- Chapter 14 -

(Ailis POV)

Taking the note felt amazing. I felt like I had done something good that was going to help Emerson in the long run. She didn't need her heart broken by a buffoon. She deserved better than that and I was going to do everything in my power to pass my assignment this time. Finally, I felt like I was helping. I decided it was time for me to get some sleep. I searched the computer desk wondering if I really wanted to go through all of the effort to get up there. Shaking my head I knew I didn't want to exert that much energy.

Trudging along the carpet over to where the brunette slept I grabbed the sheet using them as an anchor to pull myself up. I snickered to myself tugging along until I reached the top. This would be a much more comfortable place to sleep. I curled my way into the sheet pulling the excess blanket over my body. Hopefully Emerson wouldn't wake up or startle in the middle of the night.I sure as hell didn't want to be a squashed leprechaun.

It didn't take me long before I was all curled up and cozy. I could imagine it now, the feeling on the edge of my body. Sleep was just around the corner and eventually the sweet sleep soothed my aching bones.

Morning came rather quickly, and I woke up to an annoyed Emerson as she plucked me from the sheets pulling me up into the air to stare at me. I felt my fists fly as I was still stuck in my dream. Why would she do something like that?

"'ey, watch whatcha doin'," I hated when she tried to stir me from my sleep. I needed that so I could grow nice and big and strong. I placed my hands on my hips as if I was the one reprimanding her. Unfortunately this wasn't the case.

"Why are you sleeping in my bed with me?" Emerson questions as she shakes me slightly. My whole body jiggles as I realize I probably need to hit the gym more, or at all. It's been a while since I had done anything to take care of myself.

"Cos look at dat mess av a bed oi 'av," I complain, trying my best to speak in a way she can easily understand me, but with an accent like this and the frustration I had with the situation, there was no helping this poor leprechaun.

Finally Emerson places me back down on the bed waiting for me to respond however I would like. I simply fluffed my jacket, tugging at the bottom to keep it down.

"Ey, can we talk?" I question, choosing my words carefully. Emersons' green eyes catch mine as she stares at me like I had just murdered something.

"About?" She mumbles as she pulled her tired body out of bed. Soon she places her arms out in each direction, stretching, as she lets out a low groan.

"Nathan," I found myself weary of saying his name. I knew she wasn't going to take this well but I needed her to believe me.

"Keep going," She rolls her hands through the air as if she is annoyed with me.

"Oi tink yer nade ter stay away from 'imself, yer man seems too perfect. oi mean who wud tell someone yer man loved dem so soon, even if yer man 'as technically alwus loved yer, why wud yer man say somethin' loike dat. 'tis ridiculous," I rambled, not sure she would understand a word I had said. The words falling out of my mouth faster than I can think about their meaning.

"Wait, he told me he loved me? When?" Emerson seemed confused, her eyebrows scrunching as she watches me carefully for my answer. I freeze for a moment looking at her wide face.

"Wi' de note," As soon as the words left my mouth, I slapped my hand across my lips. That was supposed to be a secret. It was too early in the morning for this crap. I found my brain stumbling over ideas and thoughts, I couldn't tell what was up and what was down.

"What note...Ailis?" Emerson spoke slowly, the confusion consuming her body like a tidal wave. I wanted to help her out, but it was something she didn't need to know. Unfortunately I ruined that by telling her in the first place.

"Ugh!" I groan taking a seat on the blankets, wrapping them around my body. "This is givin me a headache, can we talk about it later?" I question, using my best english voice so she could understand. Before I could even close my eyes, her fingers were pressing against my jacket once again and I was raised in the air at eye level. I scoffed, my shoulders slumping the best they could with her holding me so tightly.

"Tell me now," She snarls through gritted teeth. Shivers tremble through my body. I didn't want to make her this mad.

"Put... me ... down," I fumbled with the words as my body spun in circles. I couldn't tell her if I couldn't see her. I needed to know if I needed to dodge a hit or something. Regret began feeling my stomach for sneaking up to stay on her bed. None of this would have happened if I just stayed in my own bed.

She gently sets me down once again, I brush my jacket off smoothing out all the wrinkles.

"Luk, oi'm sorry, nathan lef a note on yisser car windshield, oi didn't want yer ter read it, since it said yer man 'ad alwus loved yer. but yer man signed it as yisser secret admirer an' oi didn't want yer ter freak oyt," I felt the word vomit escape my lips. I tried to speak as quickly as possible so she wouldn't understand. My accent thick and the words flowing like sewage, oughta do the trick to throw her off the trail.

