Emma

I was sitting on the couch with Avery and Tessa as we joked around with each other.

"So, we have a pack dinner tonight. I have already confirmed with Beta Alex that you are invited." Avery said.

I then panicked.

"Is he going to be there, Alpha Theo?" They nodded in unison and gave each other a look. "Girls...when is this dinner?"

"Now...Don't be mad, I just didn't want you to think about to too much. Maybe it will go great. Tessa and I are going and we also didn't want to leave you alone here where you are unfamiliar."

I opened my mouth in shock. I was not mad at her just caught off guard by this sudden information. I looked down at my athletic outfit that I needed to change out of as it was not acceptable for dinner.

"I have to change!" I yelled as I went to the guest room and rummage through my bag. I hear the girls laugh at me.

"Why, you look great?" Avery said and Tessa agrees.

"This is not acceptable dinner attire especially when my mate is going to be there."

"Well, Tick tock Emma." Avery said to me as I hurry and put on a sundress as it was easy. Good thing I came prepared.

"Well, maybe you should have warned me sooner." I say to her, brushing my hair. I knew I looked like a sweaty mess and I knew my mom would be furious to see me look so disheveled for an important dinner. But, she was not here to see and I did not care anymore.

"Too bad. Let's go so we can get seats near him." Avery said, practically pushing Tessa and I out the front door. "Also, there is a guest today besides you so he will probably be distracted. Maybe he won't even notice you."

"She looks too good. If he does not notice her then he is an idiot." Tessa says, looking at my pink dress. "Why are you dressed so much nicer than us."

"My mom always taught me to look nice." I said, shrugging my shoulders. I tried my best to flatter my messy hair.

I could feel myself sweating with anxiety as I had no idea how this dinner was going to go. Will he ignore me? Will he notice me?

I wasn't sure which one is worse.

We walked up the big building that I figured was the pack house. The grand doors open as to let in the members. I took in a deep breath and Avery stepped in front of me, laying her hands on my shoulders.

"Hey, no matter what, it will be okay. Look I don't want to talk bad about my Alpha, but you're my friend now. So, fuck him if he does not accept you. I may not know you much or for long but I feel a great bond between us." She said, smiling at me. Tessa smiles and nods her head in agreement.

"Thank you guys. I have never know friends like you." I say, gesturing for them that I am ready to go inside.

As I walk in, members look at me as I am someone they do not recognize. A man with black curly hair jogs towards us with a wide grin on his face.

"Avery, Tessa, is this her?" He says, holding out his hand to me. "Hello, I am Alex, the beta." The way he smirked at me made me feel as he had something planned. I was not liking the feeling.

"I am Emma." I said to him, returning the hand shake.

He leans to my ear. "You look beautiful Emma."

"Alex stop being a fuck boy. This is you-know-who's mate." Avery said, rolling her eyes.

That shocked me. In my pack, if you were to roll your eyes at my beta, my dad, he would punish you. You were not to disrespect the Alpha or Beta.

"I am just having some fun. Am I not allowed to appreciate her beauty." He winks at me and it causes me to blush. "Now, let me show you lovely ladies to your seats.

We follow him a large table, some people sitting around, talking and laughing. It was refreshing to see everyone so care free. My pack was so uptight.

"Do not let him bother you. He likes to get into people's head. It is his speciality." Tessa whispers to me.

We reached towards the end of the table and Alex pulls out a chair near the one of the very end.

I sat and he sat across from me, Avery and Tess sitting next to me.

I put my hands in my lap, playing with my fingers nervously. Then it hit me. I was going to be sitting next to the Alpha Theo. I shot my head up to look at Alex as he gave me a smirk.

"What is wrong?" He said, frowning acting as though he did nothing wrong.

I gave him a kick under the table and he looked shocked. I did it without thinking and I almost regretted it, but I didn't.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I am gonna have to tell Theo about this one. He is going to have to punish you bad for kicking the Beta." He said acting as though I had hurt him.

"You-" I start saying as Alpha Theo comes to the table along with another man.

He stops his conversation looking at me in surprise. He looks at Alex.

Alex smirks at Alpha Theo takes a seat beside me scotting his chair from me. The other man sits beside Alex. The man had blonde hair and was very handsome, though not as handsome as Alpha Theo.

"Hello Alex." He man says, shaking hands with him.

"Alpha Bryan." Alex says and whispers something in his ear that I could not hear.

Alpha Bryan then looks at me, looking me up and down like he was checking me out. He reaches his hand over to shake it.

"I am Alpha Bryan, but please call me Bryan." I put my hand into his and tell him my name. Instead of shaking it he leans over to give my hand a kiss. "Emma, you a so beautiful."

