♟Chapter 36♟
BELLA
"But how can we get out of this prison?" Clara asked biting her little to no nails.
I turned my gaze at Onyx who stood up from where he was sitting. I narrowed my eyes at him and raised an eyebrow. A small smirk formed on my lips.
"You're going to break your cell and then break ours." I know this idea would bring the attention of the guards towards us, but I wanted to see if this 'Alpha' had some brain or not. "I know you're strong and have big muscles underneath the hoodie you're wearing."
"What?! You can't be serious. This will only lead to deterioration of whatever you're planning."
"That's great, you've some brain of yours."
"Huh?" He breathed out in a tone of confusion.
"You didn't want to show your bravery here which I quite knew most of them would have done at your place."
Clara chuckled. "It isn't time to tease him, Bella. Let's do our work."
"I would be getting the attention of the guards." I pointed my thumb at Clara. "You would be using the spell to break the spell bounded around the gate of the cell."
"I would have done that if I would have known how to do it before." Clara rolled her eyes.
"You...don't know?" My plans were crashing down the river now.
She shook her head.
Onyx took out syringe-like stuff from his pocket. I glanced at it confusedly.
"What are--"
"These are the syringes that the 'authorities' used to give to this prison room to test all the creatures of it works on them or not. I would generally keep the one given to me in my pocket and take the syringe used by the person next to my cell." He turned his head to his right; indicating the person sleeping there. The cell I was in was the last compartment in the room. So, the only guy next 'door' was Onyx. He handed it over to me.
"What should I--"
"When you bring the attention of both the guards use one of the syringes below the creature's neck and another on his forehead."
"How--"
"As soon as you're done, they would start losing conscious. Take the key that is stuffed inside their armour's hook and open your lockup. Then pass it on to me and don't come out of the cell. When I open mine and slowly get out, follow me with masking any disturbance." Onyx finished telling his plan.
My eyes narrowed. "Were you planning it from before?"
He coughed. "I have been planning it since last fifteen years."
How long were all of them here? Were humans like me still being treated as a slave? What was going on?
My eyes widened. However, I didn't question him as my first priority was to escape and save others.
"How should we bring the attention of the guards without any disturbance?"
I and Onyx turned to look at Clara.
"Ok, I would perform something?"
"Something?" Onyx and I asked at the same time.
"Umm, fire extinguish?"
"No."
"Eflofta?"
"Uh?"
"It's a spell that 'authorities' found that I could do." I looked at her in confusion. "I can bring any type of physical feelings for a person like pain, tickling, pulling and pushing."
My face lit up. "That's awesome."
Clara closed her eyes. "Ready with processing our plan?" She asked.
"Yes."
I held my hands and walked slowly towards the back of iron gate and stared outside; towards the guards who were sitting and sleeping for sure.
Silence filled the cell. I tried to keep my worries away but then I couldn't.
"It has been a long time since I last used it," Clara muttered.
"You can do it, Clara." I heard Onyx whispering.
"You can do it, Clara," I whispered.
I watched the guards as they slowly got lifted in the air. I gasped lightly in surprise and awe but concentrated on what to do next.
They flew towards the place I was stand and landly lightly down.
Onyx hummed. "Now."
I plunged the syringe according to how Onyx asked me to do so and grabbed the keys from their hook-like structure which was attached to their armour.
I attempted to unlock the cage with each and every key.
"Urgh! It isn't working," I whispered in frustration.
As soon as I said those words, a click was heard.
"Yay!" I heard Clara squeal.
"Shh!"
"Sorry, just got excited." She nervously giggled. I passed the keys to Onyx who was standing in front of his gate.
He closed his eyes and breathed out. "I'm believing a mortal and doing this..." He inserted one key and unlocked it in the second go.
"Hey, but I know this realm better than you," I said a bit offended.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. Now follow me." He grumbled and opened his rusted gate slowly. I copied his actions and assisted Clara to come out as she got up from the floor she was sitting.
"Let's do this." We nodded our head in determination and began walking.
"Who informed you they found that bump?" I asked.
"Gamma." He whispered shortly.
"As in third in command?" Clara muttered.
I nodded my head and glimpsed around. The place wasn't that big so it was easy for us to find.
"Alpha, Alpha." A deep whisper was heard from my left.
"There he is. Come," Onyx muttered.
We carefully walked towards the cell and stood in front of him. I noticed the weird patterns on the wall which I remembered once creating them in my boredom.
It had been around a hundred years yet there were no changes. How was that possible?
The technology in the upper world was slowly changing almost to the level of destruction and here it was the same. They didn't even bother to bring about good changes.
Onyx inserted the key and slowly twisted it causing it to snap open; hitting the wall beside it with a bang. I stared around with my eyes widened. However, no one noticed except for the person beside the prison I was standing. The silhouette stirred but then slept again.
I sighed and looked at the prison in front of me. As if my legs had its own wish it started moving on it's an accord and before I knew it, I was standing in front of the huge bump which was different then the other small mounds.
"Here," I whispered and tapped on the mound with my feet. I didn't wait to notice anyone's expression and crouched down
"How didn't I notice that?" I heard someone whisper which I assumed it to be Onyx's Gamma.
I took a small stone from the dusty ground and hit on the mound as forcefully as I could. But nothing happened except for small crusts of dirt falling down. I got up and turned to call Onyx but before I could, he knelt down on his one knee and used his fist to break the mound formed.
A huge bronze lid covered the ground present there.
A huge smile lit up on my face. "That's it!" I exclaimed. "Open the bronze lid."
Onyx twisted and turned his entire body to open the lid. I knew it has been around four hundred years, but I still had a hope that this would work.
"Ahh!" He growled lightly before pulling it open. He flew to one side of the prison and hit the cage causing it to jiggle a little. He groaned and got up slowly from the ground.
"From here we can reach the forest," I muttered. "First, I would jump in since I feel like I remember the way and then you all would." I walked to the front of the muddy canal and put my one foot in and tested if the path is slurry. But I found it to be dry.
"It's better. Now let's go."
