13 | REGRET

Valdís didn't go to school for the next week. After her breakdown, she was far too embarrassed to face Peter ever again. Valdís moved out of Queens and back into the Avengers' building upstate with her father and sister.

Valdís wandered the halls of the building mindlessly thinking about what her life was going to be like now that she was living with the Avengers' and away from normal civilian life. She realized that it wouldn't be as exciting anymore, nor would she be around people her age. And... she wouldn't be able to be with Peter.

As she was walking around, she accidentally bumped into someone and broke away from her thoughts. "Oh sorry—" Valdís apologized then looked up and locked her eyes with Peter Parker.

"What are you doing here?" Valdís quickly asked.

Peter half smiled at her. "Good to see that you're okay too," he joked, "I'm here because Mr. Stark asked me to be apart of the Avengers." He shrugged.

"So you're an Avenger now?" Valdís inquired.

Peter shook his head. "I declined. I'm just the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." Peter shrugged, sending out airy chuckles.

Valdís widened her eyes in shock. "You turned him down?!" Valdís playfully pushed Peter.

Peter laughed. "Ye—yeah, I guess I did." Peter told.

"You're crazy, Parker." Valdís laughed in disbelief.

"But you love it." Peter joked.

Valdís felt a volcano of emotions bubble up inside of her. She was so emotionally conflicted with Peter, but now that she knew he wasn't going to be around for much longer, she decided to shoot her shot. Valdís grabbed his face and placed a long, soft kiss upon his lips. The kiss was almost magical. A sudden rush of adrenaline flooded her veins like a drug she had never experienced before. When the two finally parted their lips, all they could do was stare at each other. "Woah." Peter breathed.

"I do love it." Valdís smirked, then sent him a wink before she disappeared into one of the many halls of the building.

Peter stood there, paralyzed as he soaked in the entire moment. That was the moment he had been waiting for since the first night they fought alongside with one another as friends. Right then and there, Peter then regretted his decision of declining Tony's offer to be an Avenger.
