Daddy's Little Girl (LS)
( I take no responsibility for anything that might happen to your feels in this chapter )
Amber's POV
I was sitting at home. Lily was in her room asleep. It has been a few years since Leonard left and in that time I had a daughter and named her Lily. He always said if we had a daughter she would be named Lily. That was before I found out I was carrying ours…
I was cleaning up a bit when there was a knock on the door. I sighed and went to the door. I opened it and saw a man in a trench coat, Kendra, Professor Stein, Jax, Sara, and Ray.
"Oh hey, haven't seen you in seven years." I giggled a bit.
There was so much I could tell just by reading their faces, sadness, pain, guilt, grief, and much more.
"Come in," I said, I stepped out of the way and the large group came on and sat themselves down.
"Get to the point, what happened to Mick and Leonard?" I asked closing the door my smile disappearing.
"How did you know? Other than them not being here…" Ray said trailing off at the end.
"Because there's no other reason you'd be here." I said sitting on one of the armchairs. Everyone else was sitting on the couch or standing.
"They… Died…" the man in the coat said. He set the cold gun and heat gun on the coffee table in front of him.
I stared at them for a moment. Even though there were tears forming in my eyes I let out a sad laugh.
"I guess that's what I get for trusting the two criminals. They made the exact same promise but the difference is the first time they ended up in Iron Heights."
My eyes were still locked on the guns. Everyone saw I was slowly breaking as I realized what was happening.
"Mommy?" I heard Lily behind me. They all looked at her shocked.
"Who are they?" she asked. I tore my eyes away from the weapons on the table and looked at her. I took a deep breath and walked over to her.
"These are some of mommy and daddies friends," I said softly. Her eyes lit up in excitement. "Is daddy coming back?" she asked excited. I barely held back tears.
"N-no, daddy… He isn't coming back..." I choked the words out but kept my voice strong for her. "Like puppy Lenny?" she asked curiously. "Yes just like your puppy…" I confirmed.
Kendra's POV
That broke my heart. I knew that Leonard had someone else in his life but never figured that he has two someones who cared for him.
I started crying and Lily looked at me. Lily walked forward and hugged her and looked up. "Did you know daddy?" she asked Amber stood and walked back to my seat.
"Yes… I did," she confirmed. "It's okay, I cared about him too, even if I never met him," she said.
It broke me to see how this young girl lost her father and could still comfort others who are grieving over him.
I hugged her back slightly and she went and sat on her mother's lap.
Amber's POV
I held get close. "How did they…" I couldn't bring myself to say it. Kendra began.
"Well, Rip," she gestured to the man in the coat, "was leading us to defeat Vandal Savage." I froze when I heard the name.
"In the end we defeated him but people were still attacking us. Mick, surprisingly, took a bullet for Leonard, and soon after he… you know. They were heros in the end."
I sighed and shook my head, "they promised me they wouldn't go and become hero's," I said, holding into Lily.
She reminded me so much of her father, same eyes, she also loved the cold.
She always said 'when daddy comes back, I'm going to be big and strong, I'm going to make him proud, and when I do we can be a happy family.'
I sighed again and everyone excused themselves. I brought Lily to bed and once she was soundly asleep I went through pictures of me and Len, I replayed memories in my head and listened to music.
I listened to many songs then one played that killed me even more. It was 'Daddy's Little Girl by Tim McGraw'. That broke me.
Lily had said that someday after daddy came home she would listen to this song with him and when she got older and got married she would dance with him to this song.
"How could you do that to us?" I cried quietly. I let my tears fall. I let my emotions out.
I had a disk that was songs about daddy and his little girl. I pulled it out and stared at it. The more I listened to it the more I wanted to cry.
It had at least three versions of 'daddy's little girl,' by different people. There was one called 'butterfly kisses'. There was so many and with each one I progressively got worse.
"I can't believe I fell for the criminal. I guess that's what I get for having another criminal for a brother." I said softly with a small smile as I looked at my ring then a picture of me and Mick when we were younger. Then one of me and Len at our wedding.
"I guess I'll see you in my dreams." I said putting the picture down and standing.
I went to my room and looked at the bed.
Over the seven years I had gotten used to not waking up to him by my side but I always told myself that I would be able to be back to that soon enough.
But the knowledge that would never happen again... I shook my head and lay down. Pulling the blankets up.
After a while of laying there I heard a knock at my door and it creaked open. I looked up and there was Lily. She looked so tiny.
"Mommy I can't sleep..." she said rubbing her eyes and clutching her bear tight.
"Come here then baby," I said she crawled into my bed and I pulled her into a hug. "I love you." I whispered.
She cuddled up close to me and soon enough I heard her soft snores.
"At least I still have my baby girl," I said smiling. I kissed the top of her head and soon enough fell asleep.
The last thought I had was, 'I'll be strong for you.'
