Children From The Mist

With a jolt I sat straight up. My breathing was heavy, once it calmed down I looked around. Where was I?
Around me was an old worn out shack and a bag was right next to me. Nothing pretty about it. As soon as the light shone in my mind was invaded by a voice,

'No, No, No. Time is lost......time is wrong. Better turn back the clock little one. Little Tomatsu...'

Huh? Turn back the clock? Tomatsu? That must be my name. Cool! I like it!! After a few minutes of gathering myself I got out of the shack and looked around. The whole vicinity was made up of a quiet and quaint village.

A monster growled. My hand rested on my stomach. There must be somewhere to eat.....

Eventually my eyes landed on a trio of kids playing. Infront of an Inn!

Inn=Food=Sleep!

My feet didn't wait and carried me across the field and to a window. Where I propped myself onto the open window and sat on the sill. Inside was a kitchen, and a boy wearing clothes similar to mine. Boy! He was cooking up a storm!

Literally! Seasonings, veggies, bread, even knives were flying everywhere. It was hard not to focus on one thing. Fortunately, the boy was too busy with his cooking to notice me.

"Watch out Az, things are starting to heat up!"

His small bird, a Tofu from what I've heard from the villagers, was hit by a fruit and fell into a sack of flour. I winced, that must've hurt...

"Watch out!" The boy promptly shouted.

Some more ingredients were thrown, and for some reason a counter holding up ingredients was falling down. As instincts told me to jump the boy thrusted out his hand towards the counter. A blue illuminating circle appeared and swallowed up the glasses. Disappearing afterwards. The boy gasped.

With a stunned look I blink twice. Then continued watching the boy as he patted the spot of the 'Incident'. Nothing happened.

Were these eyes playing tricks on me? Am I hallucinating? What would a sane person do? To make sure it was no hallucination I rubbed my eyes, the counter was still gone.

Hands on his hips, the boy stood up and looked closely at his hand. Asking himself,"Did I do that?"

To be honest, anyone would like to know that too! Maybe I should show I'm here? Or-hold up. He's trying something else.

He created a tiny portal, but it bursted like a bubble. Interesting..... Adjusting my giant hat I sat down and kept watching.

The boy did the same thing he did earlier, and before I could blink something brought me to the grounds! Glass shattering filled the now quiet room. Then came a gasp, and someone shouting,
"You okay Yugo?"

I could literally feel Yugo's eyes gazing down on me. Dang it....he's gonna rat me out for intruding like this, he stammered back reluctantly, "Y-y-yeah...just fine."

Well that's a relie-What is he doing?

A pair of arms grabbed me and helped me up into a standing position. When I opened my hesitant eyes, The boy was my height. He had a name....... (A/N of course he does!!)

After he sat me down, Yugo took my arm. Revealing a peice of glass wedged into it. The sight was nasty. Well, okay repulsive but not enough to make someone barf or anything.... Wow....now that I think about it when your down in the ground you really loose all sense of feelings. Huh, wonder if it happens often...

Yugo's voice made me come back to reality. "I'm sorry I hurt you. I don't know what happened," His hazel eyes drifted to the broken glass on the floor,"Sheesh, I better clean this up. And get you a bandage."

"Tomatsu Huh?" Yugo said with an adorable chuckle, "Cool name! Are Ya new in Emelka? I've never seen you around..."

At first I hesitated, then decided to tell the truth, "I don't have a home."

What?

Don't give me that look. I don't have one!
And I doubt a shack counts!

The 12 year old boy stopped his cooking and stared at me for a good minute. Without warning he jumped up, exclaiming blissfully.
"I know! You can live with us! Dad will be more than happy to let you stay. After all he does own an inn. Now c'mon, we got some meals to serve."

He collected plates and utensils and walked out of the room excited. My fave was frozen with an appalled look, thoughts racing.

Should I really accept his offer? How could he trust me when we just met?! Did he just assume I'm nice?!? Oh-

"Everybody watch out! Nobody move!" That's Yugo.

Let's check to see what he's up to.....

With one step out of the kitchen I was [] this close to being attacked by a dish full of food. Which unfortunately ended up attacking an old man. Yikes.....

Yugo walked up next to me,"2 out of 3!" Oh I see! Trying to lighten things up eh!? "Not bad Huh?"

Great news! Gues what?

Your not guessing!
Whatever, Yugo's father, Alibert, agreed to let me stay. Just as long as I could help put with the chores around the inn. He even called me 'Yugo's Twin' because of my hat. While he was cooking I conversated with him. This guys pretty fu-

CRASH!!!

For a second Yugo's eyes made its way to my own. He sat down his salt and grabbed my hand.

"C'mon. Let's check it out." I nodded in reply.

We walked out of the kitchen and my eyes widened.

A giant troll with three eyes, big red hair, and skin like stone had just crashed through the entrance. Strapped very very tightly round him was a white cloak/robe, in the center was a red sword running up and down the fabric. He was as tall as Yugo and I stacked ontop of each other.

It stomped around the tables full of customers, who were shaking in fear of becoming pancakes. My lips curled into a worried frown. It might hurt someone!

The monster stopped infront of a shelf with golden trophies. The women in the table under it hid their shaking faces.

"Pret......ty." The monster awed, picking up one of the trophies.

"Forget about that idiot, we have other things to do..." Another dark voice growled. Making me look around for its source. Not noticing Yugo walking up to the monster with a table cloth.