"Ailis... you did what?" Emerson's voice trailed through the room. My body shakes with joy as I realized she didn't understand what I had said. Snickering to myself I watch as she processes the words, when suddenly her eyes light up before scrunching again in anger. "Nathan left a note on my windshield and you thought it was okay for you to just decide whether I wanted to read it or not?"

Crap! I smack myself on the forehead. I've been spending too much time with this girl if she can now understand what I was saying, even if I was talking quickly.

"No..." I mumbled trying to cover up my lie. My foot wiggles against the sheets as it bounces in nervousness.

"Well since you won't tell me the truth I'm just going over there and I'm going to figure it out myself!" Emerson shouts as her hands shoot down by her side. I shake my head vigorously as I try to do anything I can for her to just stay here, to listen to me.

"No, he isn't a good guy, you need to just leave him alone!" I stomp my foot on the bed, the sheets muffling any kind of sound that would have come from it.

"Nope, I'm on my way over there,"

(Emerson's POV)

I stood outside of Nathans door letting out a breath of air that I had remembered where it was from earlier. My body was shaking with anger from what Ailis had done. How dare he take a note that was written for me and just get rid of it without informing me. For his to sleep in my bed with me and treat me like that was an utter disgrace. I was so frustrated I couldn't even breath.

I reach forward forming a fist so I could knock on Nathans door. My heart was racing as I wait for his answer. I just needed to know if it was true. I needed to know if he really loved me. I wanted to make sure Ailis wasn't just pulling my leg. How would I do that thought without explaining to Nathan that I had a leprechaun?

When the door opens my heart stops. The handsome blond stands in front of me, his green eyes wide as he stares at me in shock.

"Emerson, what are you doing here?" He questions. My mind goes blank. What was I doing here? What was I thinking! I was going to run up to his door and ask him if he was in love with me? No. This was insane.

"Uh... do you want to hang out?" I mumble looking awkwardly at my feet as I wait for his response. I wasn't sure what he was going to think or say. My mind was racing as I was standing there like an idiot.

"I mean I have to go to work but I have a few minutes," He shrugs as he steps out of the house in his bright green shirt. The logo of the cafe he worked at on his right chest. I blush at how cute he looks in his uniform.

"Sweet," I mumble under my breath cursing myself for acting like such an idiot.

"Wanna go sit over here by the swing?" I nod my head as we head towards the large tree in his front yard. A tire swing hangs delicately from one of the largest branches. I took my seat on the swing as Nathan stands behind me pushing me gently on the swing. "So you miss me too much?"

"I guess, a few hours must have been too long," I mutter looking down at the grass. Now that I was here my anger was washing away and I wasn't sure what to say. I had showed up out of pure anger and that was just gone.

"You're telling me, I hate being away from you at all," I couldn't help but blush as the words leave those perfect lips of his. My stomach turns into butterflies as I carefully kick my legs back and forth.

"Are you trying to tell me something?" I flirt with Nathan as he continues to stand awkwardly behind me.

"No..." He mumbles shoving his hands in his pockets, kicking at the grass. "Hey, I really don't want to leave but I have to if I want to get to work at time," Nathan walks around the tree heading to where I can see him. He leans down grabbing the swing pulling it close to him as he leans a little further to kiss me. His lips morph into mine perfectly.

"I'll see you later," He pulls away as he turns to head towards his car.

I sit on the swing for a little bit before trudging to my very own car. Ailis was insane. How could he think someone as amazing and nice at Nathan wasn't good for me?

Once I'm back in my car I notice Ailis is awfully quiet. His arms folded over his chest as he pouts, searching the floor for anything. His eyes light up for a second as he finds a corner of a marshmallow he had dropped. Picking it up and plopping it in his mouth before he returns to the silent treatment.

"You don't get to be mad," I snarl at him, Placing the car in first and heading towards the road home. He shakes his head letting out a tiny scoff.

"Why not?" He mutters under his breath, his eyes furrowing even harder than before.

"Because you are in the wrong, and liars don't get to be mad," I pause for a moment, "Especially those who lie about decent people like Nathan. I have no clue why you hate him so much, because I haven't been this happy and if you assignment is about helping me, then this is exactly what I should be doing, spending my time with him," The words seemed to crush Ailis as he drops further into the chair.

I drive the rest of the way in silence, pulling into the dorm parking lot.
