Winter Winds
We thought snow was magic sent by the stars themselves. We collected the flakes on our tongues, letting them melt into sweet nothingness like sugar. We spread our wings and flew, leaving angel imprints and footprints trailing home.
But not all footprints lead back to warmth and safety. Some lead to dark places, places where monsters lurk in the shadows and little girls disappear. Some girls get lost in the labrynthine trees until everything looks white and endless. Some girls get ensnared by the forest's daring beauty.
Some girls hear the wind whispering to run.
Some girls don't listen.