"Destroy! It's time to destroy!!" All stopped when Yugo draped the cloth over the monster's head. Boy, he was mad! The monster took off the cloth and looked for who did it. His eyes landing on an upset Yugo, with his hands on his hips, he said,

"Hey you! Look at the mess you've made. If you think I'm going to clean up after you your crazy!"

The monster growled, and raised his fist. Without thinking I started running, but the monster drive his fist to Yugo. A loud thud followed, and I fell down because of it. "Wow," Yugo said standing on the monster's giant red hair, "Good thing I don't get that upset every time Dad asks me to clean the inn."

Ha Ha Yugo, great joke. But now isn't really the time for them...

I jumped out of the way when the monster tried to hit me, and Yugo somehow made it punch itself.

He was dazed for a short time. Soon that short advantage ended and he snapped out of his confusion and roared.

He started throwing a tantrum.

What a baby-

Wait! Gotta help Yugo!

Avoiding smashed debris of tables and ceiling bits, I ran into the kitchen and opened a Cabinet. Inside was a broom.

Perfect.

My feet started walking, the monster was still fighting Yu-

Something smashed into me. Due to the surprise I was thrown into a spot under the crowded table on the center of the kitchen. Yugo, Yugo was the one who tackled me. Against the sacks under the table I sat frozen. He was on me with his head on my chest, and he wasn't moving.

"Y-Yugo?"

Alibert rushed into the room like the inn was on fire. His eyes scanned the room frantically, finally landing on us. "Yugo! Tomatsu!" He rushed over and checked his son,"Is there anything broken?" Dunno. When Yugo didn't answer his father growled, saying to me,

"Tomatsu. Watch over Yugo."

And just like that he left. Leaving us.

What do I do? I can't move him. What if he has any broken bones! Moving him would just make it worse!........Better try to wake him up.

My fingers poked his cheek,"C'mon.... Wake up!" I pleaded,"We need your help! Please!!"

As if to help with the matter, Az flew around us. Chirping frantically. Weight started being lifted off of me; Yugo's becoming conscious! Without a word he stood up and ran back to the scene.
.
.
.
.
After regaining myself I stood up and left to find the others. Yugo stood ontop of the front counter, hands on his hip, and a stern look on his face.

"What's a Shushu?"

"It's an evil spirit. A demon trapped in an object. When it's badly controlled, it becomes free and possesses its owner." Ruel, who was being man-handled with Yugo's dad explained. The eye of the Shushu looked at Ruel irritated,"Gramps here seems to know what he's talking about. Get rid of him."

Oh no he won't! (Do sassy pose) I climbed onto the counter next to Yugo. He made a circle with his hands in the air, creating a portal.

"Oh yeah?" He shot,"We'll see about that! C'mon Zelda!" My grip on the broom tightened. Yugo jumped through the portal and I followed behind.

Let me say, going through the portal
.
.
.
.
Felt pretty different.

It was hard to realize how I could endeavor it. The portal spat me out infront of the monster. Yugo landed ontop of his giant hair. Seriously, how does he keep it like that? Gel? Is it natural? Wait a minute.....
An idea popped into mind,
"Shushu! Grab the Shushu!"

Yugo understood. He grabbed the eye in the middle and started trying to pry it off. Like a shield, I used the broom to hold the monster into place. The Shushu tried to be aggressive,
"What're you doing you brats?!?! Let me go!!"

"Yeah right!" I retorted. Then I released the monster. My partner in crime had just pried the Shushu. And for some reason, it transformed into a tiny sword.

The monsters knees buckled.

Oh no...

Thankfully I jumped out of the way before the monster could fall on my top of me. Yugo laughed as he rode it down like a wild bull.

Proud smirk on, I made a cocky pose with my 'weapon'. "The world's greatest weapon right he-GAH!!!"

Arms pulled me into a group Hug. Consisting Yugo and his dad. My face flushed with the sudden surprise. Alibert asked if we were alright. Without signal a bright red light appeared, and disappeared just as it came. In the monster's place was a teenage boy.

"Woah!" Yugo and I exclaimed," Did he shrink in the wash?"

The boy stood up exhausted and bursted out,"There's something really important I must tell you......."

Asleep.

HE'S ASLEEP!

To be honest I never knew anyone could fall asleep standing up. You learn something new everyday!

"He's conked out!"

Ruel turned to us,"We'll, Kiddos, that was some pretty impressive stuff! What was that game of Hide-and-Seek you played with Tomatsu, Yugo? I've never seen that kind of magic before.

Yugo smiled brightly,"It....just sorta happened. Pretty neat Huh? I just discovered it when I was doing the cooking." He wrapped an arm around my shoulders,"Tomatsu over here had a good taste of it!"

Chuckling, I brushed his arm off and adjusted my hat,"I don't think that'll be my last try of it."

Alibert knelt down to our eye-level. The look on his face made me worry.

"Yugo," he started, placing a hand on his son's shoulder,"I have something extremely important to tell you. When I found you, there was a message in your baby carriage. It spoke of your powers, Tomatsu, and your real family," my eyes widened. Yugo glanced at me for a minute, or at least it felt like one.

But all was interrupted when screams echoed all the way from outside.

"What's all that racket?!" Ruel complained. We all looked through an open segment of the wall. As soon As we looked outside I could sense Yugo's hands glow bright blue. A menacing laugh echoed my ears.

And because of that....

I didn't know my own hands were glowing as well....
