Chapter 2: Why?
Normal (POV)
Lucy and Natsu headed to her apartment to ready themselves for their long and complicated mission.
Natsu followed Lucy in fear, knowing that at any moment she'll finally explode. They reached the apartment and that's when it all came down.
Lucy unlocked her front door and jestured for Natsu to enter.
"Luce..." Natsu said.
"Don't Luce me... Natsu are you an idiot? You realized you quit the Guild right!" Lucy interrupted.
"I know that." He said.
"I don't think you do. Natsu your no longer a Fairytail wizzard. Your just another nomad like me."
Natsu's (POV)
Lucy was angry but so was I...
"I don't care about that!"
"You don't care! Natsu they are your friends... They are your family!" She yelled.
"They're your family too, Luce!" I yelled back.
"Natsu... I'm different... I never truly belonged at Fairytail." She said softly.
"BULLSHIT! Lucy being in the Guild is the very meaning of belonging!" I shouted.
"That doesn't even make any sense. This all would've been a whole lot easier if you just learned to leave things be." Lucy cried. She then plopped onto her couch and began to sob.
"There's a reason why I didn't want you to come... And... Fuck!" She threw one of her pillows at me.
"Yeah, well there's a reason why I want to go with you!" I threw the pillow back but not with much force.
"Why would you possibly want to come with me... I'm only a burden to all... Not even a week after joining Fairytail I caused a war between us and Phantom Lord."
"I'm at fault for what happened at the Dragon festival. I'm the one who opened the gate or did you forget. It's me! It's all my fault, Aquarius, Igneel... It's my fault that they're gone." She cried.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!"
"Lucy it's not your fault... We would never blame you for all of that. We take the blame as well. We all live in this world together so we must accept the blame and the consequences together." I tried my best to calm her down but it seems this is all going nowhere.
"Natsu... I'm sorry, Igneel's gone because of me. Hate me, it's okay, I deserve it." She cried.
"I would never hate you Luce, cause I..." Before I could finish my sentence she screamed at me once more.
"What is wrong with you?! Why can't you see that all I've done has caused trouble to you and the rest of the Guild?! Why can't you just leave me be?! It better when I'm alone no one gets hurt... WHY DO YOU INSIST ON HELPING ME WHEN I SHOULD JUST..." She paused for a moment and steadied her breathing.
"If only you knew then what I would've brought to the Guild maybe... Maybe you wouldn't have even brought me to Fairytail."
By then... I lost myself in her eyes. Eyes that have cried numerous times in front of me... But this time it's not because of battle or a misunderstanding. She's crying because all this time she's been hiding behind that smile and now she's finally letting it all go.
'If she can let go... So can I.'
Minutes passed and I thought of many different scenarios if I never brought Lucy to the guild... All of them were unthinkable. All of them were painful... None were happy like the moments we have shared in reality.
"See? It's hard... To face the truth. Isn't it? Face it Natsu, Lucy Heartfilia has done nothing but hurt... It's better if she just disapeared and became nonexistent like before." Lucy stood up and headed for her bedroom but I snatched her arm and pulled her into my chest. I held onto her for dear life.
"Natsu?" She asked.
"Don't say that Luce. I'm glad I brought you to the Guild. Without you we wouldn't be here... I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have something to live for... You are... You are the reason why..."
I tightened my embrace...
"Luce I can't live with out you..."
"Why not?" She asked crying into my chest.
"Because... Lucy I... I love you."
Lucy's sobs became silent... A minute later she resumed her cries louder than before.
"How Natsu? How can you love someone like me?" She asked.
"Loving you... There's no reason needed." I said back.
"Natsu... I... I love you too!" She pulled at my coat and sobbed harder.
"Stop crying Luce... There's no need for tears. I don't regret anything... Your my everything... Your my family."
Lucy's (POV)
My heart wants to explode... All I've done is hurt and yet... He still loves me. It seems impossible but it's Natsu, and with Natsu anything is possible.
"Lucy, we should get going." He loosened his arms around me.
"Wait, aren't you going to say goodbye to the guild before..."
"No need, after all we're coming back someday."
"Your sure about this it's not too late..."
"Lucy, my mind has been made up. There's no going back now." He gently pushed me toward my room. "Go pack, only the necessities, okay?"
"Yes, Natsu." I went to my closet grabbed a duffle bag and packed everything I needed. Natsu talked to my land lady that we are going to be gone. She's going to hold my apartment for me while we are away. When we return I'll have to pay her.
Natsu and I headed for the train station.
"So where was the last sighting of Thirteenth Eye?" He asked.
"The Council doesn't really know the last known location... Just somewhere along the eastern border of Fiore." I answered.
"Ugh that sounds far." Natsu moaned.
"Hey, Natsu... We can walk..." I said.
"No way... I'm not letting you walk that far!" He said back.
"It's fine really, I think I could use a long walk." I could not let him go through that much motion sickness.
"Lucy are you sure?" He asked still concerned.
"Yeah, besides maybe we could use the extra time... Just you and me... Never mind I'm just being stupid." I could feel the heat rise in my face.
"No Luce... I agree. It's settled then, we're walking." He held my hand and pulled me towards the edge of town.
His hand is strangely soft. I always thought that his hands would feel rough but they're soft.
"Luce there's something I want to do before we leave Magnolia." Natsu stated.
"What?" I asked.
"Lucy... How would you feel if... I mean would you... Can we... I WANT YOU TO MARRY ME!" He studdered.
'Did he just... Ask me to marry him.'
I lost myself, starring off into the distance. Natsu waved his hand over my line of sight.
"Lucy... Luce... LUCE!" He yelled.
"S-sorry..."
"I'll take that as a no then." He frowned.
"N-no Natsu, I'd be the happiest girl in Earthland... Yes." I couldn't help but smile.
"Huh?" He said confused.
'Classic Natsu.'
"My answer: Yes Natsu, I'll marry you."
A big smile crept it's way onto his face. He picked me up and spun me around.
"Really Luce?" He said gleefully.
"Really." He placed me back on the ground. As I was readjusting from being spun around he pulled me close... And kissed me on the lips.
My knees buckled underneath me but he held me up with his strong arms.
'My first kiss...'
It lasted for a good minute then he released me. We both gasped for air. Our breathing was heavy, soon after our breathing became normal.
"If I knew kissing was that good I would've been doing it allot sooner." Natsu said still alittle affected by our kiss.
"Yeah." I said back.
"You don't think it's too soon?" He asked.
"A little, but who cares... It's you." I stated.
"Well then let's go..." He grabbed my hand again.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"To get married silly." He laughed.
We arrived at the church and we asked the priest to marry us. Our ceremony was the usual but with out the flowers and the big white dress. None of that really mattered to me though because either way I'm still marrying the man of my dreams.
What surprised me the most was at our unexpected wedding... Natsu had rings prepared.
'Did he mean to ask me before all of this happened?'
A simple gold band with four small diamonds. It was perfect. My newly wed husband and I began our long journey...
Today I thought I lost everything... only to gain everything I ever wanted.
Today I got married to Natsu Dragneel.
I still can't help but think 'Why me?'.
'He could've had any one but why me?'
"I love you Luce, you know that right?" Natsu said out of the blue.
"I know... I love you too, Mr. Dragneel."
"I love you more Mrs. Dragneel." He pulled me into his lips for a sweet and passionate kiss.
After our loving moment we focused on our objective... Only one thing remained on our minds.
'Thirteenth Eye, where are you?'
