The Intelligence Tests
A/N: Woo! I've been on a roll with these updates huh? I cannot wait to start writing angst! (Coming in the next part or two)
I remember reading that Leo was literally doing calculus when he was eight, but his intelligence literally goes unnoticed in the HoO and ToA books and it makes me mad, so this part is gonna be solely on his intelligence and how he skipped two grades. dis is gonna seem really unrealistic, 'kay?
P.S I kinda forgot to include this earlier, so in this chapter/part Leo is 5.
P.SS The picture is by NikkuPz, its from a meme :0 :) Don't ask.
Disclaimer: If you need me I'll be crying in a corner 'cuz I don't own my precious Leo Valdiva or his friends.

Annabeth's P.O.V:
Leo's life seemed really wacky, especially with Hera babysitting him and all. But it didn't seem too bad. He might be a little bent, but hopefully the rest of the crew could help fix him before he became broken.
Annabeth had felt bad. She thought she was good at analyzing people, but she had never really considered Leo. She tried to tell herself it wasn't her fault, that everyone was too busy with the war, planning, and stopping attacks. Before she could ponder any further, the next memory played.
Esperanza appeared to be in a meeting with one of Leo's teachers. She looked exasperated and impatient.
The teacher spoke. "Miss Esperanza, I'm sorry for taking so much of your time, but this is serious. Leo has issues with focusing in class, and has a lot of trouble completing his writing assignments. I suggest an IQ test be done to see if he needs to repeat a grade or recieve extra help."
Esperanza sighed. "Ok, fine! Just make him do the test during a free period. But let me remind you that my boy is one the brightest kids you'll ever see."
Before the teacher (Ms. Brown) could reply, Esperanza walked out of the room, where a five year old Leo sat, tapping his foot and humming to a song while building a helicopter from pipe cleaners.
"Come on chiquito, we're going home." Leo's mom said as she took his hand.
Annabeth looked worriedly at Leo. She couldn't stand it when people had to go through intelligence tests just to prove they were smart. She tried to stop herself from interrupting, but her curiosity got the better of her.
"How did it go Leo? What did you get on the IQ test? What about the other tests?"
By now, everyone was staring at her. Percy was facepalming and Leo sighed.
"Wise Girl, why don't you wait and see?" Percy answered for Leo, who rolled his eyes.
The next day, Leo hopped up on a high top table with a school computer while Miss Brown pulled up a series of tests, which he managed to complete just as the bell rang.
"Well then, off you go young man, the results will be back by the end of this week. Tell your mother that!" Miss Brown said as Leo hopped down from the chair.
"See ya Miss Brown!" He replied, and snatched his Bob the Builder backpack and ran out the door.
The next week
Esperanza walked in, hiding a small smile on her face.
"so, Miss Brown," She said triumphantly, "we meet again."
"Yes. I believe that Leo has done surprisingly well in all subjects, especially cognitive thinking, math, and puzzles. His score is well above that of the average 10th grader."
Esperanza feigned genuine shock. "Really? But I thought he was 'behind in class'?"
Miss Brown sighed, defeated. "apparently not. There's one more thing though. Leo Valdez has shown extraordinary ability in the IQ test. He has scored well above the 98th percentile. I believe you and I will meet more often to set up his entry in MENSA."
Annabeth looked shocked. The whole crew did too, even Nico, who seemed genuinely surprised. Hazel, Piper, and Jason were staring hard at him, while Frank's mouth hung open. Her Seaweed Brain, however, was the only one who didn't seem shocked.
"Who the Hades is MENSA?" Percy asked.
Annabeth facepalmed.
"Its an organization for people who score over the 98th percentile on IQ tests, and as far as anyone's concerned, a group of the smartest people in the world." She said with a hint of jealousy in her voice.
Percy finally got it, and looked at Leo.
"Dude, why didn't you say you were smart? Heck, you're smarter than Wise Girl over here!" He was practically screaming.
"It didn't occur to me to tell you guys, it's not a huge deal, and I am a son of Hephaestus, so, yeah. " He answered sheepishly.
"Be prepared, we're gonna play a game of Pester the Genius later."
Jason snickered.
A few years later
Leo was 7 and in 4th grade on account of his academic success.
"Hey Nerd!" A burly boy came up to him.
"What do you want Jack?" Leo said, sarcasm dripping his voice.
"If you're so smart, I demand you do my homework." He said stepping closer to Leo so he was looming over him.
"No."
"It was NOT a question, Valdez. Is that how your mom raised you to be?"
Leo snapped his head back, looking Jack in the eye.
"Don't you dare talk about her that way!" He screamed, glaring daggers at a boy almost 7 inches taller than him.
"What are you gonna do about it, huh pipsqueak?"
Leo growled and as Jack tried to punch him, he ducked and kicked him in the shins. Hard."
Jack winced and hopped on one foot, watching Leo run away.
"That was cool," Percy mused.
Annabeth facepalmed.
"Did you have a lot of bullies Leo?" Annabeth asked.
"Oh yeah, TONS." he said.
