Marina and Talula have been best friends as far back as they can remember. They've literally done almost everything together, and anything they haven't done waits unchecked on their co-op bucket list. So when Marina is attacked by a crazed sorceress and sent to another world, you can bet that Talula was right by her side, maybe screaming something slightly inappropriate for the situation at hand. With the help of a mysterious boy and his particularly "horsey" friend, the duo must make their way back home by defeating the sorceress and restoring peace to the fantasy world.

The humor and sheer relatability of these two characters is great, and is what put it on this list. I originally started reading this as a member of a book club, and although I haven't finished it just yet, I certainly will be (when time gives me the chance... how I hate reality sometimes...)
