Departure once More....
Calypso had been convincing Leo to let her tag along on the way to Olympus for the Final Showdown Battle. She stabbed her celestial bronze sword into one dummy and flung it at the second. Her swordsman play was gettin' GOOD! She wiped some sweat off her brow and ran up to Leo. She panted and strapped her sword to her back and put her hands on her knees to balance herself.
Calypso said, "Leo Valdez, I have successfully completed the task you have assigned in this art of demigod ass-kickery." Leo sat motionless staring off into the distance squinting even though it was a brisk afternoon and the Sun wasn't even in his eyes. He said in an old, raspy voice, "Yes, yes...Ah ha! You have come far young grasshopper, but not far enough. To be worthy of the master, you must defeat the master."
Leo stood and faced Calypso and his battlehammer flew to hand and it caught on fire. He grinned and returned to his normal voice. "Yeah, we gon' battle, but I'll go easy on you, cuz it's your first ti--" Before Leo could complete his sentence, Calypso tripped him and held the blade to his neck. She said, "No, master. The grasshopper can never know how far he can leap if he isn't tested." Leo said, "In English please?" Calypso translated. "Fine. Pretty much in English....no mercy!"
Leo did and flip and landed on his feet, righting himself. His hammer flew from the floor to his hand. Calypso yelled a battle cry and they battled. Leo wasn't gonna lie. She was good. Her fighting techniques were impeccable yet she fought in a frenzy like a sack of angry cats. Leo had to try a little harder to keep up. The battle ended as a stalemate. The others had been watching the whole thing. Jason bowed at Calypso. "Good work, wise grasshopper." Annabeth looked at him uncertainty. "Yeah...no. Uh uh. It doesn't work when you say it Jason. Leo does it better."
Frank laughed and took a bite outta his apple. That guy was somehow ALWAYS EATING AN APPLE!!! "We have more important things to think about." Percy stepped forward. "How so?" Annabeth spoke up. "For one, two Dark Gods and 3 Titans have attacked us so far." Jason added, "All our battles have been Titan related. Not complaining, but, Giants are much, MUCH stronger than Titans. Why would Gaea send the weaklings after us?"
Leo answered ,"Simple. She thinks we are weak. She thinks that the Titans could handle us, and if they could, why waste the more powerful Giants?"
Frank countered, "Or the Titans could be the appetizer for the main course to come."
"Appetizers? Main course? I'm talking battle not brunch, Frank," Percy said as he took a bite outta his blue croissant.
Hazel pointed at the croissant in Percy's hand and put her hands on her hips. "I wouldn't be talking, Jackson." Percy pointed at Riptide in his other hand.
"Dis you just save us all from Titan Kronos? Huh...I guess we are even."
Hazel clenched her fist and some jewels popped from the ground.
Annabeth noticed. "Aye, stop that. Now isn't the time to be at each others' necks. We can only take down Gaea if we work together. C'mon. We are in Manhattan. The battle with Kronos was 2 weeks ago. Percy, we are thankful, but no need to remind us right now."
"C'mon Wise Girl, call me Seaweed Brain. You know you want to." Percy said with a smile.
"Let's survive today first Seaweed Brain. The portal to Olympus lies just beyond the Empire State Building." She pointed at the spiraling portal. Some kids had seen Leo and Calypso battle. One said, "Whoa, you aren't gonna battle against the Head Mistress are you?"
Leo nodded. "She isn't meant to be Queen over anything but mud and sludge, kid. Don't call her that, call her Queen Dirt Face." The mid covered his mouth. "That's a capitol class A offense! Ima tell Porphyrion!" The kid ran into his house.
Jason rubbed his temples. "No! Our element of surprise!" Leo shrugged. "I have a point. And anyway, they probably already know we are here. Enchiladas is a giant who can see into the future. He knows we are on our way." Percy asked, "Enchiladas? That reminds me of Grover...Anyway, Yes, Enceladus probably informed the rest, so why wait?"
Percy Jackson unsheated Roughtide and ran toward the portal. The others followed. Soon, they were in Olympus. They walked in front of the Palace. Two Cyclopes guards stood on either side of the door. One muttered, "Did you hear about Tartarus consuming Enceladus when he was mad?" Turns out he didn't inform them. Good. They still had the element of surprise.
