Bro hear me out. Snape's story would have been so much better if instead of being a bitter bully he ended up being one of those seemingly mean characters that turn out to actually be nice but just stern because yeah they care!

And so. My brain and I are just chilling here and this idea comes up: why not write a story that totally rips off Harry Potter but also allows for the things that should have been canon to happen. If that makes sense. Like also the fact that Lily deserves better than both James and Sevvy (okay yeah James matured blah blah blah, stand down fan girls not trying to start that argument. Not today anyway)

So

For the last, like, day or so I've been reworking this magic school idea I'd gotten a few months ago.... and I've come up with... A few things. Here's what I spammed my friend earlier:

Like, for instance, the Snape arc. I mean...would it not have been so much better if, instead of being a bitter bully to Harry, he would have become something of a father figure instead? Still stern and often cross and demanding but only because, well, he's trying to keep him alive. And wouldn't it just add to their bond if he knew right from the start what was up with this guy? Like if he just said, "I was once in love with your mom,  your dad was an asshole, and I hate him to this day, but I made a vow to protect you." and then...just so many other things 🥺

I was thinking the Snape knock off will also be a combination of Peter Pettigrew and Remus Lupin with just a dash of Regulus Black. And his name at the moment is Mr. Sherwood (he doesn't have a first name yet and I might change the surname later but Sherwood sounds like such a legit teacher name). The Harry knock off will also have a dash of Neville Longbottom and he will be called either Miles or Camden Walker (they'll both be characters but I can't decide which will be the knock off).

(Side note, I've actually just decided to go with both Miles and Cam as the protags and they'll do the same kind of switchy thing Carter and Sadie do in the Kane Chronicles. )

The James Potter (he doesn't have a name yet) knock off is still a bully but much more covert and, you know how kids are all "if you are really my friend you'll do this stupid embarrassing thing for me" and Sherwood, like Snape, will be the victim but then one day he wises up and says no more but then the bullying becomes more overt.

Lily knock off (I think she'll be named Eileen maybe?) Will because be almost the same exact thing. Friends with Sherwood since childhood, doesn't like the James knock off, is actually a bad friend. Blah blah blah. But Eileen will be more like "you're both terrible and I deserve better plus I don't even like men like that" and she'll run off with some chick and that will be Knock off Harry's parents instead.

(Elieen and her partner will be Miles's parents and Knock of James and his partner will be Cam's parents )

And then knock off James will have some other kid with someone else too (hes probably one of those internalized homophobic types that bully because hes gay and so yeah) and he grows up blah blah blah.

There's betrayal and death and yadda yadda but instead it'll  play out more like this: the voldy knock off isnt well known yet at this time and he's kinda drifting around and whatever looking for followers but because real vodly was like super lame imo I dunno i think he was hyped up a lot for nothing 😂 like yeah he was bad but he could have been worse and so this one will be and he'll look nice and whatever but he's actually a master manipulator and gets in people's head and stuff even without magic and so he finds Sherwood and manipulates him (mind you at this point hes still like 18 or whatever and very emotionally imbalanced and its literally immediately after this big fight that ruins a lot of peoples lives and So like easy pray ) and...yeah. That's it. 😂

Oh I did forget something 😂 I forgot the part where knock off voldy probably manipulates Sherwood into putting a hit on knock off James and Eileen and their partners and that's the reason they die and/or stop being friends.

(Im thinking that the hit is like a magical contract thingy and that's how Sherwood falls in with the Knock off Death Eaters)

There's probably also a Sirius knock off but unlike actual Sirius and Snape Sherwood and him make amends later in life because they're actually mature adults

Kay, back to the present now.

I was thinking originally the school would be called Lakewood High and that it would be in Orlando Florida so I could make Disney land jokes, but I think I'll just have their town be called Lakewood too (which makes me want to change Sherwood's name because both end in "wood" but...I don't know yet)

I still need some important things like... Plot and how the magic system works but I think it'll be a Gravity Falls type deal maybe where the weirdness is mainly only in the town of Lakewood at least for a little while.

But I have this idea for this little club house thing inside the lockers (it'll make more sense when you see it in action) and then they'll have non magical classes like government & econ, math, English comp, etc. Because that's another thing HP should have had. And then there will be magic classes. Probably they'll rotate out each semester or something

Sherwood, in a true rip off fashion, will teach potions class (because duh) but also chemistry class. It'll be awesome.
