Chapter 17: Tuesday Evening

Although it may have seemed like Toast had brushed off the incident at Ghost's house, it was the only thing he seemed capable of thinking about the moment he'd left on his way home. He feels embarrassed still, as anyone would, but he didn't feel any other negative emotion towards the kiss, and that's what confused him.

The more he thought about it, the more he found that he actually enjoyed it, being that close to Ghost. He found that he wouldn't have minded at all if Ghost had actually kissed him.

All the pieces of the puzzle were starting to come together for Toast. The reason he didn't mind the thought of kissing Ghost, the reason he even liked the flirting Ghost did with him. He took a moment and thought of what it would be like if he dated Ghost. The more he thought about it, the nicer that thought sounded.

Toast had romantic feelings for Ghost. Toast loved him.

Toast suddenly stopped in place, the realization hitting him hard. He knew that it was true, it made sense, and he accepted it. He hadn't ever had to question whether he liked boys or girls, but he didn't really think that mattered. He didn't like either-he just liked Ghost.

The real problem was, what would Ghost think? What would his mom think? Did he really care what she thought?

He wasn't really sure about that, but now he was home and he realized he was going to have to face her. She would definitely know that he had snuck out, and she wasn't going to be happy.

So, taking a deep breath, Toast swung open the door and headed inside carefully. It didn't take long for them to realize it was Toast, and after that the house was immediately filled with shouting.

Toast was fully prepared to ignore them, to listen and go to his room when they told him too. That was, until his mom screamed something about Ghost.

"This wouldn't have ever happened if you didn't meet that boy! He's done nothing but leave a bad influence on you, and-"

Toast was fast to cut her off, screaming back. "Ghost has done nothing but make me happy!" He glared at her, and she closed her mouth abruptly in shock. "He has helped me to realize that I wasn't happy doing what I had been, sitting alone every day with no friends and only focusing on my school, all it did was make you happy. You never thought about what made me happy!"

Toast's mother was still at a loss for words, staring wide-eyed at her son as he went on.

"Did you ever even realize I never had a single friend in my life? No one is happy being completely alone. He told me that I could follow my own path, I didn't have to follow every single little thing you said! He's made me happier then I have ever been, and I care so much about him." Toast said, each sentence getting louder and louder until the end. "I love him." He whispered those last words, his mom still able to hear them, the only words uttered in this silent house.

It took him a moment to realize he had spoken aloud, and that he had been heard. His mom was in a shocked silence, looking confused, and still furious.

Toast's face burned hotter and brighter than it ever had before as he ran to his room in embarrassment, slamming the door behind him and collapsing into his desk chair, breathing shallowly. Don't panic, don't panic, he told himself. He did his best to hold it back; but his mind had already wandered back to what he had said, already lost control of his breathing.

He just told his mom that he was in love with a boy. In love with Ghost.

Muahahahaha. Just wait for the next chapter, it's gonna be great~

And yes. The next chapter is in fact, the last one.

And you have to wait one more day for it! Then I'll most likely post the epilogue on the same day, and this story will be completed.

Predictions? Tell me what you're thinking might happen, or just how you're feeling about the story so far! Always wanna hear from you guys.

I hope that you enjoyed this chapter, and I can't wait to finally bring this book to its end. Bye!-Bob