The others heard the Cyclope. Leo whispered, "The element of surprise..." Annabeth finished, "remains in our favor." She smiled. Percy took out a vital of Greek Fire and tossed it at the main door. KABOOM! Jason nodded with a grin. "Let's go!" He flew in. The others followed not far behind.
throne room meanwhile....
A cyclope ran in flustered. He looked at Tartarus. "Your Majesty, the demigod scum are attacking. Shall I get Porphyrion and his troops?" King Tartarus replied, "Yes, but we need leverage. Kronos managed to capture Calypso in a camp full off powerful demigods. No one could free her once Kronos got a hold of her. Prepare Porphyrion for battle, but the 12 Titans...I want 6 at Half-Blood and 6 at Jupiter."
"Understood Sir!" The cyclope ran outta the room and another explosion took place as Greek Fire poured into the throne room. King Tartarus rose from his throne and grabbed his humongous sword. He walked outside and saw the explosion. The demigods had nearly all the Cyclope forces obliterated. Porphyrion and his brothers came on the science. Tartarus pushed his hand Clinton his chest and pulled out Enceladus.
"Join your brethren, and do not fail me again, my son." Tartarus ran to battle as Enceladus nodded. Porphyrion and Jason battled. Jason flew over the giant's head and formed a wall of storm clouds around him. He clapped and blasted lightning at Porphyrion. Porphyrion dodged but Jason stabbed him in the chest and dragged the blade all the way down to his leg. An ocean of Ichor flooded.
The battle was a hard, chaotic stalemate. Then one Cyclope said, "In position my Lord."
Tartarus yelled, "HALT! Enough folley demigods. The relics," he held out his hand, "now. Give them to me so I can end the lineage of Olympus and the Gods for ALL time, Greek And Roman." Leo wiped the sweat from his face and leaned on his battleforge like a cane and took some breaths. He hefted his hammer into his arms. "We can take you. Why would we do that?"
Tartarus answered, "Oh...if you were wise, you would..." Calypso asked, "And If we refuse....?" To screens materialized in mid air floating in front of the Dark King. One showed Camp Half-Blood and the other showed Camp Jupiter. Kronos and 5 of his brothers stood tall. He could destroy Camp Half-Blood in one swipe. Krios, Iaepatus and 4 of their brothers stood at Camp Jupiter. They could do the same."
Calypso continued, "Some video, so what. If we refuse?" Tartarus replied coldly, "Well then....we could ALL watch both camps instantly be destroyed. Everything you worked for at your Camps. Jason becoming praetor...I could list forever the achievements you have made at your Camps. We could ALL watch your friends instantly perish..together.
Percy dropped his Trident. "Man, if this decision dooms the fate of the Gods on Olympus, so be it. But I will never watch my friends die. Not when they need me."
Tartarus grinned. "Your fatal flaw. You'd rather end the lineage of Gods on Olympus then watch your friends die?"
Piper stepped forward. "Any of us would."
Jason agreed. "If my decision dooms the fate of Olympians ruling on Olympus for all time, fine. But I will never foresake my friends. My human allies. I am a praetor and child of Rome. All of Camp Jupiter are my people. I won't watch them die. Not now. Not ever."
He tossed the Master Bolt of Zeus into Tartarus's palm. He grinned evily.
Leo looked at Jason with wide eyes. There was a moment of silence. "Wow, man. That was deep. If this was a movie, the camera would be zooming in on your face as you said that speech while anonymous heroic music plays in the background."
Frank said, "You just cheapened the moment." He threw the Roman Eagle Standard Staff into his palm. Annabeth tossed her sword. Then Roughtide, then enchanted spatha, then Katoptris. Leo looked at his battlehammer. "Which is more important?" Leo stared at Tartarus. "No question, my camp. My family." He threw the hammer into Tartarus's hand.
Tartarus said, "Okay Kronos, abandon the camps. They have given me what I want. Abort mission." The Titans left the camps. Leo whispered, "Guys, Uncle Leo has one more plan..." Leo pulled the Leosuit disk out of his magic toolbelt and pressed it to his chest. It formed around his body, custom fitting to his dimensions. Leo activated the rocket boots and flew at Tartarus. His fist caught on fire as he flew at the God.
"FOR OLYMPUS!!!!" Leo's fist and Tartarus's fist connected. Leo grabbed his hammer.
"This will be...our Last Stand...
He flew at the Dark King once more.
