Chapter Three
*if I don't tell you who's POV it's in, assume it's in Cale's POV*
"Enjoy camp!" my dad said at 6:25. He was always an early riser. I was not. "I will," I told him. I felt bad for lying but I had to rescue Tara. I left the house and headed for Remotely Blank. Quinn was already there when I arrived at 6:31, sipping a cup of hot chocolate. "So we're actually doing this?" I asked. "Would you be here if we weren't?" Quinn countered. I sighed. I was nervous. How often do you enter another world? Not often. I ordered a coffee to wake me up. "Hiiiiii!" said Kiera, walking in at 6:33. "You are waaaay too perky for this early in the morning," I told her. The waiter got back with my coffee. I gave him the money. Flint walked in then, at 6:34. "You guys ready?" Flint asked, sitting down. "Yup!" exclaimed Kiera. "Absolutely," I said. Quinn didn't respond, he just took another drink of his hot chocolate. "I'll take that as a maybe," Flint decided. "Good for you," Quinn remarked. Flint glared at him. Quinn didn't even look at him. "Sorry I'm late," Alan told us, walking in at 6:37. "It's ok," Quinn said. "Let's go!" I said, rising to my feet. "Sit back down. We're going to wait for 8 more minutes to head to the gateway," Quinn informed us. "Where is this gateway you were talking about?" Flint asked. "In my basement," Quinn responded. "Your basement?" Kiera asked. "Yeah. My uncle has it for various reasons. But he doesn't allow me to use it, so I'm not even allowed in the basement," Quinn explained. "Then how're we going to use it?" I asked. "We're going to sneak in," he told us. "So you're breaking into your own house?" Flint clarified. "That's the only way we'll be able to use it," Quinn reasoned. "Well, it's been 8 minutes, so let's go," I said. Quinn nodded. We got up and left. I tossed my coffee cup in the trash as I left. We made it to Dusty's. Quinn led us around the side. There was a small window near the ground. He pulled it open. Turning back to us, he said, "Don't touch anything." He climbed in. We followed. The basement was like something out of a sci-fi movie. There was a long table with beakers and tubes and sciency stuff. There was a large coffin looking thing covered in a white sheet. It looked like you could fit a person in whatever it was. I noticed Quinn was looking at it with what looked like sadness. Towards the side, there was a small glass table with a crystal ball and a spoon on top. There was also a cabinet nearby with one door slightly ajar to show it was filled with medieval weapons. "This place is cool!" exclaimed Kiera. Quinn led us to a wall decorated with a large mirror. "It's 6:54 now. In one minute, I'll be able to open the gate. Then jump in as quickly as possible. I'll come once you're all through," Quinn instructed. We waited. Then Quinn held out his arm. The mirror started glowing. "Now," he said. Flint jumped through. Alan went next, followed by Kiera. I was about to go through when I heard a door open. Ace Dusty ran down the steps. "Quinn!" Dusty yelled. "Go," Quinn told me. I jumped through, with Quinn coming immediately after.
Ace Dusty's POV
I ran at them, trying to stop them. I nearly grabbed Quinn before he disappeared. I touched the mirror. The gateway had closed. If I wanted to get to Kurea, I'd have to wait until tomorrow. I sighed. I should have known I couldn't stop him. I loved Quinn. He wasn't my son, but I raised him just the same. Yes, I missed several years, but that didn't change the fact that I wanted to keep him safe. I wondered what would happen when he went back to Kurea. I went over to the table with my crystal ball. That was my Aku, or my power. I could see events through my crystal ball. The past requires a bit of prior knowledge and the future is constantly changing, but it is easy for me to see present events. I watched them enter Kurea. And I continued watching to see what happened next.
Back to Cale's POV
I tumbled to the ground. The grass was slightly wet. Wait, grass. No way, was I actually in another world? I stood up. Kiera, Flint, and Alan were gaping at the scenery. I looked around. Woah. We stood in a small clearing in a bright forest. Light was filtering through the trees. I could hear running water nearby. I'd never seen colors so bright in my life. Quinn stepped out behind me. He nearly fell, but caught himself just in time. Lucky him. "Well," Quinn said, "Welcome to Kurea."
Sorry about the short chapter, this just felt like a good place to end it.
Guide: The guide for today will be having you ask questions and (if they don't spoil anything) I will answer them. Who knows, you may get a hint at the upcoming story.
