Chapter 42
The idea of having to figure everything out together made it easy to move forward, now that we know we're on the same page. We took that Sunday, laying in our hotel bed, to discuss everything; what we both wanted and what we thought would work for us as a team.
Never in my life did I think that I would be planning something with someone for the future. For the longest time, I thought it would just be me, doing things for me and me alone. That's why it was so easy to go with the idea of traveling and seeing the world. I didn't really think I would go to college and build a life for myself or even be with someone. I thought I would take my Grandma's money and use it for all my travels, just like she wanted me to. God knows, I had enough to go anywhere I pleased on her dime. She made sure of that; That I could make it on my own.
But I've realized that falling in love and being with that person is far better than seeing the world alone. And while I'm sad to see the travel dream die for a little while, I know the world outside of him can wait. Because right now, he is my world. He's the reason my universe keeps on turning and I know the stars always shine brighter when we're together.
It's been two weeks already since our weekend in that hotel room and it has been two weeks of ups and downs, arguments and laughter and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything. Harry allowed for me to move into his apartment for the time being and he decided to stay at Columbia until at least the first semester is over with.
Settling into his little apartment wasn't as easy as Harry thought it would be for me. We thought it would be simple, because of the way it was at his mom's house. I fit right into their family so easily and lived there as if I had belonged. But Harry's apartment is much smaller, it's his place, and I've felt a lot of the time like I was invading the space that he made his own. Adjusting to this, for both of us, has been difficult at times and has become easy to argue about.
I've had to tour this new city more by myself than with Harry because of school. He made me promise not to see Central Park without him, and even after two weeks, we haven't made it there yet. I've done most of the tourist stuff. Went to the Statue of Liberty, the New York Public Library, Empire State Building, Top of the Rock and have walked up and down 5th Avenue about twenty times already. The list goes on, the number of things I've done without him, but I'm loving New York still and can't see myself wanting to leave any time soon.
Being here is better than anywhere else I've been so far. And that's clearly not because I'm with Harry, because he has been in classes or stuck at the studio after hours and studying much more than I thought he would be. And as much as I have been content seeing this city and experiencing it without him, I really do wish that I could be doing more of it with him.
"I think we should skip open mic tonight so I can take you out for dinner," Harry says after he's walked in the door and kissed me hello. His fingers graze the skin on my cheek as he tucks my hair behind my ear, leaning down to kiss me again. "I hope you haven't eaten yet."
"I didn't eat," I answer. My heart swells and my insides erupt at the thought that he just wants to be with me tonight. Open mic nights have been fun the last couple of weekends, I love watching Harry on stage, but I'm still not sure I fit in with his friends and I have felt more awkward than I do accepted. "I was waiting for you, you know that."
So far, I've only been out with his friends a couple of times, each at open mic nights at the coffeehouse. Only two of his friends that I met actually seem to like me and surprisingly, neither of those people is Elizabeth. I haven't mentioned my feelings about this to Harry just yet, because there could be a chance I'm just being paranoid because I was nervous to be around them. I knew they knew who I was and I was afraid of how they'd perceive me after listening to the songs he sang about me on stage. He put me on a pedestal and I didn't want them to think I don't belong there.
I felt like it was important for his friends to like me. I wanted to fit in with them like he did. When in the reality of it, I was still very much an outsider peeking in, with curious eyes on me, making me feel so much more out of place than I wanted to be.
"Perfect! I've wanted to take you on a date," he smiles. "Go on any adventures today?" I follow him to the bedroom, where he flings his t-shirt off and pulls a new one out of the closet. A black button down. Maybe I should change too? Where is he planning on taking me to dinner?
"No, I stayed in today," I tell him, sitting on the bed. "My feet have been killing me from walking so much lately."
"My little tourist," he laughs and then I watch his face fall. "You're not getting bored of New York already, are you?"
His worried expression makes me smile. I know he's been afraid that I will leave once I'm done with this city, and with each day that passes and the longer I've been here, the more the anxiousness is in his eyes. "I promise you, I'm not going anywhere," I tell him, standing before him and wrapping my arms around his neck. "Even if I was sick of New York, I wouldn't be sick of you."
"You say that now," he says with seriousness, placing his lips against my forehead and hugging me tighter. "I just don't think I could handle losing you again."

"I'm sorry I haven't been able to take you out on a date before now, or even do much with you since you got here," Harry says, taking a drink of his water. He took me to a sushi restaurant not too far from campus, where we enjoyed watching the chef make our food in front of us. It was the first time I've ever experienced this type of meal, and it has definitely been an entertaining evening.
"It's fine, Harry," I assure him. "I know you're busy with school, and what's important right now."
"But you're important too," he gushes. "I don't want you to forget that."
"And I don't forget that," I smile. "You don't need to apologize for doing what you came here to do." I lean into him and kiss him gently on the lips, which makes him smile at me. "I know you're worried I'm going to leave, but I promise I'm not going anywhere this time. I found where I'm supposed to be, and that's with you. So if that means I have to share you with school, I'm okay with that."
"How did I ever get so lucky to call you mine?"
"I was always yours, Harry," I smile, my eyes flicking back and forth between his. "Even when I wasn't." I place my hand on his thigh, making his eyes instantly dilate. He leans in and crashes his lips against mine, apparently not caring we're in the middle of a restaurant with people sitting next to us.
