "I knew you wouldn't approve." She teases.

It's only now that I realize that she's fully naked. I feel myself blush and look to Bucky who's already covering his eyes.

"Oh, right.. close your eyes." She laughs at my red face and grabs a towel that she had brought with her.

"What's going on in here?" I clench my fists at the sound of his voice. "Where are your clothes?" He asks, pointing at Kate.

"They disintegrated." She says simply, not bothering to look at him.

"Mhm. And why is he in there?" He points to me.

"Because he was concerned." She spits, walking right past him.

" 'Concerned' my ass." Tony scoffs, glaring at me. The others soon appear to begin their training and Bucky joins them as I chase after Kate.

"Hey! Where are you going?" I ask, catching her in the elevator.

"I need to talk to Bruce about making a suit that won't, yknow, disappear." She laughs.

"Good idea." I laugh with her.

We arrive at the Research and Development floor and search for Bruce, eventually finding him in one of the labs.

"Hey guys! What're you.. Why are you only in a towel?" He asks, keeping his eyes on Kate's to prevent them from wandering.

"About that.. I may or may not have to ability to burst into flames." She begins, Bruce's eyes widen. "Would you be able to make a suit that doesn't disintegrate when I do that?"

"Oh, um, I'd have to ask Tony but I'm sure we could add something to it for that." He says, Kate smiles and nods.

"Thanks Bruce. I'm gonna go get dressed now." She laughs as she turns and walks out of the lab.

"You've got a wild one there, Cap." He says to me once she's out of earshot.

"Steve, are you coming?" She calls, making me blush. I look at Bruce and he winks, making me roll my eyes before I run off to follow Kate.
