Leo sat down heavily and began to stuff his face with the speed of a hungry wolf.
"Whoa there, Leo," Piper said, raising her hand. "Slow down. You're gonna choke."
Leo looked up with a mouthful of food. "Mm mm, I camph swow duwn," she said through his fish taco. "Roph and Tum rr waitin nm me."
"Swallow your food, Leo Valdez," Hazel said sternly. "Then try that again."
Leo swallowed with difficulty. "I said, I can't slow down. Ross and Tom are waiting on me."
"Ross and Tom?" Frank asked.
"Yes! Ross and Tom! Did you not hear me the first time?!" Leo said, beginning to stuff his face with more food.
"Slow down!" Piper told him, but he ignored her.
"I got him into The Hunters of Lawrence series," Annabeth explained.
Percy made a silent Oh, as understanding dawned on his face. "You did, did you?" He asked, turning to look at her. "I remember when you first read that. You were so emot—" he stopped when he saw Annabeth's glare. "I mean, into those."
"And I still am, Seaweed Brain!" She said, smacking him on the head.
"Right, sorry!" He said, raising his hand to avoid getting hit again. "I'm glad you liked them. I never really got into them though."
Leo stopped eating. "You mean you read the first book?"
Percy shrugged. "Yeah, it just didn't appeal to me all that much."
Leo have him a death glare. "You mean to tell me that you read the first book and you didn't read the second?"
"Nah," Percy said, either ignoring the fact that Leo was smoking or just not caring.
Leo turned to Annabeth. "And you're still dating him?"
"Well, yeah," Annabeth sighed. "I loved him too much to break up with him over that. But I did consider it," she added, ruffling his hair.
"What?" Percy said, looking at her. All she gave him was a playful smile.
"How did you find time to read that whole thing?" Hazel asked.
Leo swallowed another bite of fish taco. "None of you had time to do anything wih me, so I read a book instead."
"Oh," Hazel said, looking slightly guilty. But Leo wasn't paying attention. He shoved the last bit of taco in his mouth and wiped his hands on his shirt.
"I'm done. Can I go read now?" He looked at Annabeth.
"Never thought I'd hear those words coming out of his mouth," Jason muttered to Piper, who giggled.
Annabeth grinned and stood up. "Wait until you read the first three chapters. So much happens, it's mind blowing! Their father—"
Leo covered his ears. "La la la la not listening! No spoilers please!"
"Sorry," Annabeth apologized. "I'm just excited. Ross almost—"
"Shush!" Leo said, plugging his ears again.
"Ugh, come on already!" Annabeth said, racing out the door with Leo hot on her tail.
Back in her room, Annabeth grabbed four books off the shelves. "Here's book two, three, four, and five."
Leo grinned like a little boy who had just been given a free puppy. "Thanks!" He said snatching up the books and heading for the door.
"Oh, and Leo," Annabeth called as he was about to walk out. He looked back at her. "Don't be up too late. We need our Repair Boy."
Leo's only response was a mischievous grin.
