Chapter 18: Tuesday Night-Wednesday

Toast hadn't even left the room to eat for the rest of the day. He was kept up in his room, doing whatever he could to distract himself.

He wasn't even talking to Ghost. How could he, after the realization he had? He didn't know how Ghost would take it if he found out, and he wasn't positive he wanted to find out.

There was a knock on his door. Toast ignored it, he didn't want to talk to his mom, or anybody else in his family who would surely judge him, maybe tell or scream some more, and he didn't want that.

"Toast?" He heard them through the door. "It's me, Gavin. Mom told me what happened.. can we talk? You know I accept you and everything, right?"

Toast hesitated. Then, his door was unlocked, Gavin allowed inside as Toast stood silently and scared in the doorway. "I'm so confused about everything right now, Gavin.."

"I'm sure you are." Gavin smiled at his brother kindly. "You've never really liked anyone before, you don't know how to handle it, you're not sure if you really even know what you're feeling. Trust me, I understand."

"How come we're twins but you seem older and wiser than me? You sound like an old man." Toast teased, but he was glad Gavin understood. The two moved and sat next to each other on the bed.

"That's not what's important right now, is it Toaster?" Gavin chuckled. "What's important right now is that you know I'm here for you to talk about anything." He nudged his shoulder playfully, and Toast nudged him back.

"I know you are.." he muttered. "I just, don't know what I'm supposed to do now."

"Does he make you feel happy, and take care of you?" Gavin asked suddenly, and Toast frowned.

"Well, yeah. He does." He nodded.

"Then that's what's important, not what mom, dad, or even I think. What matters is that you're doing well. Though, you could probably be just as happy hanging out with this Ghost guy like normal kids as you were vandalizing the school building, however funny that was." Gavin laughed again. "Whatever happens next with him kinda depends on you. Are you happy being friends with him, or do you wanna tell him how you feel?"

Toast didn't say anything, and for a bit the two sat in silence. "I think.. I would like it, if he knew.." he whispered. Gavin nodded.

"I can drive you to his house again tomorrow, if you want. I'll be right behind you, so don't worry about it." Gavin offered. "I'll beat him too, if he breaks your heart. Just a warning."

Toast laughed. "I don't think he'd do that, though."

"'No. I don't think so either." Gavin shook his head. "I think he likes you as well."

"Thank you, Gavin." Toast looked at his brother with a smile. "I think I should probably get some rest, if going to be going to see him tomorrow. Have to prepare myself."

"I gotcha, goodnight then." Gavin grinned as he stood up, saluting at Toast before leaving the room.

Toast took a deep breath as he lay down in bed. He wasn't sure he was prepared for tomorrow, but he supposed he would just have to get through it.

Toast chewed his lip, drumming his fingers on the car door as Gavin drove him. He was incredibly nervous.

"Dude, would ya just chill out? It will work out in the end, I promise you." Gavin glanced at him. "So stop tapping already before I get an even worse headache."

"Sorry." Toast shrugged, instead focusing on calming his breathing. He wasn't going to panic. Like Gavin said, it would all work out in the end.

It didn't take them long to get there. Toast didn't make a move to get out of the car, so Gavin waited with him. He already has a plan for what he was going to do, so the only thing left was to actually get up and do it. "You can't wait around forever Toaster, we should get going. Take a deep breath and calm down."

Toast nodded, taking one more second before opening the car door and stepping out. He walked up to the door of Ghost's house, knocking on it and stepping back to wait.

It didn't take long for Ghost to open the door, looking at the two of them in confusion. "What's up? Didn't think you were coming over today."

"Uh.. I wanted to talk to you about something." Toast glanced behind him at Gavin. "Could we go to your room for a minute?"

"Of course. You can come in Gavin, Jimmy is in the living room." Ghost told Gavin, he nodded and made his way inside while Ghost and Toast went up to his room.

The second that Ghost turned to face Toast after closing his door he felt a pair of lips connect with his own. It took a moment to realize what had happened, but once he did his eyes were sliding closed as he leaned into it, kissing back.

Toast pulled away from him after a few moments, taking a few deep breaths before speaking. "Johnny Ghost... you've made me more happy than I've ever been in my entire life. I said before that you're the best and only friend I've ever had, but I've realized that I feel more feelings towards you than just friendly feelings.." he paused, glancing at the floor.

"I think that I love you." He muttered. The room stayed silence for a minute, neither of them moving. Toast wasn't sure what to expect now, did his silence mean he didn't feel the same? Would this change everything? Toast was about to start panicking, when Ghost chuckled.

"I'm glad you told me that." He grinned widely at Toast, who looked confused. "You took a chance I wasn't even going to take. You're even braver than I am."

"What do you mean?" Toast asked. He noticed Ghost's face was red.

"I wasn't going to tell you that I loved you before, because I was afraid." He laughed, trying to hide his face behind his hand. Toast grinned.

"You really like me back?" He questioned, and Ghost nodded. Toast took a hold of his hand and pulled it away from his face, leaning forward so their noses nearly touched. "Then I'm glad I took the chance and did what made me happy... Thank you, for teaching me to do that."

Ghost smiled brightly, shaking his head a little bit. "Stop thanking me with words, just kiss me again." He laughed, and Toast chucked as well as he leaned in for another kiss.

The two of them held the other closely, both feeling incredibly happy to have each other. They weren't worried about what anybody else may think, they didn't care that Toast's mother would likely be furious over this. They didn't care, because they were together, and they were happy, and that's all that matters.
