WARNINGS!!!: due to this having all there you know it's going to be an emotional rollercoaster ride! this oneshot contains some triggering stuff! this has depictions of someone being in pain and sick and nearly passing away and the fictional illness of Hanahaki so you have been warned if any of this makes you uncomfortable then please don't read.

Plot: it's a Hanahaki plot so yeah this is going to get emotional! but the requester never got back on how they want it to end so there will be two endings!

info: Hanahaki Disease (花吐き病 (Japanese); 하나하키병 (Korean); 花吐病 (Chinese)) is a fictional disease where the victim of unrequited or one-sided love begins to vomit or cough up the petals and flowers of a flowering plant growing in their lungs, which will eventually grow large enough to render breathing impossible if left untreated. There is no set time for how long this disease lasts but it may last from 2 weeks to 3 months, in rare cases up to 18 months, until the victim dies unless the feelings are returned or the plants are surgically removed. There is also no set flower that blossoms in the lungs but it may be the enamoured's favourite flower or favourite colour. Hanahaki can be cured through surgical removal of the plants' roots, but this excision also has the effect of removing the patient's capacity for romantic love. It may also erase the patient's feelings for and memories of the enamoured. It can also be cured by the reciprocation of the victim's feelings. These feelings cannot be feelings of friendship but must be feelings of genuine love. The victim may also develop Hanahaki Disease if they believe the love to be one-sided but once the enamoured returns the feelings, they will be cured. In some literature other symptoms can be fever, uncontrollable shaking, loss of appetite, low body temperature, and hallucinations. Even after curing, with or without surgery, there can be irreversible damage to the lungs and, although very rare, in some cases the disease cannot be cured.

-your POV-

you hum a soft tune as you work in the garden of Nezha's temple, you are one of the many lotus maidens that tend to the lotus gardens of the lotus palace, you work mostly around Nezha's temple where he guards one of the most sacred of treasures, the map to the fire of samadhi, you personally only knew of it because of the one lotus bed inside the temple that only you and two others could tend to by orders of Nezha, you and the two others were the only ones Nezha trusted to come inside the palace and not try to go anywhere near the map, the three of you had even called yourselves the secret lotus maidens because you three were the only ones aloud to enter the temple, which is what you three where doing right now, Laufey and Mei Lee where your only friends amongst the 15 lotus maidens, Laufey had long brown hair tied up into a pony tail with two long strips of hair lose from the pony tail that framed her face and bright kind blue eyes, she was more loud spoken and confident of the maiden and was often the one to go picking fights with others two defend you and Mei Lee, Laufey also had a very short temper so you and Mei Lee often had to step in and cool her off, Mei Lee is a water demon of sort and has long dark brown hair, long enough that her hair would drag on the ground a bit if it wasn't tied up into an elaborate braid, she had fins instead of ears but has the most sharp of hearing and the deepest sea green eyes, she was honestly very pretty she also had a long scaly tail and scales littered her skin randomly, she was always the calmest of the three of you, she always had a plan and new way more about plants then you or Laufey and was the most respected of the maidens, you honestly felt a little jealous of her beauty but you wouldn't say it aloud as Mei Lee had honestly a big enough ego as is.

you chuckle to yourself you should probably focus on work as the gardens had been in ruins since the Monkey king destroyed the place, Laufey was busy at the back garden while Mei Lee took care of the ones at the front of the temple while you got the two tend the two in the middle of the temple, you loved working here, it was peaceful and also you got the chance to see and talk to Nezha, Nezha isn't very talkative when he's in the temple but he always seemed to enjoy when you, Laufey and Mei Lee would talk to him as you all worked away in the gardens, today he seemed a bit more lost in thought as he wouldn't reply to Mei Lee of Laufey when they talked to him, you actually had been of recently avoiding talking to him, you had started to develop a crush on the lotus prince in the recent years, he's so kind and polite but also quite stubborn and determined, when you first started to work here and more closely along side the prince you he noticed that he would rarely take brakes so you had begun to bring food for him to eat when you would come to tend to the plants, then he would start to talk more and more with you about a variety of things and you both started to get more close, that's when it happend, you had been tending to the lotus garden when Mei Lee had begun to talk with Nezha, you didn't know why at the time but you had gotten annoyed at her, she was being overly flirty and joking with the prince and you started to get annoyed but also sad, he was laughing back at some of her jokes and you felt like you didn't have a right to be in the room while they talked, it was frustrating so you hurriedly finished your task before heading to the back to help Laufey with a pout, Laufey had taken a single look at the pout and told you that you were jealous, it just made you more frustrated, but you know why you were sad then, Mei Lee is gorgeous and even a higher states then you as she is the daughter of a noble before being a lotus maiden meaning that between you and her she had more of a chance of ending up with Nezha, that night when you had returned home was when it began, the coughs, the sore chest, the petals, you know of Hanahaki, your mother had it and even some of your aunts and uncles, but most either got it removed or confessed, except for one or two who died in silence to afraid to confess, you had panicked at first, you couldn't confess, that hurt Mei Lee! but you couldn't get it removed as you could not afford to tell you family who were all firm believers that you should confess before going for the surgery but you didn't want to over step boundaries and hurt Mei Lee your closest friend, besides Laufey, so what where you to do! avoid him, that's what you did, it lessened the affects and made sure that it take longer to take hold of your lungs.

