Chapter 15: Monday Evening
To say Toast's mom was angry was an understatement-even to use the word furious wouldn't even brush the surface of just how mad she was at Toast at this moment.
"What happened to you, Johnny?" She was screaming. "You used to be an excellent student, you never got into any trouble! Now you're suspended? This is all because of that friend you have, I told you he was a bad influence on you!" She shook her head disappointedly.
Toast didn't say anything-he didn't have anything to say. He knew arguing back would be pointless, so he did his best to bite his tongue-he couldn't help when a few smart remarks slipped out, though. They went back and forth, mostly his mom, before he was sent up to his room for the day.
He pulled out his phone the second he was hidden away, his parents still believed they had it locked up, and opened up Ghost's contact, hesitating over it. He decided to pull it up and text him.
T: I had fun today. Never thought I'd be one to pull pranks and get suspended.
G: I'm glad you had fun. Do you regret it?
T: not for a second. Actually, I was wondering what other two-person pranks you might have in store.
G: really? Oh, I have plenty! Let me find my notebook-I've written them down.
Toast smiled as he waited for Ghost to get back, thinking of how happy he was hanging out with him. He continued thinking of Ghost on into the night, when he was trying to sleep. The two had talked for hours over the phone, talking about pranks, and other fun things to do while they hung out.
He thought about what Ghost had said earlier that day. "You know you love me." Ghost seemed to flirt with him a lot. He wondered why it didn't seem like a big deal to him-wouldn't most other guys his age find this strange?
The more he thought about it, he realized it wasn't just that he didn't mind it. He almost seemed to enjoy it, it made him feel happy. A strange kind of happy-he'd never felt this way before.
It was happy for the most part, but he could feel some sadness hidden behind it and he wasn't sure exactly why. He decided that aside from that, he really liked this new feeling.
Toast felt his cheeks grow hot as he caught himself thinking about it. He felt embarrassed, and a little bit ridiculous.
He decided he had better push those thoughts away instead. Dwelling on them would do no good. While he didn't think about the flirting anymore, he did continue to think about Ghost and the things they could do next time they hung out.
He fell asleep smiling.
Only one person actually answered my previous question so I decided to do it anyways lol
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Bye!-Bob
