The next day, Andrew had to tutor Luca. He waited for her after school, in the library as usual, and watched the clock as the minutes ticked by.
This time she was only five minutes late.
Fantastic.
Andrew didn't stand up as the blonde girl entered, as cheery as usual, and didn't say hello as she sat down in the seat across from him. She grinned, blinking feverishly, and started to open her mouth. Andrew cut her off, "What lesson today?" It was a bit, okay a lot, harsher than he ever was with another student but . . . This girl just pressed the wrong buttons to him, and he didn't take kindly to anyone upsetting Percy.
"English." She pouted slightly, sticking her bottom lip out and folding her arms over her grey crop top. "What got shoved up your ass, Andy?"
He tried to swallow the growl rising in his throat, he hated that name. "My name is Andrew." He explained, ignoring her question. "Let's get started."
The whole time Luca found excuses to lean over his shoulder, brush up against his arm, touch his hand. Meaning, the whole time, Andrew was uncomfortable and wanted to leave the damned library.
The old Grandfather Clock chimed, meaning their lesson was done.
Thanking whatever gods there were, Andrew sighed, piling his books in his bag. Luca grabbed his wrist, smiling softly-almost coyly. "I was thinking-" However, Andrew didn't figure out what it was that Luca was thinking, because the library door opened.
"I know a certain nerd that owes me a hot chocolate!" Cat-called a black haired teenaged girl from the door frame. Her ripped up jeans and black sweater matched her boots and the book bag she had over one shoulder. Her green eyes held mischief and wicked amusement at the look on Luca's face, though she never graced the blonde girl with her attention. Preferring to just ignore the bitch.
Percy.
Andrew sighed, trying to hide the grin threatening to over take his face, pulling away from Luca and sauntering over to Percy with his hands tucked into his front pockets. She hadn't stopped calling him 'nerd' all day, thanks to the red sweater he was wearing over a white V-neck. Which confused him, she's the one that had made him buy the stupid thing. And stole it, over, and over, and over again.
"I know a certain emo that has a very high opinion of herself." He towered over her, but when she grinned and winked it was as if she sat on a throne far above his bowing form. A crown dangling from her fingers as she crossed her legs and those green eyes took in the world. "But, I guess this nerd can get the emo a hot chocolate." He sighed, the sign of long-suffering.
A sharp cleared throat had him glancing over his shoulder. Luca smiled sweetly up at him, fluttering her lashes and folding her hands in front of her. "Andy, dear, we were just talking." The voice was sweet and honeyed, but the viscous edge meant for Percy wasn't missed.
"No, we weren't, we were ending our tutoring session for the day." He waved as Percy grabbed his hand and pulled him from the room. "Bye Luca." He didn't look back, but by the way Percy's eyes lit up, he could guess Luca was throwing a right tantrum.
"Oh, I hate that bitch." Percy said, rolling her eyes and still dragging Andrew behind her. "But, anyways, you do owe me a hot chocolate." He knew, had remembered the little bet that he had lost about a week ago.
He had, stupidly, said he could eat more hotdogs than the tiny female in front of him. Key word there; stupidly. Sam had made enough hotdogs for five people to have been competing, never doing anything half-assed in his life, and Percy had kicked Andrew's sorry ass quite easily.
The reward for winning had been the loser had to buy the winner a hot chocolate.
So that's where they went, using Andrew's car instead of Percy's bike for once. This little shop by the park making the best in town, expect for Percy's dad. The bestfriends strolled through the park, chatting while drinking their hot chocolates. Percy was wrapped up in a baggy hoodie, one of Andrew's to be exact that she had stole from his drawer that morning, and Andrew just buttoning up his sweater.
The cool air blew hard on the very few remaining leaves, clinging for dear life to the grey branches. Late fall, almost winter. Both Andrew's and Percy's favorite time of the year.
"What are you going to Peter's Halloween party as?" Percy asks, walking on the stone wall beside Andrew, who was walking on the sidewalk-like a normal human being.
"I'll tell you my costume, if you tell me yours." He said simply, grinning as his friend pouted. Neither of them ever told the other what they were going to show up as, except the one year Percy wanted to do a group costume and somehow pulled Andrew into being the male-Alice to her female-Mad Hatter. Let's just say, his friends had gotten plenty of blackmail that year.
Then . . . Of course . . . There was the um, Princess Zelda and Link incident.
Andrew can't tell you how many times Percy had jumped in front of him and said "I'll save you Princess!" even if he was wearing a male version of the costume that Percy and he had slaved over making-along with her Link outfit.
The woman could convince him of almost anything if she used her baby seal eyes.
"Ugh." Percy rolled her eyes, tossing her empty cup into the trash can a few feet away. "I'm torn between two ideas . . . " She trailed off, crossing her arms. Andrew couldn't help the tiny smile on his lips as he looked her over, the adorable sweater paws and hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. "One is scary, the other is funny. So I was asking you to gauge what to do-if you're going scary I will too, if you go funny then that means it's the other choice."
"I was planning something kind-of both." Andrew smirked, standing in front of his friend, standing on the rock wall and peering into nothing-a slight frown showing one of her dimples. "So if that helps . . ." He trailed off and shrugged, smiling up at her.
"Okay then." She sighed, waited until he had turned his back to toss his cup in the trash, and jumped on his back. She giggled the whole time he raced them back to his car.
