26 - act two

**The rest of this book will continue to be written in Jamilla Tate's POV after excellent points were brought up -- also, consistency is always a great thing. A lot of people did want a Josh chapter though, but granted that it feels really uncomfortable to write him in first person, I'll give him the prologue to Act 2 in third person.

TO CLARIFY: The tour mentioned is Trip for Concerts Spring 2014, not 2013. This is the one featuring NONONO and Hunter Hunted, not the New Politics one.

Don't forget to comment and vote! It's a lot of work for me to get these chapters out-- I'm really close to graduating high school, which means Wattpad takes a backseat to the rest of my priorities. :( Thanks for sticking with me!

||Joshua Dun|| Third Person ||

Joshua William Dun clenches a scrap piece of foolscap between his finger tips, folding the shredded paper over and sharpening its crease. He doesn't look up at the three other people in the room. They were sitting in the back room of Jenna Black and Tyler Joseph's frequented church. The room was slightly vacant-- the walls were a bare off-white shade, and there were only a few large tables scattered around with old posters and used hangers littering the surfaces. He was aware that Jenna and Tyler volunteered a lot together in the past, but in recent months, Tyler didn't nearly have enough time to participate with Jenna anymore. Their band, stylized as twenty one pilots, was finally starting to take off, and with their menial success so far, Tyler's church missed his presence on most days.

Josh lets out a tired sigh, pulling his legs closer to him as he shifts his weight on the single, beige couch. Jenna sits on his other side, Tyler and Mark Eshleman sharing the cold tiled floor as they went over scattered pages on the coffee table. Jenna glances over at him, concern knitting her eyebrows together as she observes Josh's exhausted state. Most days, Josh does great-- fantastic even. But with the looming deadline for their Spring tour plans greeting them fairly quickly, she noticed that he was far more agitated.

"These are okay, right, Jenna?" Tyler looks up excitedly, turning his attention to his blonde girlfriend who sits across the table from him. His eyes are wide and bright as he stares up at her, so Jenna shoots him a small smile and nods her head. It turns out to be just enough reassurance for Tyler to turn his attention away from her. He turns to Josh next, a prideful grin spreading almost immediately across his youthful face. Josh can't help the small quirk of his lips when he meets eyes with his best friend. "We're doing it, Josh." Tyler announces, recalling moments from the past when all they could talk about was playing the music they were passionate about.

"Well, technically, we did it last year when Fall Out Boy and Panic!--" Josh begins to say lightly, but the laughter emanating from between his lips refuses to allow him to finish speaking. Tyler rolls his eyes in response, resting his hands on his hips as he glares up at Josh.

"Look at these dates," Mark tells Josh, sliding the rough draft across the table to the drummer. Josh leans forward, glancing at the paper for a mere second before shrugging his shoulders. He puts on a small smile, but it isn't the response that Tyler wanted.

"Josh, I need an actual answer." Tyler presses, tapping the table with his index finger. Josh exhales loudly, finally reaching forward to grab the list of concert dates that they had been drafting. Josh skims over the dates, not paying much attention to the states until he reaches Ohio. He looks for one specific city, checking for any placement of the date.

        "What about Cleveland?" Josh asks.

Tyler sighs as if he almost expected the question. "We went last September," he attempts to reason, "we'll just go to Cincinnati." Josh flinches at that, leaning back against the sofa seat in defeat. He chews on his bottom lip as he glares at the paper, his mind elsewhere for a brief second.

"Please, Ty," Josh pleads, finally looking back up at his best friend. He didn't want to force Tyler's hand at this, but Josh can't help but feel slightly offended that his best friend would willingly leave a Cleveland date for their Spring Trip for Concerts tour.

Tyler stares at Josh for a second, turning his head to look over at Jenna and Mark, who both avoid meeting his gaze. Jenna shrugs her shoulders, holding her hands up in a surrendering motion as she turns away from him. Mark pretends to examine his cuticles. When he finally looks back at Josh, Josh recognizes the reluctant crease that always makes an appearance whenever he does something to bother Tyler. "Josh, if this is about--"

"It's not." Josh says immediately. "I just want to go to Cleveland."

"Really, Josh?" Tyler looks at Josh with pure disbelief. "Because you did the same thing last year, and you'll probably do it next year too."

"Tyler," Jenna says in a warning tone, finally interrupting when she senses the resentment in her boyfriend's voice.

"It's been what, eight years?" Tyler says. "Jenna, it's been eight years!" He turns to his girlfriend for support, but she only shakes her head and looks over at Josh worriedly.

"It's not about her." Josh repeats, clearing his throat when his voice cracks. "Tyler, it's not." He states, much clearer this time, when the brunette looks like he doesn't believe him.

"Yeah, Josh?" Tyler tilts his head to the side then, observing Josh for a brief second. "Well it seems like it."