so that brings you to now, five weeks into Hanahaki and working hard at cleaning and tending the lotus gardens while Mei Lee tried to cheer up Nezha or Laufey trying to get Nezha to talk back to her all while you sit in silence trying not to cough up more petals as you breath through heavy lungs, you hear Nezha let out a loud and annoyed sigh before standing up "Laufey, Mei Lee can you both follow me out side?" Nezha calls out to the two, both Mei Lee and Laufey nod and follow behind Nezha before they both turn to look at you with a concerned look while you stair at the two in confusion, what did Nezha want with those two? why only them?! you where getting worried now, finishing up with cleaning the lotus garden you stand to head out yourself and explain that you were done when you felt it, the familiar itch of an on coming attack, collapsing to your knees you begin to cough and hack up petals and flowers, lotus flowers Nezha's favourite, the blooms were covered in spit mixed with blood from them roughly forcing there way out of your lungs and out of your body, tears pricking your eyes as you try to stay even remotely conscious, this was a bad attack, normally it be just petals that come out but now a whole flower, that was bad, it meant you were close to the point of no return, close to taking your last breath, you felt like a coward, to keep quiet and die silently all because you didn't want to tell someone who probably didn't even like you back that you loved them! it was pathetic, you thought as you continue to cough away on the floor of the temple when you hear a gasp, looking up you could barely see Nezha had come back inside, Laufey and Mei Lee stood by the doorway just behind Nezha.

Nezha moves forward and grips your shoulder gently keeping you sat up "Y/N! what's going on?! why are you coughing up lotus flowers?!?!" you hear Nezha say as he looks you over, you were pale and feeling colder by the second, you weakly look up at him and then back at Laufey and Mei Lee in the doorway with teary eyes and a weak voice from coughing you mumble out "i have... i have Hanahaki" before looking down and away from Nezha in embarrassment "what?!" Nezha says softly in worry and confusion, you keep your eyes trained on the floor as you hear Laufey and Mei Lee walk over in worry but it sounds muddled and distant, you look up only for black spots and blurry images to meet your eyes as your mind begins to spin, you feel like your suddenly falling when you finally black out.

-Nezha's POV-

Laufey and Mei Lee head over to me and y/n with worried looks "what's happening to y/n?" Mei Lee asks "they said they have Hanahaki, what is that?!" i ask worriedly unsure what this illness is that has affected y/n, suddenly i feel weight lean onto my chest and look down to see y/n has slumped forward unconscious, i look back at the couple in worry "what is happening!" i demand "it's Hanahaki they said? Hanahaki Disease where the victim of unrequited or one-sided love begins to vomit or cough up the petals and flowers of a flowering plant growing in their lungs?!" Mei Lee exclaims with fear in her eyes "yeah, it means she and her family and any future family members have it... it's curable Nezha don't worry! we just need to find the person they love and make them tell their feelings to their love and hope that they feel the same way as y/n does" Laufey explains as i keep an eye on y/n "their breathing has slowed and they feel cold" i say "oh stars how long have they let this continue on for!?" Laufey mumbles "let's get them somewhere to lay down to rest and hope that they wake up soon" Mei Lee suggests, i nod and pick y/n up in my arms "you both are coming with me" i order and lead the way out of the temple with Mei Lee and Laufey following behind me.

-your POV-

letting out a small whine of pain you slowly shift and open your eyes to find yourself in a room you've never seen before, you start to sit yourself up to look around when you feel an arm behind your back help you sit up "y/n, how do you feel?" Nezha asks as you take in the room while he helps you sit up "Nezha? where?" you mumble out with a weak voice and a few small coughs "my room" he mumbles a little blush of embarrassment dusting his cheeks "oh... why" you wheeze out "it was the first place i thought of but that isn't important right now... Laufey and Mei Lee explained what Hanahaki is... why didn't you tell anyone?" Nezha asks with a look of worry and disappointment "i didn't want to cause problems, i know the person doesn't like me back and that if i told my family they would force me to tell them even though i know they like someone else" you explain with your head down, Nezha let's out a sigh "Laufey says that they think you have feelings for me" Nezha says making your head snap to look up at him "wha?" you wheeze out before going into a coughing fit, Nezha moves closer to you to rub at your back to try and ease the pain, once the coughing calms down you look back up at him "how did she" you ask only to cut yourself off, the day you walked over to her with a pout "oh..." you mumble a blush dusting your cheeks "Laufey's correct" you nod looking away from him "i don't like someone else y/n" Nezha states making you look up at him again "what? but... i thought you... what?" you stammer out as a small amused smile form on Nezha's face "if you thought i liked Mei Lee or Laufey then i have to tell you the two are married to each other, have been married since before either of them worked as lotus maidens" Nezha explains "oh... wait that explains a lot..." you mumble out in embarrassment "though you are right i do love someone" Nezha says making you look back at him "who" you mumble out before Nezha leans down and pecks your forehead "you, your kindness and care for me, you talking to me and keeping me company while i guarded the map, i fell in love with you, when i saw you so weak and frail today terrified me, i thought i was going to lose you" Nezha confesses, you smile as a blush dusts your cheeks as happy tears brim your eyes "i love you to Nezha, i'm sorry i worried you so much today!" you say with a soft laugh "it is ok, may i kiss you?" Nezha asks, you nod and he gives you a soft kiss to your lips, as you both brake apart your lungs begin to feel lighter and it become easier to breath, the both of you spend the rest of the evening in each others arms.

so... i'm back, i had a friend come visiting from another state so i had been taking a brake to hang out with them and enjoy their company because i don't get to see them often so yeah! they've only just gone back to their home so i'm just now getting back into the swing of this! i hope you all enjoyed this oneshot! i think this one's a little shorter then the others but there is much else i could add to it, so enjoy this short sweet one and see you all in the next one bu bye!