There's something so euphoric about this public display of affection that intoxicates me. For two people who were meant to hide all forms of emotion to the outside world, kissing him here, showing our passion towards each other outside walls that were our own, makes me weaker in the knees for him like never before.
Behind Harry comes the sound of someone clearing their throat, making my eyes open and pull away slightly to look over his shoulder. "Would you like desert?" the waiter asks, uncomfortably.
"Just the bill, please," Harry says more into my ear than to the waiter. "I've got my desert right here."
The check can't come fast enough, but when it does, Harry throws his money on the table and grabs my hand to pull me up from my chair. I don't think we're going to make it out of this restaurant before he kisses me again, the grin on his face suggests how eager he is.
The one thing I have always loved about Harry is how unafraid he's been with showing me how much he wants me. His confidence was something that turned me on and made me want him even more and I don't think that'll ever change. Especially in this moment, because his boldness is more out in the open than it ever has been before, as the second we push open the door, his lips are on mine and my back is against the brick of the building.
"I love it when you say you're mine," he whispers, his lips connecting with my neck. "It does something to me." He stretches our arms out above our heads, pinning me harder to the wall. I can feel how hard he is already, pressed against me. It makes me wrap one of my legs around his body to feel closer to him.
A low groan falls from his lips from the contact, as he crashes them against mine again. But all too soon, he is pulling me away from the wall, walking a few long strides in the direction of his car before he pulls me into him again with force.
The anticipation builds the closer we get to his car, both of us unable to keep our hands off each other the whole way there. I've never had a more heated moment in all my life, never wanted someone as much as I do him right now. My body is craving him in ways I never knew existed, too many times this week, we went to bed without touching each other.
He pushes me back against the car and it's the only reason I know we've finally made it here. I hear the doors unlock and sigh at the loss of his lips on mine until he opens the back door and gently pushes me inside.
Leaning against the far door, I don't waste time pulling off my jeans as he undoes the zipper to his next to me in the back seat. I help him bring his jeans to his knees and maneuver myself to sit on him, my legs wrapped on either side of his thighs. I lower myself onto him with ease and I watch his head fall back against the seat, his mouth slightly falling open.
A moan falls from my lips, the feeling of him being inside of me, the wanting and the waiting and the hunger for each other all rolled into this moment of lust. We crave each other in the most lustful of ways yet it's passion and love and desire all mixed together making each and every time more exhilarating. More stimulating. More heavenly. He always makes me want more of him.
"You're so sexy, Jayde," he pants into my ear, gripping onto my hair. His hips pump up and down to meet mine, our breathing in sync. The world around us faded within foggy windows, with nothing but his whispers and the sounds of pleasure. "You feel so good. So fucking good wrapped around my cock. Fuck."
His words tip me over the edge, along with his fingers now moving in circles on my clit. The stars start to align right before my eyes, but I don't want this moment to end and I try to hold on to keep it from ending no matter how high the climax is about to erupt. But I can't. I know this is his favorite part; when we reach our highs together.
"That's right, baby," he pants. "Come with me. Fuck. Fuck. Yes." He steamrolls into a frenzy of curse words, a goofy grin on his face as he's completely laid out with pleasure, his head leaning back against the seat.
We give ourselves a few moments to collect ourselves and come down from our euphoric states before I move to sit next to him, clean myself off with one of Harry's t-shirts back here and put my pants back on.
"I'm so in love with you," he says, taking my hand in his. I look over to see he is staring at me through his long eyelashes. God, he is so beautiful. I love the way those words roll off his tongue with his British accent. I will never get tired of hearing those words come out of his mouth. "I know it sounds rather stupid considering everything we've been through, but we never really made things official."
"I think it's safe to say we're together, Harry," I laugh. "I mean, we do live together now."
"I know, but we've been so back and forth," he says with seriousness in his voice. "If I introduce you to someone, I want to be able to say you're my girlfriend without you looking at me like I have three heads because we never discussed it before."
"You are the cutest," I smile. I never once thought about labeling who we are, because to me, we're already a couple. He's already my boyfriend without having to discuss the situation. But I like how cute he's being about it.
"I'm serious," he says. "Be my girlfriend, Jayde."
"Yes, Harry, I'll be your girlfriend," I say, because I know he needs to hear the words. I lean over and gently kiss him on the cheek and look into his eyes. "And I'm so in love with you."
He cups my cheek with one hand and presses his lips to mine. He never seizes to amaze me. One minute he's talking dirty to me and the next saying how much he loves me and being cute as ever. I love that he is both. That he can easily make me feel so many incredible emotions just by being him.
"I think I should quit school and just spend all my time with you," he says. "I hate being away from you and think of all the sex we're missing out on."
"Don't be crazy!" I laugh.
"I'm not being crazy," he smiles. "I'm not happy at school. I don't like the program anymore. I know I said a couple weeks ago I should stay in it and finish the semester, but I'd have much more fun with you and we can apply to other schools and figure out what's next and focus on that, together."
"You're serious?"
"Very."
A/N: I had a case of writers block and I'm so sorry for how long this took me to write. I really do make sure to try and only write when I know I can give you something good (or at least decent), rather than just writing something to post it. Hope you understand.
This book is coming to an end soon.