I practically rip my hand out of his grip and my face turns red from embarrassment. Alex and him smirk at each other. A pound on the table makes us all jump.

"Knock it off you two." Alpha Theo angrily says, his eyes black. The two smirk and laugh at what they caused and started talking to each other.

People then plate food in front of us. Grilled chicken with vegetables. I start awkwardly eating as I could feel Alpha Theo sneaking looks at me as he talked to Alex and Bryan, though I did not pay attention to their conversation.

"Hey Emma, if Alpha idiot does not want you can I assist you to my guest room here?" Bryan says out of nowhere and I start choking on my food..literally. I gasp for breath and then I was jerked out of my seat and someone performed the heimlich on me.

I try to recover myself as I notice the arms still around me, sending tingles throughout my body.

It was Alpha Theo. He releases his grip around me. I felt empty as he lets go of me.

"Are you okay?" He asks. I nod my head in embarrassment and look over to see Bryan face covered in worry.

"Emma, I was totally joking I am so sorry." He said, taking a step towards me, but came to a halt as Alpha Theo growls at him.

"Can I be excused please?" I ask them, breaking it up. I hear a yes from Alpha Theo and I hurriedly exit the room, everyone worriedly staring at me.

Theo's POV

I get ready for dinner tonight. My meetings went as expected. The two Alphas wanting a piece of my pack and me turning it down as they gave me nothing to ensure their trust.

There was only one Alpha that I put my trust in. That Alpha was Bryan. Though he got on every single nerve I had as him and Alex were identical. I liked him and trusted him. He was a friend.

He was going to stay with us for a few days, making plans for more fighters from his pack as the rogue attacks becoming more frequent. Bryan and I helped each other when we needed it and our packs had a strong bond and trusted relationship. 

I greet him in his room, giving him a hand shake, but he pulled me into a hug.

"I have missed you Theo." He said, patting me on the back and released the hug.

"I have missed you too Bryan. You ready for dinner?" I ask him. Whenever he came to visit we had a pack dinner to get everyone that wanted to come together.

"Always ready for dinner. Maybe I will find some dessert while I am there." He said, winking at me.

"You are a man whore." I said, laughing at him and his idiotic tendencies.

I reach the table as I notice my mate sitting there, across from Alex. I did not say a word as I sat down. Her incredible sent overflowing my nose and I had to scoot away from her to get away.

I gave Alex a look. I wondered what she was doing her and I had a feeling he was responsible. 

He smirks at me and whispers something to Bryan.

"The girl across from me is Theo's mate. He has not accepted her and we need get them together." He said. 

I am going to kill me later. Like actually tear his stupid head from his stupid body. He knew this would get under my skin and he knew exactly what he was doing. 

Alpha Bryan then looks at her, looking her up and down. He reaches his hand over her.

"I am Alpha Bryan." She put her small hand into his big one and said her name.

Emma.

That was the first time hearing her voice. Her name. 

My wolf stirred as he heard her angelic voice.

"Emma, you a so beautiful." Bryan said and I couldn't help but internally agree. She was so beautiful, her long brown hair flowing around her, slightly messy but it was cute.

Bryan kisses her hand and I internally growled as not to let them hear how much it affected me. I could not help it when I banged my fist on the table, my wolf coming into control as he sees Bryan kiss our mate.

"Knock it off you two." I growl out. 

Food was plated in front of us and I began eating the food. I talked with Bryan and Alex, but I could not help sneaking looks at her. I notice it was making her uncomfortable. I felt bad and wanted to comfort her, but I knew that was not a good idea.

"Hey Emma, if Alpha idiot does not want you can I assist you to my guest room here?" I hear Bryan said and I saw red.

He is a fucking idiot.

It was quickly stopped by hearing Emma gasp for breath as she choked. Before I knew it I wrapped my arms around her. Trying to save her. Once she was okay, recovering herself, I loosened my grip but did not let go yet.

"Are you okay?" I asked her. I could not help but notice her beautiful brown eyes filled with tears. She nodded her head and looked towards Bryan.

"Emma, I was totally joking I am so sorry." Bryan said, taking a step towards her. I growled at him tol back off and he complied, backing up slightly.

"Can I be excused please?" I heard her say and I said yes.

She ran off and I looked at the two idiots, my wolf taking control.

"We are sorry Theo, we were stupid and was just trying to get under your skin." Alex says, begging me to forgive him. I see Tessa and Avery leave and go after her.

"No, you are stupid if you do not go after her." Bryan says, I growl at him. "She is beautiful and you need to grow some balls and get over yourself. Before you push her away."

I knew he was right, but I just couldn't.
